So here I wanted to explain my thought process for when I study and hit a roadblock.
When you study and you’re just having a hard time figuring out why it’s not working, best thing to do is take a step back. What is the point of the study, what are you trying to achieve, what do you want it to look like, why did you start the study in the first place, when did it start going wrong, right at the start? The middle, or the end?
You need to actually ask yourself this question.

Just a little note, I’m currently working on backgrounds more and studying anatomy on the side. I tried to freehand the building you see in the 3rd pic and boy I immediately knew something was off about it so I just tried to trace it and i learned a lot from tracing!!
Before I went off to try perspective grids, I researched other artists to see how they used their grids. i watched how they started with the grid and how they would use it for bigger and smaller objects.
I already know ...

Here are some of my traditional studies! I'm pretty rusty with traditional, I kept trying to undo the paper T_T but after all these, I feel like everything's coming back! And even anatomy, it's been a Good While, like over a year?? More?? Of not studying it. Been procrastinating orz. I need a few more pages of these to remember
My Sketchbook is the Articka Note Hardcover Sketchbook and my pencil is a regular cheap mechanical pencil lol. I like the Sketchbook cuz the paper is really th...

May isn’t over yet but what a month! I finished up a freelance gig and I had a lot of time to study! Except, I forgot how to draw for a bit T_T Plus I’m trying out new techniques and processes for painting, so you’ll see a variety of things I chose to study, some unfinished, some finished, the good and the very very ugly!!
I’m also doing traditional anatomy studies, I’ll see if I can post some of them as well. Hope everyone is doing good, wishing a great rest of May and happy Ju...

Hiiiii long time no post haha, I’ve been studying a lot behind the scenes, so I have some things saved to post hehehe. I have for you all a study, process notes along with my psd!
Regarding the psd, as usual please don’t add on to my art or modify it. You may turn off and on the layers, move them around or even change the layers, but at the end of the day, the original art should not have changed, meaning you may not draw on it, add on to it in any form or way! That’s my condition f...

** Warning there's a bunch of flashes of images!
I wanted to post these commission processes because I just wanted to say to trust the process! Sometimes things have to look shit at first to be beautiful at the end 😌 take my wise words
also hopefully by posting these, someone out there can feel better about having "bad" sketches! They aren’t supposed to be neat or fine, sketches are only supposed to get your idea down! Keep pushing, keep going! Don’t give up on pieces ...

Noticed I was falling into studying too much (which is actually bad thing lol*) so I switched to sketching!
*Just a little explanation why it’s bad to study too much, think of studying as training for a sport… that’s just it. If you study too much you’re only training, you aren’t putting anything into practice! You aren’t playing the sport >;U
If you got my how to study guide, I mentioned it there that you need a balance of studying, practicing AND observation.

Here’s the video process for the study I showed earlier! The individual pics are coming next 🫡🫡
The PSD is also attached so I hope you can sort of get an insight to my process.
As usual please don’t touch my study, you may turn on and off my layers, change them, move them around, but at the end of the day, my art should never have been changed. Meaning you can’t draw on it, add on it, erase anything and so on.

I completed 30 studies in Jan and these were my faves (tbh the rest were ugly) and Included the refs as well! In my next post, I’ll share some process pics as well as a psd so you can see my process for them!! Notice me doing multiple in a day lol I was crunching these studies to make my 30 for the month 😭
My focus for January was mainly on painting so I’m thinking of moving to anatomy and people studies for February! Thank you so much for the support in January and for February ...

So this was my reference, I went off that and started sketching away

I added some commentary only because I had a lot of thoughts compiling this lol
And with that 2022 comes to an end! After compiling all my studies I realized… I didn’t study as much as I wanted. So this year I made a challenge to myself, 30 studies a month, I can skip days, I can do multiple in a day as long as I make 30 in a month.

A little change of plans, the skintones tutorial was pushed back to February so I can make a little ‘how to make comics" tutorial because I want to seriously take on making my indie graphic novel this year, I want everyone to join me in making comics they want to make! I’m trying to get a bunch of studying done before the year ends and hopefully my schedule clears up so I can focus on studying more. You’ll probably see a lot of ugly studies because I’m trying to loosen up and experiment! I’ve come very far this year, especially in bgs and color and light. I know it’s always easy to lose sight of how far you’ve come when all you see are your recent studies, but I can just feel that I’ve gotten so much better.
I may not have gott...

GOD KNOWS I tried sooooo many other colors than I have shown. I went through probably... over 50 color schemes, wish I was kidding LOL
Just wanted to show yall that for colors especially, I go thru multiple ideas before settling on the final. Basically I kept going, trying different gradient maps, using the color jitter pen, using ALL the layer modes, combining all of the above at once just to see what I could get. Till I hit a point where I went "THIS IS IT!"
It’s also a good...

Helloooo everyone!! I've probably studied more the past few days than I have the whole year. Maybe it was the study demo but I was really motivated to study more these days!!
A lot of it was unfinished and I find them ugly, but I still think they are worth showing!
Following up on the study demo, my goal for all these studies was to find out how to incorporate textures into my work more. It was hard, I don't think I fully did it, but I know I'm one step closer!!
