Early Sept Studies + Notes + Video Process

OKAY so I thought this would be a little follow up of the How to Study guide but this wasn’t planned at all lol. I wanted to study how to keep movement and gesture in my drawings using video references. So I went to YouTube, typed dance video and put it at 0.25x speed, which is the slowest. When I saw a decent looking pose, I would pause and draw it. 

I recommend this practice because often times, a lot of photographs are staged! So it lacks the energy that people actually have. ...

The Blooming Witch

SO. If you ever took a look at my Twitter, you'd have seen me post this!

Forest Process

Go back and then forward to see my process! I loved how the plants and forest turned out, this was a very informative illustration for me!

I used gradient maps as I went along! I switched between csp and procreate too. Like I didn’t know I could switch so much?? I used Procreate for textures and csp to paint and do the gradient maps.

From Characters to BGs Update

So yaaaaay you may have seen me announce it on my Twitter but I'm making a Backgrounds for Beginners tutorial. If you have no idea where to start doing them, I help you out, give you tips, and you'll follow along my process for doing them! Take a look at what I have planned!

Mother’s Glory

My comic coming out in October for the Shortbox comic fair!

It’s about a father and his daughter in a post apocalyptic setting! (20 pages!) Incredibly happy with how everything’s turning out. All my bg practice is really showing thru and I couldn’t be any happier! I’ll be done or mostly done in June! Have other comic projects to do + my webcomic so I’d just like to get it done now and have peace of mind that its done.

Early June Studies

June is moving a bit Too fast can it like slow down 😭😭

Phew and that’s the end of May! I’m decently happy with May studies, I feel like I really made a lot of progress with my backgrounds, colors and painting! On to June!!

Clouds (Notes + Process)

Phew this was a week of clouds!! They are in the order that I did them in!

I initially started it for a homework- to do an illustration based on an emotion. So I wanted to do a series of clouds based on emotion and push the colors as much as I could.

The first few ones were practice and I don't like them much lol. The very first cloud was horrible but I did learn a lot. I learned that I was focusing on my clouds being colorful and using textures I forgot my fundamentals...

Week 4- Composition Process

This isn’t actually a study but an illustration! I even did lil thumbnails for once in my life 😩😩 enjoy another process! I spent like 3 days on the lanterns alone and i don’t like the rest lol. I did those patterns in procreate using the symmetry ruler then copied and pasted them in Clip Studio Paint and liquified them into perspective. That alone I don’t  know whyyy it took so long 😭

Project Update (April)

My indecisive self cannot pick which project to focus on 😭

‘But anyway I’m working on a short comic called Shapeshifter and finally finishing my gesture  tutorial. Both are taking up less physical energy, more mental energy lol. I’m not doing any freelance stuff right now so I can work on these.

Week 3 - light and atmosphere

This was way faster than the first one and a lot less struggling. I got tired towards the end but nonetheless I loved doing these and I learned so so much!

I’m excited to paint another room or even outdoors using the things I learned!

So at the end, all my lighting conditions in one;

1- daytime lighting

2- blue hour with warm lamp light

3- golden hour

4- nigh time with fairy lights

Sketches and Mood Boards

I did some sketches today! Trying to get used to drawing them!

And also spent a few minutes on Pinterest trying to find inspiration for their characters. I mainly do that to get a better grasp of their personalities. Clothes can really tell more about a character. So I tend to do this for almost all my characters that are in longer format comics!

18.03 Painting Process

I finally remembered to record it this time! Though I didn’t actually record everything. Just the main painting process. Took about 25-30 mins in total. Mostly done in CSP though i took it to Procreate after to liquify some parts. This is a relative New process for my paintings, just wanted to be looser with color. This video is not sped up!
