Got a question about mids. So, here are my quick thoughts and a live demonstration of a song I still need to work on :). for the low end and top end check these links:

Compression 101

Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Do I want more of an attacky sound? (slow attack fast release)

2. Do I want less of an attacky sound and more tail? (fast attack, fast release)

3. Do I want to control volume (LA 2A)

4. Is it all getting a bit much? (Limiter)

What makes a good kick?

Short list for 4 to the floor:

1.  You need low end (lower than 60hz) and tune it

2. Make sure it's not too saturated to begin with (replace it)

3. Keep your low end mono 

4. Play with your ADSR setting to make the kick short and tight 

5. Cut boxiness out

6. Only saturate the top end

7. Just use a good kick to begin with :D

After these two come out do you have any relatively known artist that seem to boggle your minds? If so, drop it in the comments.
