Place for comics

I'll get to the point! I'm building a website.

I'm turning the Star Stable comics I've drawn over the years into a website where you can read them for free and comment on them if you'd like, much like you could with Tistow in the past. I'm a smidge frustrated that they weren't given one before, so I'm going ahead and doing it myself.

I'm also looking at getting them translated into Finnish and Swedish at least and potentially contacting folk who have done fan translations on them ...

It's been a very very busy couple of months. ;-; I opened commissions little while back to recoup the cost of Tammie's upcoming surgery. It's been pushed back because of weather (winter in Shetland is very unkind, wet, windy and boggy). So I've got a bit of extra time to do more before it.

Apologies for the lack of posts here, I'll try to share what I've been up to more consistently, as long as there's no NDA involved. :D

Morrigan - comic concepts

This was. From some time ago now. Morrigan's model was floating around inside the team and I had to nab a snapshot for myself for the comic. The timeframe wasn't ideal but I chucked down some thoughts for myself at the time.

It's a very small hill I'm willing to fight on but the thought was that the player can't buy the exact replica of Morrigan ingame. Hence she has socks in the comic and her ferrymare form looks a bit different to the one Galloper rides ingame.

Comic - without text

I thought this might be interesting to share? The way I draw all my comics, is without text bubbles. That way if anything changes, there's no weird gaps underneath in post processing.

Comic tack

I'm super chuffed about this! It wasn't until today that I've actually been able to talk about this, but the new tack you earn from the quests during Galloper's event this year, was inspired by the one Morrigan wears in the comic I made last year. :D 

I got to see it during the texture phase and to comment on bits and pieces. I'm so happy with how it turned out, really thankful for the whole team that it's made it to the game.

Same goes for the hammer you wield in the quest b...

Morrigan and Potato

I love these two, I really do.

For those who have followed Morrigan's story in the comic, we're almost at the end of it now online. For this year at least. Hopefully next year we can do more.

The Ferrymare story was something we cooked up together with my editor. I feel like it puts a face on Morrigan and she's not just another horse companion without a voice. She's a very full on character and I've loved exploring that and her morals and relationship with Gunnar.

Another illustration from the same project. This is another one for the reject pile, once it's released it's not going to be quite in this form. I had a lot of fun scribbling these.

It ends a bit more abruptly than I'd like, but that's solely because of the update limit I was put on. ;-; I'd really like to have continued this a lot further.

Ferrymare's Gambit

Woop it's finally time! I've really been looking forward to sharing this with you all. It's been a really fun comic to work on with Christine from the book team. There's some new lore that we cooked up together for you all to enjoy. I really hope you like it!

There's still secrets to be revealed, lots of them, but she's more canon now than she was previously.

I made the design only for the comic originally, but after some discussion with the team, she's been transferred to a more animated form ingame. The only guideline I had at the time...

Beach Potato

Part 2 and 3! This is how the pages look before they're chopped up into Instagram format. You might notice slight differences to the released version, this is purely stuff like bubble placement to avoid sticking words in the trim line. They don't matter quite so much in a more traditional format!

Smithering

Character for Jaro, for now known as Rusa, though I'm not entirely sure yet if she'll have a spot in the story any time soon. My intention was originally not to, but I really do like her and what she does (blacksmithing and gardening) and she's eons older than any of the other giants.

Beasties

Patreon seems to have changed their layout again! D: Fingers crossed it works a bit smoother now than before!

Sabine

Character I didn't get the chance to show in a comic yet! She was mentioned on one occasion so far, but visually she's not visited my comics yet. Jay has had her own comic, as has Katja. So technically the trio -has- been given some limelight, but there's plenty of things we could still do with the Dark Riders. ♥

Midsummer in Jorvik

Happy Midsummer! The second part to this comic is done, you'll be able to read that towards the end of July. ;)
