My next historical project
Im home! Finally
One of the things I try to do for my patreon subs is tell you guys in advance what Im working on. When I came up with that as a perk it seemed like an easy one to do, but I forgot about ADHD 😆 Apparently I plan way less in advance than I thought I did.
However, big historical builds take time, so I have to start a big historical project basically right after dragoncon to have it ready for the following year.

WIP : ren faire outfit for next weekend
This weekend was extremely last minute (I had 2 hours to clothe 3 people) so my outfit was pretty slapdash, but I want to bring it for next weekend because we are going with friends who don't half ass their things

This is my favorite photo of myself. (It's not a nude you just can't see my bikini) It's from 2004 and it was taken by a Chicago photographer whose work I really love but also have mixed feelings about his role in the ... model industry.
He was generally super awesome to me but one time he took me aside to tell me I could really have a career in modeling if I could just lose ten pounds. I weighed 125# at the time (I'm 153# now for context). That did not make me feel awesome

Dr Mrs The Monarch Fitting
This is my old supersuit. Which doesn't fit right, and I know how to fix it but I haven't had time to make the new one (it's a bit of a process since i have to move the wings and logo over). And yesterday was my deadline for it because of scheduling reasons. So what I did instead is that I made a new swimm top (much faster than a new supersuit) out of the same fabric as the supersuit. And that works pretty well as a temporary solution for this year.
Also i painted a new pair of boots ...
Packing for Dragoncon
For , reasons, I have to be fully packed for dragon con tonight (even though it isn't for 9 more days). Naturally, I'm sewing at the last possible minute 🙄

A while back I thought hey, I love indy, I should do an Indiana Jones outfit
But then I thought, I can't do that unless I can properly use the whip
And then I thought, how hard can it be?
Long story short, part of the reason that I didn't post a lot of new stuff this week is that I had a self-inflicted welt on my face, because guess what, it turns out it's harder than i remember it being when I was a kid
But I'm pleased to report that today went by with zero whip...

Today is my best friend's birthday. Unfortunately, he died 967 days ago.
Today I called his mom and told her that the bookstore we built this year* is named Corner Books, for him. That was nice. It made her a little less sad.
She said she worries that no one will remember him. That had not occurred to me, because he was quite memorable and made such an impact on everyone he knew. Still, I thought I'd tell you guys about him so even more people remember.
