Australian's abroad in the 1850 and 1900s would do/be asked to do this at parties, where they were sort of paraded and mocked for their sort of second class status as occupants of one of the 'dominions'. Tasteless Provencal hillbillies pretty much was how the british looked upon the little colony. More situationally sensitive Australians would find it humiliating and generall...

Miniatures 1-3

Since I began painting miniature figurines around 2020 I collected every wet palette I finished., squirreling them away for an eventual project, this being it. the fourth and final set it still in process. Spiritually this project is in line with the last traditional art I can remember doing in approximately 2017 where I built a 2 foot kangaroo sculpture out of beer bottle caps I'd consumed. I like that it gives another level to the pieces, reusing waste items. blah blah it looks pretty I thi...

I've finally over the last couple weeks brought myself back to working with some traditional media. It's been refreshing to direct myself outside my typical methods and style. Now if only I knew how to frame canvas without either buying a woodworking shop or paying a million bucks.

I'm lazy so I'll just be a POS and directly lift this from wikipedia "Throughout the 14th and 15th centuries, most European frames were church-commissioned and largely unmovable as they were altarpieces and a large part of the church's architecture. The frames were ornamented with architectural elements mimicking the exteriors of the great cathedrals."

With that context I'm fond of this page/panel using but breaking the frame.  While our heroes ultimately are the product of their t...

I had the version of this with the character rendered as per my usual style and then realized I liked the bg style better.

Had to pay homage to daddy. It'd been a minute. When in doubt just write "g'day" and call it complete. Extremely lazy. I still like how he came out.

I'd say this marks the entrance into the true part two of the story. I'm trying to think of how to phrase some of the #BIGTHOUGHTS about my artistic intentions without sounding A. Wanky or B. committing the sin of telling the viewer what things are instead of simply showing them.  But I guess in short between the parts a major theme I wanted to explore was the structural ideas of redemption and justice vs a individual  and personal understanding.

I'll need to gather my ...

Process?

Curious as to how most would prefer. I enjoy process but definitely with things like Enormities, I could see how that would maybe interrupt the flow of the story (more than how long it takes to come out? who knows.) Lemme know your thoughts as well. Cheers.

There are no safe places #2

Another one from the vault circa 2012. Man it's been a long time since I used an ink brush.  For a first serious comic effort I think it came out pretty great. Psychosis or conspiracy? I mean, the clues are there.
