Mace Jump Cleanup Animation

Early look for insiders...  Cleanup on Mace's jump.

At this stage, I find it hard to 'see' whether it's actually good or not...  No areas of value, and spidery little lines- if there's a shape area that has a weird jump, it can be virtually invisible.

Next, coloring the frames, and that's when we get the moment of truth.

I'm hopeful, though!  Really liking the squash & stretch we got at the end.

Convention: Megaplex

Convention news- the Vivid Publishing team is being welcomed to Megaplex this year.

https://megaplexcon.org/  (August 2020)

We were looking for a good venue to do something special, and we found it- in the Dealer’s Room this year, we'll run a playable sample of the Dreamkeepers video game.

Come visit Dave, Liz, Geo, Bone, and possibly more Vivid authors, and give the video game sample ...

Today's Art-ifact

Commission from way back, this is the 'safe for work' version.  I have personally titled this one "And The Raccoon Girl Is Allowed To Watch" or "What Is Going On With The Rabbit's Tail Obsession?"  I love it.

Dave & Liz vector inks

My first time vector-inking.  Also the references for me 'n Liz's character in the upcoming 'Vivid show'(working title, the actual title is still a trade secret.)

Practice and color references, may as well kill two birds with one stone!

Rough Stuff- Mace tests

Been prepping a lot of animation.   Drawing rough 'n dirty keyframes in pencil, then timing it out in Clipstudio where I can mess with adding in-betweens or editing frames that don't work well.   Then, cleanup on a vector layer, and boom!  We should be rolling.

Speaking of rolling...

Lilith Animation Test

You scared her!

#Animation test, my first done entirely in @clipstudiopaint and I've never had easier in-betweens.  Onionskin is glorious.  The Dreamkeepers animated short, video game, & the 2020 'Vivid show' just got a big step closer.

Anthrocon Over

We polled the readership asking where you wanted us. Over a hundred votes, thank you!

Anthrocon won by a landslide.

Those who were excited to meet us there, bad news.

Last year we were excluded, but it was the very first time AC staff took control of curation, so oversights were understandable. Thank you to the readers who took the time to get in touch after missing us. It was both heartwarming and painful to hear our absence left a hole in your experience.

Slingshot Orthographic

Orthographics for David's Slingshot corvette.

Big engines on the side give it a ton of kick- and quad ion-blasters deliver a rapid-fire punch.  Heat sink / cooling fins everywhere so we can pour on the action without hesitation during the critical moment.

Lateral jets on the fins give me a lot of maneuverability as well.

I'm thinking of making it blue.

A commission for Duneari, in this version Ghost, who has been banished with Wisp outside the walls, has created little dolls of him and her brought to life using his power.  Wisp is fascinated.  I personally loved this idea of fan backstory, and looked forward to his ideas for commissions.  The colored version will be seen tomorrow.

Bridge components

We stole the couch from Cowboy Bebop.  Spike can't stop us, he's dead.

Limited production budget, so we need each set-piece to have maximum versatility.  We can move the camera outside for a shot of the ship's upper deck.   Liz's navigation perch on the left will be able to mechanically lower.

Different layers of art will let us attain a very subtle dimensional effect with 3-D camera moves.  The upper deck guns aren't penciled, because we're planning to mo...

Relaxing Prelude Vi Commission Sculpt

I made a few figurines like this back in 2011, gifts for employees.  I mentioned it in passing, and a client appeared interested in obtaining her.  Making Vi from the Prelude print is a delight, couldn't pass it up.  She's about 8 inches long and 5 inches wide.  I need to make one for myself!  If anyone else is interested, email  dreamkeeperscomic@gmail.com for a price quote.  She lies flat on her back, but the back is also sculpted and painted.
