I'm just about done making adjustments to the ASP files. Thanks again for your support and patience. 

DLP Resin Test Print Complete

The test print is done....ish. I'm ordering some stickers for this thing but otherwise there isn't much I can do with it. There was way too much need for a Dremel in order to put it together so a number of tweaks to the design are necessary. I'll have that knocked out in a day or so and get these files uploaded. 

ASP FDM Test Printing Continues…

We are on day 3 of FDM printing the ASP. The main body and base will be another day or 2. So far so good. I won’t know what needs to be tweaked until I try to put the whole thing together. Good thing that I’m super patient.

ASP Resin Test Print

I just wanted to share a very quick video of my resin test print. This is just the top half of the ASP. I have started painting and should have a final piece in a few days. There are numerous tweaks to do. I am not in love with how the figure sits in the cockpit. It is WAY better than the fit of the original 3 3/4 inch figures but still needs improvement. 

Test Printing continues.....

The resin print is about 90% complete. I had 2 pieces fail overnight and I am attempting to print them again now. I have also started the FDM test print. There are definitely some tolerances to tweak but so far everything is turning out nicely. 

Render Time

I'm not exactly the render master but I do have fun playing with it. The last few parts are printing now and I should be able to assemble what I have tomorrow. Then I'll make some tweaks. The file should be ready for mass consumption early next week.

Test Print Still In Progress

I came in this morning expecting this to be done (or failed). I had not done the math on when this 17 hour print would be finished. Its brutal waiting days to find out if I need to tweak things. I know it will go together but I want the files I make available to have tolerances that are as forgiving as possible.

ASP printing has started

This thing turned out to be a monster. I never realized how much insane detail there is on the ASP until now. Maybe because the plastic was so dark. 

Reverse engineering the ASP has been like taking a master class in toy design. Just wow. There is so much going on that it has started bogging down Fusion 360. Kinda crazy. 

Anyhoo, printing has begun. Its going to take at least 4 days to get all the parts done. If it goes together easily and without issue I'll have the fil...

Just a little tease

I did not get as far along on the ASP today as I had planned, but I am still hopeful that I will get the first test print going before I leave the shop tomorrow. 

Quick update

Hey folks, as many of you may have seen/heard I am now working on the Operation: Recall Kickstarter created by Carson Mataxis of 3DJOES.com. The initial round of 3D design I have done for it kept me very busy the last few weeks while we dialed in the bucks that Carson is printing for Bill Merklein to sculpt on. Its a fun experiment to see if we can create the figures that the original design team always wanted to make while also keeping the look and feel of the original toy line.

RAM Sidecar files here!

I didn't realize that I needed this in my life until I made it. This was a fun side project/mod. The gun mount for the RAM Gatling gun is tight so watch out. Better tight that loose in this case. 

RAM Sidecar

Hey everyone! A follower on IG asked if I could change up the Silver Mirage sidecar to work with the RAM. This was a fun and relatively quick  mod. I'm making a few tweaks based on the test print and then I'll post the file here for the STL Club.

The WWE Wrekkin' Rampage Rigs are on "clearance" at Walmart. Down to $39 from $49. They may be on their way out. It is a fun toy to customize.

FDM Silver Mirage

My spouse was kind enough to print me this Silver Mirage in FDM. This is pretty raw, the supports were removed but thats about it.

Attached are the .stl files for the Classified (1:12) scale Silver Mirage. There are several versions of the wheels and tires depending on how you want to print them. If you are printing in FDM I recommend a high infill percentage and wall thickness for the body.

The armored back pack is NOT included in this folder. I'll post it next week some time. I am making 3 versions (small, medium, large) each has a different peg position.

ASP begins tomorrow

Tomorrow morning I'm going to get started on the ASP. I'll be streaming the build via YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook.

Final Test Print

What I am hoping is the final test print of the Silver Mirage is going on the printer in just a few minutes. I've included some split tires to make it easier for everyone to print if that is your preference. Fingers crossed.

ZBrush

I've been teaching myself ZBrush for a while now and I am ready to start producing items with it. ZBrush is the next step for me in becoming a more marketable professional toy designer. I will still rely on Fusion 360 for hard surface modeling as the factories I have worked with almost demand it, but for organic sculpting ZBrush is the way to go.

Assault System Pod

The next Mark2Design Patreon Project is the A.S.P.! I'll be starting this one on Sunday (JAN 22, 2023) and will stream the Fusion 360 design process on my Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch as I did with the Silver Mirage. 

The ASP is my next choice as it is the only medium-sized Python Patrol vehicle that is canon. Super excited to paint this thing and a couple of variants.

Updates!

I'm working on an FDM print of the Silver Mirage. Just to give you an idea of how that would look. Trying out some tree supports. The printer needs some tweaking. 

I made some adjustments to the design based on the resin print that I finished up last week and will do a second resin print tomorrow. Assuming that turns out with no issues I will post the files here on Saturday or Sunday (depending on how long the prints take).

The files include a custom "Haulin Ass" grill, extended cab, and fifth wheel. ENJOY!

I’m very happy with the Silver Mirage test print. I have a few minor tweaks to make and I’ll have the files ready to go for you.

Back to Work

I had a great trip to Florida for CollectorFest. It was a smaller show but I had a great time and met some great people. I had a chance to catch up with some old friends and see my folks. 

Yesterday was a bit of catching up on ADMIN and today I am back to work on the Silver Mirage, Thunder Machine and a third side project that I will reveal this weekend.

Thunder Machine LED Lights

This is the circuit board for the LED lights on the Thunder Machine. Not overly complicated but will keep the parts compact and accessible.

I’m in Florida for Collectorfest and visiting my parents. My Dad is making these for me. It was cool to see his setup. He is using equipment built by my grandfather over 60 years ago to expose the emulsion on the boards.

I’m already trying to come up with another project for him.

Silver Mirage Sidecar

So far the side car looks good. I'll clean this thing off with some denatured alcohol give it a good cure and see how a Classified figure fits. 

This Sunday

Hey everyone. I'll have a vendor table at the South Florida Collectorfest this Sunday if you want to stop by and say hello. I went to art school in Ft Lauderdale and enlisted in the Navy shortly after. My folks still live down there and this show is a great excuse to go see them and some old friends.

I put a couple hours in this morning. I really want to have the test prints started before I leave for FL on Friday. I think it may be good to go on Tuesday. We shall see.

Progress was made....

Thanks to the folks that stopped by to say hello. The Silver Mirage's side car is progressing nicely. I'm pretty sure that I am past the halfway point on this one.

Silver Mirage

Hey everyone. I have another 6 or 7 days of test printing parts for the Thunder Machine so I'm going to get started on the Silver Mirage! This Saturday (December 24th/Christmas Eve) I'm going to live stream the beginning of the 3D design process in Fusion 360. It will be viewable to everyone on Facebook/Twitch/YouTube.
