It’s Been an Event

As many of you know, I need surgery on my right knee. It’s not something I was looking forward to, but now that I know the facts—I’m eager.

Tibia plateau fractures account for 2% of fractures. Which means, this little, minute break is extremely rare, and extremely annoying. I still don’t know what caused the impact to damage my knee, but whatever it was, I truly did not feel it in the accident. All I remember is kicking open the car door and running away from the car.

Let’s Talk About Shadowing

Here is a quick, little video on how I shadow. In any case, shadowing should not be excessive or over the top. When applying digital paint, it’s important to understand how natural shadows are cast. 

In the instance of the eyes, less is more. You should realistically be focusing on lash lines, under eyes, and inner corners. Seldom to I ever graduate past the orbital; I don’t feel it’s necessary, and it tends to add an unrealistic flair to the image.

So, this was the beginning stages of this look. I had to apply at least seven coats of liquid latex and cotton balls around the perimeter of my mouth. Like I mention previously, this was really difficult for me to do because my slobber (see on my shirt) was coming out in droves.

Film Update!

Fuck, this is exciting! This is the film I’ll be a part of in December! I have to fly to Atlanta and sit in the makeup chair for some hours and get ready to make magic!

I’m still not sure if this what I want to make this piece, but Jesus Christ on a stick (ha!), this was hard to do. Working with scar wax alone to build a hollowed out orbital area is a PAIN IN THE FUCKING ASS. Not only that, not the Skin Illustrator I used around my eyes ended up GETTING into my eye and causing big time issues.

If anything, this just inspires me to start building my own prosthetics and learning to work with clay molding. Put all that together, and the crown of thorns...

Denial of Death Raw Edit (Video)

This is a rough edit of the video. Now, im happy. I’m very happy. The acting in this video is…I think…pretty goddamn good. Niuvis‘ ideas with the lighting, religious imagery and such allowed this video to be “passable”. Passable meaning not getting flagged by a fucking cancel culture asshat.
