Tier 3+ - Accidental Champion - Chapter 78 - If That’s Your Idea Of Fun

Xavier watched as a jagged bolt of pure white lightning shot from Soultaker. It streamed through the darkness, heading straight toward the first clutch of Dark Wyverns.

Soultaker was already infused with Spirit Energy. His body, mind and magic was empowered by Spiritual Trifecta. He knew he’d only been gone from this place for a few minutes, but it felt like far too long.

When the bolt of white lightning neared the beasts, it blossomed into a bright, beautiful apparition of dest...

Tier 3+ - Accidental Champion - Chapter 77 - Plunge To Our Deaths

Sitting in the Staging Room, meditating on his reserve of souls, and casting Soul Harden over and over as he watched them get consumed, Xavier wondered if there was any point to using this spell.

He consumed 29 of the 30 souls he had harvested. And, as far as he could tell, nothing had happened.

Though he knew that must have been a deceptive feeling. In his gut, he could feel something changing. It was a small feeling, and he didn’t know if he could trust it or not, but...

Xavier kept the frown off his face as he looked at the others. He couldn’t help but feel as though they were looking at him differently.

Then again, he supposed he shouldn’t be surprised even if they were. He thought about what he’d just done. What he’d just been able to do. Not only had he struck down close to a thousand beasts, he’d done it with ease.

And he’d harvested every single one of their souls.

Yet the pit inside of him still didn’t feel full. The pit...

Tier 3+ - Accidental Champion - Chapter 75 - A Quest Like That Could Justify Anything

Siobhan paced back and forth, not that there was much space on the pillar of rock that was the Safe Zone.

Justin stood in the dead centre of the platform. His forehead was creased, looking toward the side where the door to the Staging Room was. It was on the side of the pillar of rock that they stood upon. When they left, they’d have to lower themselves down, and the kid clearly had a fear of heights.

Howard looked deep in thought, his head down, his arms crossed over his large ...

Hi all!

First I want to thank you all for being here. I really value every single one of you. My Patreon has grown so much more than I expected it to over this past month, and it's staggering to receive so much support. (It also really helps pay the bills!)

Tier 3+ - Accidental Champion - Chapter 74 - Every Kill Counts

Xavier burned through Dark Wyvern after Dark Wyvern, sending Soul Strikes at flocks—

Clutches? Flights? What do you call a group of wyverns?

—of the leathery beasts, taking out ten at a time.

He experimented a little with the strength of Soul Strike, wanting to get a feel for it. Now that it had reached Rank 2, he shot off another one-infused Soul Strike to see how many level 14 Dark Wyverns he was able to take out.

Xavier smiled. Previously, he’d only been abl...

Bolts of white lightning shot forth from Xavier’s staff-scythe, zigzagging through the air until they came together in one giant apparition, his largest yet.

Xavier laughed. He’d infused six souls into this strike.

The brilliant, white wyvern soared through the Dark Wyverns heading his way, illuminating them in their moment of death. Instantly, nine kill notifications vied for his attention. He pushed them back, willing them not to appear.

Things were about to get seriou...

Tier 3+ - Accidental Champion - Chapter 72 - Three More souls

Xavier stood, staring in awe at what he’d just done.

In awe of his first use of Soul Strike.

Though Xavier had certainly killed more enemies in a single strike than he had in that moment, that didn’t tell him much about the potential of the spell he’d just used.

Soul Strike. It had created an apparition of the soul he’d harvested. That apparition had soared through the enemy wyverns, taking all three down without leaving a single scratch on them.

Xavier stood on a floating chunk of rock in the middle of a great expanse of complete darkness, ten enemies flying toward him at a tremendous speed, closing a large distance—distance enough for him to think and move.

The only thing illuminating the space around him was his Spiritual Trifecta spell. The silver light that enveloped his body reached out around him only ten or so feet, to the edges of the platform he stood upon and no farther.

He was blind to the enemies that came t...

Again and again, Xavier controlled his aura, containing it within his Spirit Core. Until finally, he’d done it ten times in a row. And still with fifteen minutes remaining until the Tower of Champions reopened its door to them.

For the next day before the Tower of Champions opened its floors to them once more, all Xavier did was Meditate, create Lesser Spirit Coins, and focus on unlocking Aura-Control.

He figured it would be too much to focus on all three Skill Quests at once, and was aiming to unlock one at a time while he grew his understanding of his Spirit Core, auras, and Spirit Energy in general.

In the hours that he practised all of this, he managed to up his Meditation skill all the way to Rank 1...

Xavier snapped his eyes open. He was lying on the floor of the tavern, a stool overturned beside him, a candle tipped over, its wax leaking onto the floor though the flame had blown out.

Sam stood above him, a hand running through his hair, shaking his head. The bartender sighed. Turned away from Xavier without bothering to help him up, muttering to himself, “System-damned fool children from baby worlds trying to burn through their cores.”

Xavier felt like the universe wanted to open up to him. Like there was so much still left to learn. To discover.

Melissa Donavan watched from the trees.

The elves, she’d found, were difficult to kill. She’d only ever gone after them when they’d been alone. Killing them didn’t bring the feelings she’d expected—guilt, heartache, a sense of having done wrong.

No, killing them had felt right. Not good—but right.

There was a difference, she knew. A difference she understood in her heart. Maybe her soul, if such a thing existed.

It had taken him a full two days to kill all the members of his tutorial. The more of them he’d slain—luring them into dark alleys, taking them out when they were sleeping, or coming upon them when they were alone—the easier it had become.

Not from a moral standpoint. In that way, it had already been easy. Alistair Reed didn’t have any moral qualms about killing his own people. He didn...
