Behind the Scenes #9 and Giveaways!

Howdy mini family! We got a couple things on the table so lets not delay!

1. I finished up the Lord Executioner this week:

The video will be out for early release, but I'm not sure if I'll finish it ...

Over $1,000???

Holy calamity, scream insanity! When I started patreon in January I had never anticipated for it to grow this quickly. I am amazed at your guys' support and generosity. My lack of foresight is clearly evident in my inability to accomplish the first goal I had set out to accomplish, the "Kill Your Friends" series. Permit me to explain what is going on with that series.

If you've been following along with patreon a while back, I said I took a carpentry course at a local high school with th...

Early release!

Sorry about the delay! Had some tech issues I had to resolve. Let me know what you think! I incorporated some music and some fancy edits into this one. Does it add to the experience?

And apparently the audio is clipping for this, so I'll need to re-upload it!

What up, mini family?!

This week I worked on making a video about the process of trying to replicate a "forge fresh" weapon. Something like this:

A nice bright glow, a subtle blend to a dark grey matte metal, and lots of scale flaking off.

I started with a blend like this, b...

Early release!

Hey y'all. Here's the video about highlight and shadow placement. I'd love to know if this is helpful or not. Please let me know!

I didn't do a BTS post this week because I really didn't do anything other than edit in this past week (working on this video). As it wasn't really interesting, I figured I'd skip the post. I should be doing some interesting stuff this coming week, though!

Behind the Scenes #7

Ahh! I'm late again!

This week I started on two new videos. The first video is called "How to Highlight Almost Everything". The #1 feedback I give to people who paint in a GW style is to  highlight the miniature more realistically, giving volume to each portion of the miniature. I find myself explaining how this works over and over again, so I figure I should just make a video of it that I can reference.

Not-so-early release!

As mentioned in my BTS #6, this one is going public at the same time as you guys are getting it. Sorry about that!

Behind the Scenes #6

I'm a day late!

I've had a pretty relaxed last week. I had a friend over on the weekend and we played a lot of video games (far too much). The video I prereleased last Friday cannot go live this Friday due to a timing restriction from the sponsor, so that will go public next Friday, August 31st. That means that the video coming out this Friday (tomorrow) will skip the early release process.

The video coming out tomorrow will announce the winners to the Miniac Meat Grinder! Th...

Behind the Scenes #5

We got a gear heavy post!

1. All that gear I talked about last week showed up! I'd like to talk about what needs each piece of gear fulfills.

The Cinevate Duzi 4 is a slider. My previous slider was pretty terrible for getting nice buttery smooth slides. Sliders in general are great for adding motion to your shot but they require some skill to use. Even a slight hand shake will transm...

New release!

This is one of the videos I referenced in my BTS #4 post. Lots of settings changes, drop in audio quality, always super close to the camera. Let me know what you think!

Behind the Scenes #4

1. I finished up the terrain collaboration with Wyloch Armory, as you already know. In the final shots, I busted out my slider which I never use to get some nicer beauty shots of the final product and boy do I hate my slider. It's not smooth at all, it's hard to mount on a tripod, and the legs are super hard to take off. So, I bought a Cinevate Duzi 4 and it's on it's way to me and I'll talk about it next week. I have a little ballhead attached to the base of the slider to make adjusting the cam...

Early release!

I bit off a little bit more than I could chew with this video, which is why its a day late. The video ended up being longer than I anticipated. There are a few drops in energy throughout the video that I'm trying to work on so the video stays engaging and entertaining. Let me know what you guys think!

Multi-part Series

With the 1 video a week schedule I'm finding it very difficult to actually paint miniatures for videos (and indeed paint miniatures at all). I've always liked having the entire painting process in a single video, as a opposed to breaking it up, but for the sake of having videos on the channel wherein I actually paint miniatures would you be opposed to having like a 2-3 part video series of a single miniature?

Behind the Scenes #3

This past week was good! Here's what went down:

1. I went to Wisconsin to visit Sam Lenz, Tom Ales, and a few others for a weekend paint jam. I got to paint up another guildball model. It was the first model that I've painted in a while and it felt good.

2. I worked on a terrain collab with Wyloch, a terrrain youtuber. Making terrain is a lot of fun! Any video wherein...

Our TMM saga continues this week with more sytrene sheet painting! We explore the world of what to thin your metallics with (and probably any acrylic paint for that matter).

Behind the Scenes #2

Sorry for being a day late! This entire week I was in New York City, but I still managed to do some youtube stuff that was particularly mad scientist like.

I'm testing thinners for metals, as you guys know, and the most important test is how well the paint flows off of the brush while not effecting opacity the most. This is kind of hard to do in a repeatable way so I had to come up with something. I came up with this brush sled thing that holds the brush at a specific distance from the b...

Quick Mini Hacks!

Here's a fun skit video that I mentioned in my BTS post!

Behind the Scenes #1

I want to start a weekly post where I talk about what's going on behind the scenes on the channel that's exclusive to patreon, so let's kick it off!

1. This week I'm off to New York for my 5th year anniversary with my wife, so I had to plan an easy video for this Friday because I'm essentially losing a week's worth of editing/painting time (but gaining vacation). So I have a funny skit coming out this Friday all about terrible miniature painting advice. I hope you like it. In terms of pr...

Hell Made Manifest!

Hello lovely patrons! Trent from miscast terrain and I did a collaboration recently. We both tried to render Hell on a piece of terrain no larger than 20cm in diameter and we had 6 days to do it! It was quite a time crunch. Video comes out for early release tomorrow! I've never done a terrain build on my channel and I'm excited to see if people like it. I am experimenting a little with the video format, so you'll have to let me know!

New series!
