A while back I asked which topic you'd like me to cover next on Sexplanations and so many of you responded 'sex and disabilities.' It really motivated me to put together the thoughts I have and commit to an episode that I've wanted to do since day one.

Today

I thought you might like knowing what my day consisted of so here's a rough outline:

8:15 Alarm went off on my phone. I was sleeping on the couch because the night before I'd painted my room "lime kiss" and I was avoiding the fumes.  I hit snooze twice and finally woke up to my daughters arguing with each other about being late to school. 

Somewhere before 9:30 I ate Honeynut Cheerios, forced myself to shower and scrub off paint on my hands and in my hair, went over script note...

Sexual racism

I've been asked multiple times now whether or not having racial preferences for dating, sex etc. is a form of discrimination. The answer is yes but having any preference is a form of discrimination and psychology (like me) would argue that some discrimination is good. Discriminating between children and adults for example. The author of the article was a self-identified late bloomer himself and was very surprised that my answers to his questions were so shame-free. I realize that this is because there is a social stigma attached to later ages of sexual onset but that doesn't mean it's rational.

Oh my goodness, thank you so much, I'm in awe! The channel is doing so well and it feels really energizing. I just got back from speaking at University of Idaho in Moscow. Today I bought groceries. Why is this happening!?

It is mind-boggling to me that people who have been abused are more likely to be abused again. I hate it and feel distraught everytime I think about it. So I made a video out of my own curiosity to understand why. Hopefully it is helpful information to you as well and we can all use this knowledge to get different results.

I'd really love your feedback

This was a hard episode for me to do. It's not a socially acceptable lesson I'm promoting but I really believe in it.

So to really sit with the feelings I was having, and understand them, I asked my teen girls to let me read the script to them and talk about it with me. Was I off? Was I suggesting a relationship that /they/ didn't want? Were they okay with me talking about their sex lives publically?

And you know what happened? My eldest, 16, said, "you can publish it, IF you buy me some...

WOW!

One of you asked what our biggest accomplishments were for 2016. It didn't make it into the final cut of the video but I have an answer for you.

1.  Traveling together as a production team successfully. Matt and I have very different personalities but we managed to tour LA and coordinate with over a dozen creators smoothly. We dined on rooftops and splashed around in the waves too.
