WIP - Kick Animation

This is a wee bit ambitious for me but here’s an incomplete rough for a thing I sketched the other day. I’m planning to rough this in RoughAnimator and then *maybe* transfer this to clip studio paint, because that’s where the compositing tools are. I more or less laid out where the cameras will be (the gray areas) so I’ll just slowly toil on this animation until I get there! WIP - Idle Animation

Continuing getting to know animation more! I realized making looping animation is a bit tough?? I had to keep stuff consistent or at least I had to transition forms back to the initial drawing.

My process so far, I had an initial rough, I tied it down by fixing the timings of stuff, then I went straight to lining and coloring.

A wip and some animation tests as I recently (or rather impulsively) got Rough Animator on the iPad. This is my first time doing animation on a screen and I realized it’s more enjoyable?? It’s still an arduous process for me but I’m more willing to finish stuff haha! I’m still trying to get how timing and spacing works but hopefully I’ll get there! I’m gonna make a separate wip post for that loop animation once i’ve finished it!

QUICK NOTES - Inking Styles

Every line brush yields different textures and lines. Certain shape languages and rendering styles benefit from certain brushes, while others just don’t work together.

A bunch of these are inside jokes among friends where he’s a vampire now??? I also tried drawing him in a more constructed style but i think it needs some work haha. I like drawing this guy because I can just dump whatever I’m feeling to him so does that make him a fursona???? i’m still not sure!

Regardless, he’s my go to character to play around expressions with! It‘s real fun!

July 2019 Sketch Requests

I was sick for the past few days and I barely drew so I’m trying to warm up again by doing this set of requests earlier than usual. i also spent a little bit more time being mindful about interpreting the shapes of the characters and how I can push them more! It’s a good start to getting back into the groove after being thrown off of it!

JUNE 2019 UPDATE!

Started off last month with a trip abroad as a sort of break from a bunch of stuff. This month’s theme was pretty much burnout and recovery haha. Alright, not the most methodical way of designing a new character, but I like how I decided to experiment a bit more around halfway into the video. I could’ve just settled with my usual lining style, but I decided to tweak my inking brush a bit to have this Color Burn effect.

I realized it‘s a bit tricky drawing with very chunky proportions and that you’d have to cheat some anatomy for the sake of readability. Fun exercise!
