Happy new year! Kinda wanted to make up something after seeing the 28372837 tiger drawings on twitter. I was thinking of going for a little bit different way of coloring by masking a color gamut but i think i didn't know what I was doing haha. I feel I would need to keep doing that but I feel it's something I should try incorporating into my color selection process instead of going for what I think looked nice.

I blink?? And this month evaporated?? Last month was spent adjusting to being back home and this one was spent getting back to the speed of my work on The Owl House. It's gonna be a few rough coming weeks but hopefully that eases up! I'm still glad to have found some personal time doing some drawings (even thumbing a small animation). I've been itching to draw this pokemon because it has such a goofy design and I wondered what visual take I can do for it. I wanted to do a lot of pinching forms for this but I think I had some difficulty getting the head shapes looking right. I also had troubles posing the body that I spent a little bit too long working on the torso so I ended up for a more grounded pose.

I've been in a slight drawing rut so I tried making something in one sitting! I did 3 sketch passes this time but I'm happy that I didn't do...like...4 anymore haha. Had the opportunity to work on this brief tutorial with TourBox NEO as I did ruminate on of the concept of being able to make art an easier task. As someone who has done work in publication, animation and comics, I picked up on a few things that I felt made my process much easier! Perhaps I am still missing out on tools/tricks that could make me a faster artist but I think I've been way more efficient compared to before (especially after picking up CSP haha) Hoping these 5 tips can help!

I’ve been thinking about the concept of solidity in drawing. These are three small tricks one can do to make a drawing look more solid! Nailing your contours is the easiest and surefire way to solidify your forms. The opposite is true if you want to achieve more flat forms by omitting these three.

A bit of a long ramble ahead for a random sketch thoughts post but going forward:
Some odds and ends from the past few weeks (cough maybe months???) that I haven't posted on here yet! A good number of these are just throwaway stuff that past me would delete but I've learned to save as many scribbles as I can. The only time I'd delete sketches it they were like, an unreadable hot mess of lines.

I've been working with same-thickness/monoline brushes for quite sometime and I just wanted to make some notes. It becomes more effective the more controlled the strokes are! I've been thinking of adding a second part to this with how having thin lines help in achieving shapes.
I think the main benefit of using monolines is how you don't need to consider line weight when doing line art!
