Just some sketches of Rikku.

Pulse v1, Chapter 2 "Filled with Power" (2000)

The second chapter of the original Pulse.  There's a lot of differences here.

In here Annie's bust is continuously growing, and she doesn't reach her full size at once.  The con of that is that unless you plan to make someone really big, or grow really slowly, it's not always clear when to stop.  Annie's also way more into being big than in the current version too.

Here's also Nigel, but as a villain.  No Mira or Arim (yet) either.

The end of chapter 36 "Iron Maiden".

I thought the ending needed a wrap up to make this seem like a more well-earned win for Annie.  Her actual win wasn't just that she took advantage of a assist, it's that she actually make solution herself even if doesn't know it.

Thomas, knowing a version of the future, for some reason stepped in with a solution to a not-yet-known eventual problem.  He must have had a good reason considering the ramifications from the last time he tri...

Pulse 472 WIP 2

Still a lot of Thomas left, and a lot of little things before color.  It's strange to have two panels where you are looking at the back of people, but I thought that was a better ending transition.

Materia Enhanced V, page 5 WIP 3

In my original plan, you wouldn't have seen Yuffie's 15 minute trips out.  You would have just seen Rikku's trips and then everything else would be left to your imagination.  But I thought that was probably unfair.

I wanted to make it clear that unlike Rikku, Yuffie had no guilt in using the materia on unsuspecting people.  I thought that made Rikku's parts of the story coming up more funny.  She's in a more and more unreasonable situation.

Pulse 472 WIP 1

Last page of the chapter.  I needed to wrap this up, and felt like Annie would wish she had solved it completely by herself-- and that Thomas's comment is meant to suggest she did.  Because he's seen a version of the future he as the Silver Dragon was trying to solve this problem for her for some reason.  Knowing he already screwed up the future once by altering things, he either doesn't see a way this could change things, or it's solving something worse?

Eve Sketches

Two Eve sketches.

For the one on the left, I was trying to drawn Eve in a more modern anime way.  While I wasn't trying to specifically imitate anyone exactly, and the normal Eve isn't a normal anime likeness.  I thought I'd give it a blind shot.  I made her jaw more of an oval, a little line for a nose, and not blacken the upper lip (which I've always wondered if people like or don't like), smooth out elements, make her body thinner and more streamlined.

Pulse v1, Chapter 1 "Side-Effects" (1999-2000)

I figure I should get to this eventually.  The original Pulse, made off and on between the year 1999 and 2009, when I then decided to reboot it into the modern Pulse comic (after first considering doing the comic "Vast Cosmos").

This is the first chapter.  At the time, I didn't post pages weekly, I posted an entire chapter at once every few months.  There is a colored version of these pages, but I didn't color them, so I thought it was a mistake to post them on a Patreon ...

Finally Annie shows off her upgraded suit.  We first saw Tabitha's upgraded suit when Zoe shapeshifted into her back on page 120, and Tabitha completely upgraded her suit back on page 328.  So it's taken Annie an extra 143 pages.

I've tried to be really careful not to ever show Annie in her upgraded suit so this could be a much of a surprise as possible.  I also attached a sketch from 2013 showing the original design for the upgraded suit.  I actually started with An...

This is late, so these WIPs are going out to everyone.  There's just a little left to draw and ink, but I've had several really busy days, and probably won't be able to work on this again until Saturday night or later.

It needs cleaned up (to zoom in and fix little spots of white in the inks and shadows layers), fix the gutter around her head in the last panel, colors, and lettering.  I don't have dialog yet here, but she's mostly reacting.

Not sure which left hand position in the last panel.  Going to try to make panel six as dark as possible so it isn't as obvious the suit upgraded-- or at least make it really dramatic.

In my original plan, there was going to be a page with them waiting, and they'd start kissing and then look annoyed when it rebuilt the suit faster than they expected.  I had part of that with the one panel and them removed it thinking I needed more of a continuous process considering it was already so many panels with a rapid progression.

Pulse 470 WIP 2

Annie and Thomas wait for the suit to be reassembled.  Not sure about the third panel with Annie and Thomas kissing.  I'm worried once they started they wouldn't quickly stop, and both wouldn't notice the suit being done, and also wouldn't be eating in the next panel.

I also wonder if I made enough room in the last few panels so the dialog can describe what's happening.

Xom Bunnygirl

This sketch has been sitting around needing to be finished for a while.  I didn't draw her nearly busty enough in the sketch.

She's from some the future, so I thought a bunnygirl outfit might be different at that point, with different colors and a little different style.

I changed around the dialog a bit, I think it doesn't quite fit as well as before, but it's alright.  I was worried in the original version it wasn't as clear that they would be doing more trips after the first one with Rikku.

I also wanted the last panel to be a little funnier, but less constructive.

Pulse 469-471 WIP

Okay, what happens is that Annie and Thomas talk about the part The Silver Dragon added to the suit, and that there isn't much of a risk to add it again considering the suit doesn't work.

When it's added, the suit reverts back to a ring.  When Annie puts it on and turns her suit back on, it starts upgrading and turns into the upgraded suit.

I kind of liked the look of the sketch Velma's a little more, but they looked less like the character.

Pulse 468 + PSDs + WIPs

Not that much difference between the version with and without dialog this week.  I thought this worked fine as a silent page, and when with that.

I needed a page with them transporting the suit to be disassembled and Annie getting some clothes.  The page was split into three sections- one section showing them getting to Annie's room and Thomas continuing on, one section with Annie getting undressed and redressed, and then them meeting up and taking apart the suit.
