Posted these on the discord but progress has been slow! These are a bit trickier but so far i’m happy with how they’re coming out. I’ve been feeding off from the art of Indivisible and it’d be cool to see my d&d characters in motion haha.

There are different ways to construct the head with each having their own mindset and simplicity! It helps to understand how other artists construct their drawings so that you can find out what works out for you as no one thinks the same!
A process video on how I went through my mambabarang studies! It was tricky getting the beetle right but i think i found the right amount of appeal!

Some ink drawings and sketches I did from drawing meetups. I honestly haven’t been touching traditional much in years since I graduated, moreso when I got an ipad since most of my work is now done digitally. It feels great to come back and just feel ink coming out on paper. I also miss feeling this finality when doing traditional.
Looking back to my old traditional sketching habits from years ago I would use red pencil for roughs and go for ink, sometimes even just using pencil on top...

A quick one but I’m very happy with how it turned out. Pretty straightforward sketch, line, color, lighting process! Used the pencil brush on procreate for the lines!

In a new record, I have managed to make about half of my Mumuktubre prompt which is pretty impressive because I’ve never gotten that far! I also arrived back from my trip so it’s back to catching up on stuff!

The whole uncut sketching and inking process for this month’s prompt: Mumuktubre (basically of philippine monsters and cryptids or mumu).
It was nice looking them up and then coming up with new designs. I got to explore new design opportunities given their descriptions. Most existing media of them are either gritty, or gory so I wanted to add a more fun and appealing twist to them while giving them some filipino outfits.

Wanted to try animating something in 3s! It was more fun doing it straight ahead and not in keyframes. I didn’t really have anything specific planned in mind so I just went with this. I hope to be more mindful of my lines and forms so it doesn’t come off as too shaky next time.
I included the roughs I posted on Patreon and also bonus silhouette with the fx animation because I thought it looked cool haha.

Some self-indulgent loops of some characters on RoughAnimator. It’s pretty cool how much you can get away with 3 frames. For some reason I feel my drawing quality isn’t that good. May have something to do with how the program handles. I also wish they implement some blending mode because I want to do some lighting Haha. I should just learn csp animation tbh haha

wanting to review on how to go around torso muscles. It really pays to memorize how each form connects to each other as once you have that down, you can think about shapes and proportion.

Wanted to try out this coloring style by Anthony Holden!
I may have taken a little to long on getting the posing right (it almost got super frustrating haha). Coloring it was a breeze though as i just used selection tools and a water color brush (also because I wanted this drawing to be over with hahahaha).

Designed another dragonborn character for a D&D game i’m DMing. This time a wizard! It’s a nice way to practice and explore different draconic features. I want to push this some more though and get to his whole outfit. I usually like to nail features first before going ham on shapes. I go through a number of sketches before I find out things i like!

Doing this reeeaaally quick drawover I noticed his use of small details and shapes that makes the whole character pop. Managed to be lucky to have attended a figure drawing session. It was kinda abrupt so I didn’t get to prepare myself with techniques and mindsets i wanted to try out. I’m reminded of how rusty my observational skills are.
I also wished I did this traditionally and on a larger canvas so that I can do larger and more broad strokes. Hopefully I can be more prepared next time!

A bunch of sketches and WIPs of d&d characters. There are some drawings here I spent a bit more time on but ended up not being happy with and even some I lost energy for. I’ll most likely get back to some of these. Feels bad to look at these and wish they were more tied down/finished but hey gotta get those unsatisfactory drawings out for better ones!

Tied down that animation I did the other day. This one is much easier! I also wanted to lessen my frames and so far it’s working out. I pretty much copied and pasted most of the elements of the character haha. Hope to clean and color this in the following days!
