just an update

Hey. Here's an update to let folks know where I'm at with this patreon. I am thinking maybe a break is needed from my work in comics and am already taking it. I haven't really worked on anything in a while, save for some normal doodling, which keeps me sane. For the first time in a while (?) comics aren't really my job. And with that freedom came a kind of overwhelming feeling of too much to consider and I have to stop and actually think about what the hell I want to do next.

Hello again. Welcome back to This. Still fighting thru my first covid encounter (getting better) and really thinking about what the hell I am doing next with my life as a cartoonist. When I was younger and starting to put my work online, it felt like I could do 1000 things and more! And I tried 1000 things, characters, stories, etc, and failed a lot. Just seeing what stuck. I was like a line on a paper going all over the place.

Now, if my math is correct, this would be the last strip I have to give Comics Kingdom/King Features. Then my contract is up and we go our separate ways. Maybe! My math is spotty, but I double/triple-check my shit.

It was neat to try, and I'll always give them props for giving me a go. But I don't really know where I want to go with my work in comics right now. Webcomics aren't really the same anymore, unless you got a decade-long run still going. I may have been in the game for a while...

Need to peel off the remainder of God's Hands contractually left. Going through my notes of ideas and this one turned into a longer bit I had to do The Ol' Fashioned Way (on my drawing tablet and overthinking the dialogue as I draw and edit on the fly). All the while we childishly toe the line for decency. How long is yours?

drawings dump (1/6/2024)

Working on 1000 ideas as the new year finally hits me. I thought I'd look back on what I did last year and share some drawings. IN ORDER THEY ARE:

Another 2 weeks of God's Hands for King Features. I wonder if any of these will pass the editoral mustard. I was told PG-13 was going to be absolute minimum for jokes, but they get weird about a lot of things. Might as well send these to my mother and have her get mad at me.

A clean 15 comics are left, but these are definitely going to be my last comics of the year. Maybe. Thanks for everything, folks!
