I think our soaps turned out pretty darn good! The sugar scrub really does kinda look like crystals, especially in Evan's purple ones where he formed a larger hole in the crystal. Plus we got to use one of our marble resin trays for display :D
After this video we'll take a break from soap for a bit to do some other projects, but we had to scratch this geode-soap-itch haha.

The first REAL soap we had to make was of course GEODE soap! Thought a sugar scrub embedded in the center was fitting - Evan

DON'T LEAVE SOAPS IN A HOT/HUMID GARAGE! They do this funky thing where the glycerin in the soap causes it to "sweat" and it forms these gel-like beads on the outside. Luckily, we could just wipe them off and they're fine.
Now that we know, we've cleaned them up and packaged them with shrink wrap... and they look even more like candy:

Phew, it feels SO good to have a little breathing room in our schedule to tackle some of the things that have been bothering us for so long. Our main tripod camera (GH5) now has unlimited battery life, a remote to start and stop recording, and MUCH improved audio (hopefully).
Turns out we just had to boost the signal strength from the lav mic receiver and turn it down on the camera which didn't have the best internal amp. Now there is so much less noise and we can hopefully spend ...

It's so bootyful. Each one of these is a little different, some have hidden layers, and the one on the upper right has some... unexpected ingredients ;P
We've said this probably 20 times to each other but soap making feels a lot like resin. You have cool mixins, you pour it into cool molds, everything is so pReTtY :D

We've been getting a lot of requests in the comments to try soap making. We started watching soap making videos and holy crap, it's like resin-adjacent! There are chemicals, pigments, interesting molds, mix-ins, time limits before the whole thing starts kicking... I'm super excited. Ahhh! We did it! It's been a crazy couple days (this project had to be super rushed to finish in time, and resin only dries so fast haha).
Been wanting to try to beach/ocean resin we see all over Instagram and Pinterest (if you wanna see a bunch of super awesome work, check out @crocreekdesigns on IG). Really happy with how it turned out!

Doing a beach-themed epoxy pour over that live edge cypress in the background. But first, on some test pieces of course because we don't trust ourselves! Also we won't be doing the whole piece of cypress, just enough for one of those bathtub trays/caddies that goes across your tub. So I guess if we ruin it we'll get another shot, but still, we feel a lot better if we practice on some cheap pine first haha.

Hey guys! Here's a sneak peek of what we made for Friday's video... we *attempted* resin planets!
They came out cool but maybe only somewhat planet-esque haha. Doesn't matter too much though, it was fun :)
Plus it was the first video we shot in the new and improved shop! (doesn't it look nice in the background?)
Anyways, happy early 4th to those of you who celebrate it!
We got a pressure pot to remove bubbles.... the first resin creation is currently in there since last night and we haven't taken it out to look yet, so we'll see if it worked haha!
We have these spherical molds meant for fancy ice cubes and we're attempting resin planets. Evan is doing Earth (or an "Earth-like" planet... haha)

It's been a bit bumpy and took a longer than we thought but we've made a ton of progress! Yes the shelves are still empty but it already looks so much better :D

Filming the final destruction scenes yesterday was SO much fun. We had a blast, everything went pretty well, much laughter and excitement, and we got some great footage.
