Here I was trying to get the sort of thin light that you see when it starts to storm during the daytime. I always think that lighting is kind of fun, even if it is eerie.

Finally, we get some names to the symbols stated in the comic.

What's funny to me is I've had most of these symbols on a little cheat sheet for a while now, ready to go whenever I need them, but I think the only one that I've used of these four is 'binding' in chapter 2.

I guess the thing that this page teaches you is Rosemary is really good at studying.

Chapter 7.04

These pages I've been trying out some additional things with the ink splatters to try and use them in a way that's adding to the comic. So ultimately I'll probably be trying to get those strong blacks put in there at some point, which is what I was playing with on some of the panel backgrounds.

This batch of PSD files lead right to the end of chapter 6. The scene before in the cave has hard shadows and dramatic lighting, but I wanted to try and carry that through the rest of the chapter, just because I really enjoy it. So I tried pulling off some afternoon 'golden hour' light.

I'm loving Vivianne on this page, to be quite honest.

In more behind the scenes commentary, I'm still experimenting with ink splatters. I think they're fun to do and I like the texture they give, but since I didn't use it throughout the entire comic I think it's throwing some people off. But, I suppose that's what you get with a long running comic. I never went into this comic with a specific style in mind... which is maybe obvious with the addition of color at chapter 3. Chapter 7 begins now! I've got a couple more pages getting ready to be colored, and I've made some headway on the later stuff, so I'll be posting a lot of comic page content soon.

I had to really push some of these colors to make it appear properly green, actually. It can get so eerie right before a big thunderstorm, and it always surprises me how green out it gets when it's going to storm.
