Hey everyone,

I lost power at the shop overnight and my print didn't finish so I've been playing catch up. What I hope is the final version of the VAMP turret goes back on the printer tonight but I'll be flying out of town for the weekend in the morning. If all goes well I should have in on Monday.

VAMP Turret Update

Test print #2 is done and I just have to tweak the guts of this thing a little bit more to make the pom-pom action a little more smooth. Test print #3 will hit the printer tomorrow and if its good (and I expect it to be) I should have the files on here for you on Tuesday.

Quick Test Print

I knocked out the first test print of the VAMP Turret. Pretty much ever point that is meant to pivot is too loose. The POM POM action works but could be better. Tweaking in progress. Oddly I think the scale is OK. It looks a pinch too big here but in hand it looks a pinch too small.

That VAMP Gun

I've received A LOT of requests for a RETRO turret for the Classified VAMP. I figured this could be a quick easy one. The engineering on the inside isn't bad but I know I'll have to tweak some tolerances to dial it in. Once I have a working model I'll be selling prints and the files on Etsy. You will get the files here if you are a member of the STL Club or higher tears.

Ravage STL files

This should all make sense, let me know if you have issues. Some files are duplicates like the ball joints for the legs, print those twice. Links for the tail print 5 or 6 times. I use ChituBoxPro and assembled my chain in that from the 2 chain link files I've provided.

No, it does not transform.

When I have time I am trying to get some good pieces knocked out for my portfolio. The first articulated figure that I have put together for it is the Decepticon's Ravage. Not including his segmented posable tail he has 18 points of articulation. Another 8 poa in the tail. Design went pretty quick on this one with about a week of dialing the tolerances for the ball joints. I 3d printed this whole thing (including the chain leash) on my Elegoo Jupiter. I'm trying out some new resin and I reall...

This is not the final anything, but probably pretty close to what will be offered in the custom class. 

Order of Battle Podcast

Chris Scott, Brian Sauer, and I were on the Order of Battle Podcast recently to make the first announcement for the JOEFEST 2024 Custom Class. Chris and I will be on What's on JOE Mind (WOJM) in 3 weeks (March 5th).(https://www.youtube.com/@WOJMWhatsOnJoeMind). The plan is to have good product shots of a well painted custom kit by then. 

Cobra Warlord Vest

Rounding out the evil Sgt Slaughter look is this vest. A little bit of Viper, a little bit of Crimson Guard, a little bit of Iraqi Sympathizer Sgt Slaughter. It was a bit of a challenge sculpting something to fit the G.I. JOE Classified Sgt Slaughter because his proportions are almost inhuman. 

I'm very happy how everything turned out. I will be 3D printing all 4 items for the JOE FEST 2024 custom class. Chris Scott will be instructing participants on painting. 

I call it the AKG

Chris and I agreed that a SGT  Slaughter turned to COBRA by Dr. Mindbender would need to have an absolutely ridiculous gun. Chris's solution was the concept for this AK style grenade launcher with underslung pump action shotgun. 

Not the most exciting

This is a Classified scale beret for the JOEFEST 2024 custom class. Never made a beret before. Turns out it was very easy. More to come.

JOEFEST Custom Class

At JOEFEST this year (2024) I will bill helping my good friend Chris Scott of Grindhouse Toys with the custom class. In previous years this class was put on by JE Russell of Chicken Fried Toys (Dime Novel Legends) who is stepping down this year.

Mutt Accessories

Attached are .stl files for 3xG.I.JOE Classified Mutt accessories. The MAC-11 and Billy Club that I designed for the G.I. JOE 3D Printing Podcast and a loop that attaches to Mutt's belt to hold the knightstick that comes with the figure. 

Mutt

We did the G.I. JOE 3D Printing Podcast this last Saturday morning. In case you missed it, I created some accessories for Mutt. The MAC-11 and Billy Club both needed some tweaks and the updated files are test printing now. After the show I thought about something Mike said about wanted a p[lace for accessories on the figure and I came up with this simple clip design for Mutt's nightstick. I'll post all the files here as soon as I'm satisfied with the results. 

Happy New Year!

I ended last year/started the new year with a brutal case of COVID. I'm on the mend but my wife and I had some rough days for a while there. 

I've finished up my designs for Operation: Recall so if you are following that, I'm sure Carson will be posting images soon. I'll be finishing up another round of weapons and accessories for Action Force (hopefully this week) and plan to use the rest of the month to work on Portfolio and Patreon pieces. Axles

The models I design are meant to be used by folks with FDM, Resin printers, or both. One part always bothers me. Axles. To be truly round they should be printed at a 90 degree angle to your print bed. That said, for FDM this puts the layers lines perpendicular to how the final vehicle will print and is not the strongest. Additionally, resin prints end up fairly heavy and can cause axles to bow over time. Neither is ideal.

The stickers finally arrived. I am making a few minor tweaks and will be ordering a larger batch today or tomorrow. With a little luck we will have them before the month is out.

Retro Eel Gear

Test prints were successful but I need to tweak a few things to make them a better fit. Primarily the peg for the back pack needs a little angle and the hole is a bit more shallow than I realized. I'm making the changes now and get a new test print going over night. 

FDM Printing HYDRO-SLED Sheild

This is how we've oriented and supported the shield for printing on our CR10-V3. I had one failure because it came loose from the plate but have printed 6 or 7 successfully.
