Random Arma Bullshittery - Update #7

It's the end of week six on Random Arma Bullshittery (part 9). And here's an update on how things are getting on.

Last week, my focus was working out the framing devices throughout the episode - the newsreel and the jingle. But this week has been a case of taking what I've edited and putting it all together. It's been primarily a week of quality assurance.

And on that front, I've managed to complete about 8 minutes and 50 seconds of the ...

Random Arma Bullshittery - Update #6

It's week five on Random Arma Bullshittery (part 9). And this week I've had a very specific goal - getting the framing devices right.

So insofar as the main edit is concerned, most scenes have had most editing done. With an approximate run-time of 18 minutes in total (it's creeping up...arghh). But the trouble is I don't know where some of them are going to fit in relation to the song lyrics in the second framing device, which I shall explain.

On Monday...

Random Arma Bullshittery - Update #5

Good evening dear patrons, and happy Friday to you all. So it's the end of week 4 on Random Arma Bullshittery (part 9). And here's how things are going so far.

By this point, I would normally find myself on the quality assurance stages for a video that's 10 minutes long. Having done the bulk of the text and animations in weeks 2 and 3 (averaging about 5 minutes per week). But since this video is more like 16 minutes long I should have spent that 4th week reac...

Random Arma Bullshittery - Update #4

Good afternoon dear Patrons. I just wanted to start with a sincere thank you for your patronage. To those who have stuck with me this long and to new patrons having joined recently. Thank you for letting me spend my time fiddling with words and stuff whilst wearing one sock and sitting in my underpants. Rather than having to put on a suit, sit in an office and say things. It's very generous of you all and I could never thank you enough!

Now then, on the Random Arma 3 bullshittery View Post

Random Arma Bullshittery - Update #3

Thanks very much for your input regarding the poll. Antistasi Arma it is then.

I've certainly got all the other Arma clips saved up (and well nested) for the next batch of editing. So for the future please know that there's plenty of footage for Arma bullshittery part 10. And I've even got a rough outline for it and some fun ideas insofar as the editing is concerned. I'm looking forward to doing it.

So for the last five days I've been continuing th...

Random Arma Bullshittery - The Resistance Blob

So I've had some time to look into "the Resistance blob" mentioned in the previous update. And one thing is clear - it's big. Much bigger than I had anticipated.

There are so many funny moments from the Antistasi mod alone that I reckon it's worth doing its own independent bullshittery for Arma. Instead of having it presented as the middle section of part 9.

Therefore I present a choice. Would you pref...

Random Arma Bullshittery - Update #1

Many thanks for your votes and your comments on the previous update. Thank you for agreeing with me on the Arma thing. At the moment I think I need something that's a tad easier to on the editing front. I will certainly get around to doing Divinity, Human Fall Flat, Gang Beasts, etc. I look forward to Gang Beasts especially. It's just that two heavy-edits in a row is a bit hurty on the brain. The level of key-framing involved is going to be a bit crazy.

Right then, based mainly on the...

Next Youtube video - May I take your order?

First up, greetings new Patrons. After the Mount & Blade video there was a minor surge in overall patrons. So welcome and thank you very much for your patronage. It is possible however that existing Twitch subs are simply switching over to Patreon, since Twitch is rolling back their messaging system and Patreon is generally more reliable. But either way, welcome and sincerely...thank you.

Now then, to business, may I take ...

EARLY ACCESS - Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery

Righto. At long last the edit is done. Here is a Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery. Thank you for being so patient with me xx

So this won't be the final render, as there's an extra 1 minute scene that I'd love to edit and add in the second half. Therefore if you spot any goofs please let me know. I'm rather hoping I've caught them all, but you know how it is. If you end up looking at the same thing for many hours...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #10

Heyo. Super quick update. The quality assurance effort is nearly finished. Of the 25 minute run-time there's about 30 seconds remaining to fix. The rest should be good to go.

Those last 30 seconds consist of small 2-5 second tasks that are quite complicated. For example, one of them is a green-screen composite that needs to look perfect. And a handful of others are audio layers that are fiddly. Or even a bit of foley that I need to re...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #9

Right, sorted!!

The main principle editing has been (more or less) completed. Totaling up to about 25 minute and 30 seconds. The After Effects compositions, various art assets and static subtitles should be for the most part finished. All of the scenes should be in the correct places and in the right order. There are some rough edges, but it's together.

Corr blimey that was...

New Patrons - Some links to available drafts

Super-quick update just before lunch. In the live-stream this morning there were some people asking where they could find Twitch subscriber/Patron only footage. And then after that there was a handful of new Patrons. I assume they're looking for it.

Quickly making a short-list for the convenience of those individuals. And anybody else interested.

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #8

So it's been a behemoth of an editing effort, but the end is finally in sight.

For the latest Mount and Blade Bullshittery video, I have successfully edited about 22 minutes of the final 25 minute cut. With the remaining 3 minutes only really requiring the text and animations as most of the cutting and transitions has long since been finished. Thank you for being so patient with me.

The remaining 3 minutes should take abou...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #7

Good evening folks. It's the second week of the second half of the Mount & Blade bullshittery on Youtube. Here's an update on progress.

So midway last week I predicted I'd be at roughly the 18 minute mark by now, aiming for the first week of April completion. I'm actually on the 16 minute mark, which is approximately 3 days behind schedule I'm afraid. Sorry about that. This is because I've entered the most complicated 2 minute of the edit - a big ...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #6

Good evening folks. So it's the first week on the second half of the Mount & Blade bullshittery on Youtube and everything is progressing well. An update on progress:

On Monday I went through the initial cut and made a few improvements. Shaving some bits down and adding a couple of others. The run-time is approximately 25 minutes at the moment, but that may fluctuate some more trimming/adding.

Thank you very much for the spotting of whoopsies/typos in the fir...

EARLY ACCESS - Mount & Blade (first half)

The first half of the video is ready for viewing :)

Please bear in mind that it's not quite finished yet. It's entirely up to you whether you'd like to watch it now or wait for the finished product.

So I did end up adding that additional minute in the end. Bringing the run-time up from 10 minutes and 30 seconds to 12 minutes and 25 seconds. On the editing side of things, ...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #5

Quick update! Alas, I wasn't able to get the first half of the bullshittery done in time for the weekend. But the progress is good. It's about 10 minutes 30 seconds edited with only 10 seconds left undone.

Trouble is, the last few bits are almost always the toughest. Consisting of frame-by-frame stuff that often takes multiple attempts. Because I'm one of those irritating sods who leaves the worst bits until last.

Alternatively, bi...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #4

Apologies for the late update folks. I was really supposed to do one last week but I fell behind because I'm a bit worried I don't have enough new information to show you. And was therefore trying to get as much done as possible for presentation.

In the editing I'm about 10 minutes and 40 seconds complete out of 25 minutes. And my focus right now is to try and get the first half available to you as a complete video as soon as possible. You can then either deci...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #3

Happy Friday everyone!

So it's the end of the third week of work on the latest bullshittery. Which would make it day 15 of the editing. And progress has been 'okay, but not quite as good as I would like'.

I'm up to about 5 minutes (almost exactly in fact) of fully edited video out of about 25 minutes. That's an unexpectedly long run-time, which I shall endeavor to tighten it as I go.

5 minutes is not that bad for ...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Update #2

Apologies, I'm a tad late with this update.

This month has been a bit hectic, as it's an important one for sole-traders like myself. We need to do our self-assessment in order to calculate how much income tax we get charged. Which involves back-and-forth with an accountant - and this year my bank - since you need to have funds in a particular business bank account, etc. And as bad as I am at comp...

Random Mount & Blade Bullshittery - Discovery Phase #1

So this morning I was going through the footage that I have on my hard drives, trying to determine what might make a good bullshittery. And I came across this gem.

Mount & Blade is this first/third person adventure/exploration/fighting game that I played in the middle of last year. And I remember that it was... profoundly silly!

I remember finding myself in a town after the t...

DayZ Critique - Combining parts 1-9 into a whole #5

I'm going to split up this update into a couple of posts to make it easier to comment on. Bear with me :)

So its the start of the 4th week of January. And so it's probably best if I put the DayZ side project down for a little bit and focus on a video for public release. Since it has been a full month since the last one.

It's been nice and productive though! At the start of the year I had mostly draftish video versions with quite a lot of rework and only a vague plan for part 10 of the vi...

DayZ Critique - Combining parts 1-9 into a whole #4

A bit of a boring update from me I'm afraid. The work on the DayZ critique continues to progress. But I'm afraid it's still too early to show anything new, sorry.

  • I'm currently working on the script for part 10/10 - Development. In which I have a look at the development actions Bohemia have taken over the last few years. And as expected it's turning out to be the lengthiest chapter. But, I've managed to finish writing about 2/3rds of it and it's turning out really well. ...

Single player streams - New Password for Patrons

The new Patreon password for the start of this year is - Filament

For those not familiar, during some of the single-player livestreams for things like X-Com, Kerbal, Warhammer, etc, I found that it was quite fun to rename the in-game characters after the Patrons and Twitch subs watching the stream. It adds a fun bit of personalisation to the goings on within each game. It makes things much more entertaining.

With Twitch subscribers it's easy to identify them, be...

DayZ Critique - Combining parts 1-9 into a whole

Happy New Year everybody!

Hope you're all had a good one. It was quite cosy over here. I spent it in a warm flat with a cold beer, with Lulu on my lap and with the ZF guys in teamspeak. Where we faffed around in Rocket League, Jedi Academy, Left4Dead, Deceit, etc. A good laugh.

Since Christmas day I've been taking things a bit lightly in an effort to recharge the batteries. But it's time to get back on the editing horse. Therefore I was hoping to continue making a good stab towa...

Aaaaaaand all done.

Random We Were Here Bullshittery

Hopefully! Let me know if you spot any editing whoopsies. I'm pretty sure I've got them all. It's amazing how many times you can re-watch something and miss things like basic spelling errors.

So this one is somewhat different then the usual compilation formats of something like PUBG or CSGO, in that it was two different streams trimmed down and editing to look l...

Random We Were Here Bullshittery - Update #4

Good morning Patrons. Quite a bit to update you on this morning. Apologies for the wall of text :)

Firstly on "Random We Were Here Bullshittery", it's the start of the 5th week of work (sorry) and editing wise the video is almost complete. There are a couple of 20 second segments that still need text. But most of the video is edited. What needs to happen now is quality assurance. It's time to gradually go through the 20 minutes and spot errors, tighten transitions, ma...

Random We Were Here Bullshittery - Update #3

Good evening Patrons. Another week, another update.

The third week of editing ends on Random We Were Here Bullshittery - a two player cooperative puzzle game that Cyanide and I streamed back in May of this year. The video is approximately 20 minutes long. And editing is complete up to the 13 minute mark

Most bullshitteries are around 10 minutes in duration. So usually at this point I'd be in the quality-assurance phase: ...
