Hey, so I messed up the tabs (missing the B section...) in the video that I recently uploaded - https://youtu.be/mGzmi6Xltsg
Here's a corrected version that includes the B section (see attached).

Hello!
Here are 24 of my favourite open chord shapes in standard tuning (see attached). These are shapes that work in fairly guitar friendly keys such as C, E, and B.
I'll be coming out with a video on this subject in a few weeks so stay on the look out for that, but for now, enjoy the chords!

I'll be coming out with a video on this subject soon, but for now, enjoy the chords!

Hey guys, here's the mp3 track to an upcoming video on strumming patterns / rhythms in 6/8 time. I worked decently hard on trying to make a really solid recording of this song. Hope you guys like it! The video will be up next week.

Hey guys, hope you are all well. Sorry for the infrequency of my posting lately. I'm just coming up to the final three weeks of school.
I just wanted to share this little method I've been using to increase the difficulty on some of my technique exercises. Hopefully it helps, and hopefully I explained it well enough....
I'm going to get back to making YouTube videos starting in mid April but until then, this crapy phone video is all I've got.

Hey everyone, sorry that I missed a few weeks on this. Here's what I hope is some good advice.
1) A riff might be hard to play because it's not arranged well. By this I mean, the fingerings and specific placements of chosen notes might not be the smoothest or most efficient. For instance, there are several different spots on the neck that can be used to play the same middle C note. Think hard about whether the fingerings in your line cause you to reach for a note that is actually ...

A few tidbits of random music related advice that speaks to my musical experiences lately.
1) If you're feeling anything in your wrists (pain, stiffness), ice them! Truth be told, if you play a lot of guitar then icing your wrists should become a regular habit so that you can avoid things like tendonitis. I've been seeing guitarists fall victim to this a lot more lately.
2) When writing, try to be aware of the fact that there are times when we play purely by means of mechani...

Hi guys, I'm thinking about doing this little thing weekly where I give you guys some quick thoughts on things I've been thinking about lately in relation to guitar, practice, and composition. Hopefully these little aphorisms are things you can digest and keep in the back of your head (that's what I do at least).
1) Always be playing guitar (or whatever instrument you play). Do as much as you can to play more. The best way to develop is to become really immersed in playing so...

Hi guys, see attached for the PDF of the sheet music for this lesson. Also make sure to check out the video I provided as that should help to explain how this all works. PS --- the riff that I wrote for you guys is a two hand tapping riff in an alternate tuning...
Anyways, what we've got here is a lesson on musical form. These ideas come from a teacher of mine (Ken Morrison), who taught me about simple musical structures.
The general idea here is that one way to arrange an i...

Hey everybody, as a Christmas gift to you all I've gone ahead and transcribed my song "Kelowna". Please see attached for the tab.
If you haven't heard this song, you can listen to a recorded version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCIBbCzhGFk
This song was a challenge in working with some simpler melodic ideas. I tried to develop them slowly and create some cohesion between all the sect...

Hey guys, I've just produced a new PDF lesson for you all on the subject of Drop 3 chords and their inversions. It's a bit of a complicated subject but I think that this is really powerful knowledge to have and the concepts here, if you can understand them, can really help you to get into some sophisticated territory with your chord knowledge and melodic harmonizations. I really recommend that you guys carefully study this package of notes and chord diagrams and do your best to implement t...

Hey guys!
If you listened to my most previous post and you liked that song, then you can also learn to play it on guitar! I've put together a full transcription of the piece which includes lead sheet information, standard notation, and guitar tabs.
The chart is a work in progress so it might get updated, but it's fairly accurate. Enjoy and treat the song as an exercise. It will really work out your left hand! Also, this transcription took me like 8 hours to make so some blood and sweat d...

Hey guys, just wanted to share a recording of a "yet to be released" track that I played on / wrote with some local musicians. The track is kind of a fun lo-fi jazzy guitar tinged song with some kid friendly pop vibes....
All the guitar work was done by yours truly and the bass was covered by my Polarhorse bandmate, Daniel. I actually have no idea who sang vocals overtop of this but credit to her, she did a great job! Also credit to our producer / beat writer, Chang Ru Chen for his awesome key...

Heyo!
Another Zoo Strategies tab for you guys. I'll be making a quick transcription video for this riff but I wanted to give you guys the jump on the tab. I'll be working on more riffs from this song in the future so stay tuned.
Also the tuning is in CGDGBD. Originally it was in DAEAC#E, but why would we want to tune so high up? Darn you, past Trevor.
