Early Release of My New Video for Patrons Only!

Hello all! My new video is done and I've decided to share it with you now before it goes live next year! I've decided to hold it back until the release of my new notation font, which is what this video is about. The font will be officially launched as the new default in MuseScore sometimes in early January. 

This means there's still some time for tweaking, so please let me know if you spot anything strange or incorrect.

Short Section from My Upcoming Video

Hi everyone, my next video is coming along quite nicely now. I thought you might like to see a short section of it, where I talk about an app called SCORE, created by Leland Smith, who was the main source inspiration for my new notation font (which is the main topic of the video).

A quick note: you'll hear me refer to a person called Simon. Just so you know, he's the co-creator of the font, who gets introduced a little earlier in the video.

I've been slogging away at the release of the next version of MuseScore, which will house my new notation font. My video about this effort (which is also a secret notation software review too) is going well.

I thought I might share a few scores which have been styled with the new default settings. The notation font alone is only 1/3 of the effort. Equally as important is the new text font and style settings too.

October Update

Hello everyone. After quite a few collabs and that fairly long Piano Trio video out of the way, I've now got stuck into a new video I'm really excited about.

It covers two things: 1. The notation font we are releasing in a few weeks (how I created it, etc.) and 2. The engraving app, SCORE, which provided much of the inspiration for the font. In a way, this kind of makes it another entry in the 'Music Software & Design' series.

The Music I Created in My Upcoming Video

Hi everyone. It's looking like we'll be releasing tonight. I've placed all the music I wrote for Hbomberguy's video here - including the RWBY song. If you need BG music for a video (or anything else), feel free to use any of these. They're all fairly silly :)

One other thing, I made a new t-shirt, which I advertise in the video (which I gather most of you have already seen). I'll be releasing a Patron-only version of that t-shirt shortly. It'll be much cheaper.

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update. I have two new videos which are both almost ready to go.

The first is a short video about a short piece of anime parody music I wrote as part of a collaboration with another well known YouTuber. Once his video goes out (very shortly) I'll follow up with mine. It's a pretty silly video... full of choice nonsense.

General Update

Hi all. I thought I'd let you know what the status is on my videos right now. I'm actually working on three things simultaneously.

1: Writing parody music for an anime. Some of the music I'm writing is accompanying an animated sequence but it appears that it might be a few weeks before the animators have completed their work on it, so I'm moving over to something else until their work is ready. I'm really enjoying this particular video. It's very unusual!

My Next Video (a Strange One) is Underway!

Hello folks! Now that Dorico is out of the way, I have loads of interesting stuff in my backlog that I'm planning on releasing quite quickly.

My next video (to be released in around a month or so) is an unusual one. I'm writing some parody anime music to be used by another YouTuber, who most of you will likely know. I'll tell you who it is shortly. The video will be about my process of creating the music - everything from research to notation to recording to mastering.

Changing My Patreon to Monthly

Hello everyone. Managed to get my kid in and out of the hospital without any particular drama (place is so quiet... it's bizarre). All clear. No issues that we can see.

So... it turns out one of my little guys has done something to his foot and is limping around the place. Just did a video conference call with a doctor who recommended that I take him to A&E for a precautionary X-ray and blood test. Nothing I can do.

You can't imagine the profound sense of joy I'm feeling to finally be at this point in the video!

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd check in. So...  it has been 5 months since I released and the good news is that I think we are looking at less than two weeks before the new one is out.

When I started the Dorico video, I wanted to take the review format as far as I think it can go: exploring how design decisions are made and how difficult it is to build interactive notation in greater detail than before. I also wanted to show real user-testing in action along with some more detailed...

Would you like to see a 10 minute section of the Dorico video or would you prefer to wait?

So, I'm looking at around 2-3 more weeks before release. The overall length will be about an hour.
