Rosie and Japes Animation WIP#2

This‘ll be it for this month, as I’ve got to get some Jackanapes and commission and sketches done. But this is 60 drawings! Still to come is some animation of Japes’s face, some other finishing touches like irises, maaaybe some more hair movementand then I can get to coloring.

Rosie And Japes Animation WIP#1

Usually, in something like this, I’d animate the face first, then go back and try to loop the body action. But, live and learn— this time, working on perfecting the short loop of the thrust and booby jiggle first. Then plan on duplicating the loop and animating the head and facial movements over the longer stretch.

Your Next Animation

Took me forever to decide on the pose I’ll be animating, after Rosie eked out a win in the last poll. But it’ll be the top, center one. It’ll be work-intensive, but hopefully worth it.

Uncertain WIP

My original Christmas drawing wasn’t turning out too well, and I felt like I needed to start over. Drawing “realistic” overactivates my inner compulsive perfectionist, and so drawing cartoony offers a much-needed reset (in case anybody wonders why I work in so many styles).
So, anyway, I started drawing this, the idea being, an “ugly Christmas sweater contest” but then I figured out how to salvage the original drawing. So this’ll likely be reworked into something non-Christmas...

I’m not doing any more “real people” drawings after this one, mostly because it perturbs my inner perfectionist that I can only kinda/sorta capture their likeness. But it kinda sorta looks like Kelly Bundy from Married…With Children, right? Done for a very nice highest-tier supporter.

I think I packed more puns, comic historical and contemporary allusions, and very subtle sly jokes than typical into this sequence. They probably didn’t all land, but they make me chuckle. I do wonder if anyone else gets them all.

So, previously, my animation problem was Procreate’s 2 gif quality outputs: 50mb normal resolution gifs that played like a slideshow on the web, or 2mb “web-ready” gifs that were appallingly low quality. I have, however, found and invested in a new gif editor that outputs a nice medium-quality image, which I’m gonna share with you all.
