It's been a while since I've done a Shoegaze progression! This one combines my new found love of open tunings with capos with some Whirr style Shoegaze tones. I wanted to create something that sounds heavy, intense, and huge. Hopefully this goes to show that open tunings are useful for a variety of genres and it's really all about how you arrange your ideas. Happy practicing!

Here's a little song that captures the mood of that cloud moving from point A to point B. Musically, this song tries to capture the slow evolution of simple triads mixed in with some diminished chords and 7th chords. Hope you like it! By the way, this progression has nothing to do with the band Tiny Moving Parts haha.

These voicings are a bit more spread out (as in they're voiced as 1-7-3, instead of 1-3-7), giving them a nice airy sound. I think these are super versatile shapes and are definitely worth learning, regardless of the style you play.

Howard Shore uses this progression in many of the pivotal emotional sequences in the movies. It's amazing how powerful this progression is at evoking emotion. If you are looking for shapes to use in many different ideas, I really recommend digging into the major 7 shapes, V7sus4 shapes, and some of the shell voicing ideas. Have fun practicing!

I usually use this tuning to write Math Rock and Emo stuff, but I think it works really well for this style too! On a personal note, I'm quite happy with how this short composition has turned out, I think it might be my best (of the Shoegaze progressions) so far. Hope you like it!

In this one, I stick to the quarter note chugging feel but instead, I try a progression with some different shapes and more major 9 chords. Surprisingly, I don't tend to hear major 9 used quite as much as major 7 or add9 in this style so I thought I'd try and see what I can do with it (since it's like my go to chord haha)
