Developer Log #3

On this week's developer log, I’m going to talk about Emily. Those who have played Dreams of Reality will know her as the daughter of yourself, as the main character, and your wife Louise.
 

Fair warning, there will be mild to extreme spoilers for chapter one ahead. If you have not yet completed chapter one, I suggest you do so before continuing to read this post.

Development update

Well, What a couple of weeks it's been. Chapter one released both to patrons and the public. The response has been great. Many have really enjoyed the story and expressed sadness as to its end.

There's been some great speculation over the different routes and how they may play out. Some have been way off the mark, whilst others have hit home to some of the ideas I had intended.

So on this weeks Developer log I’m going to touch on the subject of netorare or NTR as it is more commonly known.
 

Such a hot topic, a subject that completely polarises those who play adult VN games. The mere hint of it in a game is enough to have the banner rise and a game thread devolve into an argument over what NTR is or is not.

Dreams of Reality - Chapter One

It's been a long time in the making, but the full chapter one release is now available. some areas of the game from the previous Demo have been improved and adjusted (the change log is below). I recommend a clean playthrough, although saves will work but you will lose the ability to play back the initial scene.

Developer update

Dreams of Reality Demo was released to the public on the 30/05/2020. Most responses seemed positive and over all I'm pleased with how it went.

Chapter one is effectively complete, There's been a few small changes over the last week, however for the next two week I will be extensively play testing to ensure it's up to scratch.

Work on chapter 2 has started, both in code and in writing.

Developer Diary - Week 6

It feels like I've not done much this week. My computer has spent most of its time rendering an animation that's still not yet finished.

currently 221 out of 260.

Why is it taking so long? Well rather than render 200-400 iterations and then giving it a plastic low detail denoiser after effect. I'm doing 6000 iterations.

In itself this isn't such a big deal, however Its quite a detailed scene so each scene render is approaching 2 hours. I'm sure you can work out the timesc...

Devolper Diary - Week 5

Five weeks! Spent most of last week rendering out images, some additional renders had to be redone - but that's the nature of working on this project.

I had hoped to get some more scenes out ready for render, however I decided to have an introduction animation and, me being me; it's a bit more involved!

I think this will be the longest yet, as such its going to take some time to render out. Most of next week will be spent doing that.
