X-Ray Failure EP03 and CNC Parts
I've spent all week trying to get the x-ray machine going, but something always ended up arcing / smoking or just not emitting. The more time I spent with it, the harder it got to give up. But I think there it is a good solution: I'll just make an independent adjustable short-circuitable 100 kV supply and run the tube outside of any confined, conductive aluminium head unit.
Also I'll do a little road trip to Bavaria on Saturday to fetch a few hundred kg of metal. Will document thoroughl...

I was pretty sure that that low budget Chinese geiger counter was registering heavy x-ray activity ... but since no camera sensor appears to pick up anything maybe it's just a fault in the x-ray machine after all?

Was thinking about buying this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/132904582729
But kinda lost interest when it crossed the 1000 EUR line 😵

Should we try and power them up? Seems like they are pretty self-sufficient

You may know most of this already, I am just releasing a summary for boosted holiday views 😏

Had a bit more than just a common household variety cold: Festive sinus infection :(
Also: Upgraded corexy belt drive components purchased over a month ago - not here yet. The grand laser compilation is ... challenged.

which have been kept still and at 30°C +/-0.1 for months PLUS measurement results from my best voltmeters. Applications in the comments please, most hearts next Sunday win!

I want to make some room in this 'oven' for more modern voltage references and maybe other stuff. The weston cells will have to settle down at ideally 30°C after turbulent shipping, but they don't take lasting damage from overtur...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I am way too far away from my field of expertise here :)

Sorry for the lack of dailies, guys - caught quite the cold in this guys drafty workshop, but we are almost at a chip making state. He's not quite comfortable around the software tho ("Listen, boys, do I have to take a course before I can machine something?")
Major lazer video this weekend I hope!

Safe to skip, nothing interesting happening here. You might see the result in future videos tho :)

I've had some way too detailed explanations of bass reflex and transmission line speakers in here, that I deleted in the end - because I don't really understand what these speakers are myself ... but they are neat!

I've bought some stronger belts and pulleys for the corexy thingy, but not sure when those arrive from China - so I thought I'd start adding mirrors n stuff!

The last thingy is actually an argon laser with variable wavelength if it works ... Low power but probably a nice teardown? Or does anyone know a proper application for something like that?

New stuff starts at around 3:00 I think. Did my best to show this kit fairly and neutrally, I think the end result is cool, but the kit is still too expensive. Now Elektor can decide if they want it published.

Should I acquire an armored laser fiber and mount one of the new blue guys on one side of this machine? Then we could show EleksMaker what a real laser machine is :)

Felt like this was getting a bit too negative because it's not that terrible ... but almost :|
The quest for GT2 idler pulleys with Di=8mm is still on, I am trying to print them, but shrinking makes it difficult ...

I am feeling 26.5% bad about this, because the poor Chinese guy who sent this probably doesn't know a thing about it. He's now looking forward to his great success from business with westerners and social media marketing - any will be sorely disappointed :(
But then again, maybe I can spare him a lot of trouble with unhappy customers :)
