Plans for April 28-May 3

I got another chapter done today! I wasn't sure if it would happen because I was super busy with my audiobook giveaway -- if you haven't commented on the post yet to sign up yet, you have until Sunday! -- and because I went to lunch with my wife for my birthday, but I managed to sneak it in.

It's getting relatively near the end. The first book was 145k words and I'm aiming for something similar with book 2, and it's already at 107k. There's still a few important events that need to h...

Unexpected Healer Book 2 -- Chapter 34

Chapter 34

There was a line to get into the Crestline Gorge, which was situated inside a pass in the mountain range that surrounded the Ragewater Sea.  It actually led into the mountains and was sealed off on the other end, with the entrance having a massive distortion that extended from one side of the gorge to the other, which he recognized from other dungeons โ€“ though this was, by far, the largest heโ€™d ever seen.

He stopped Gregory and the party a...

If there were such a thing as a penthouse suite in the world of Tarth, the Gold-Ranked room he was led to would be it.  It had all of the amenities of the Silver-Ranked room back in Forgestone, only more.  Bigger bed, bigger bathroom, fancier-looking everything โ€“ it had it all.  He knew that it was more expensive because of the fact that none of it was constructed of local stone or driftwood, meaning that it had to be shipped in especial...

โ€œYou have done well for yourself, this one observes.  To the detriment of many of your fellow Contenders in Forgestone, of course.โ€

Youโ€ฆ know about that? he thought, remembering his first encounter with the Support Class Representative back in Ashcleft that made it so he didnโ€™t have to verbally speak.  That was a good thing, he supposed, as having a one-sided conversation that anyone could listen to was probably a go...

Chapter 31

It wasnโ€™t long before Thaden was forced to make a wide turn to avoid the murdering Contenders walking along the pathway that led toward the city of Rageharbor.  He stayed as far away from them as he could, which only amounted to about 500 feet as he skirted edge of the mountain range surrounding the Ragewater Sea, and he was running as fast as he could while still maintaining his balance.  Even so, one of the Scout Classes from the group spotted him a...

The sight that Thaden caught as he looked over the edge of the rock pile wasnโ€™t a good one.  It seemed as though he was a few seconds too late to help, as the commotion was wrapping up even as he peeked down at the scene unfolding in front of him.

A total of 15 Contenders of different races, genders, and Classes, who all ranged from Level 18 to Level 20, had apparently surrounded three female Contenders a short time ago and killed them.  How?&nb...

Thaden didnโ€™t get a chance to check his notifications after traveling through the rest of the forest and finding a place to sleep for the night up in a tree, but he certainly checked them in the morning once he wasnโ€™t tired enough to fall asleep while reading.  He skipped over the โ€œmonster slainโ€ messages as a matter of course and only concentrated on any Competency increases and possible Achievements.

Expecting to see something similar to the Mausoleum of Despair, which was a massive arena where he was confronted by multiple Mini Bosses and capped off by the extremely powerful Monarch of the Dead Boss, Thaden was in for a completely different experience when he started walking through the tunnel to the Boss cave.  The first thing that happened was that there was an abrupt turn to the tunnel that, once he started walking down it, he realized cut off any li...

Walking down the dirt tunnel entranceway, Thaden was expecting some more magical torches along the walls similar to the Vogmite Tunnels Dungeon, but that didnโ€™t seem to be the case in The Den.  Instead, light seemed to shine in from random holes in the ceiling, creating spotlights of illumination that seemed to makes the shadows in between darker somehow.  Thankfully, his continuous use of his glowing protective Fields were enough to ...

Plans for April 21-26

I got a few more chapters done this week and even got one done today! I'm leaving to set up for the Readers Take Denver convention in just a little bit and won't be able to write tomorrow.

Next week, I'm planning on being able to write most of the week, though on Friday it's my Birthday! Next week, I'm also planning on having the audiobook for the box set of Dimensional Dungeon Cores series publish. In addition, for my Birthday, I'm going to have a special giveaway :)

While he didnโ€™t have a physical map on him, Thadenโ€™s Mentality had allowed him to essentially memorize the maps he had been allowed to study at the Adventurer Coalition in Forgestone.  Using his approximate starting location around Northbend, he knew that he needed to head far to the southeast toward the city of Rageharbor, which was situated along the coast of a turbulent sea.

Of course, the maps he memorized werenโ€™t filled with all the little d...

Unfortunately for Thaden, there were no new spells waiting for him when he reached Level 54 nor at Level 57.  He still received a spell selection for each of those Levels, as well as another +36 in Mentality and 16 free stat points; he ended up finally taking Major Lifelink and Major Wardlink because he had the spare spell selections, but he didnโ€™t know if heโ€™d ever use them.  After those were chosen he only had View Post

Securing himself in the crook of the tree he managed to lift himself into, despite the enveloping darkness of the nighttime forest, Thaden sat back and sighed deeply.  Getting out of Northbend at night was somehow harder than getting in during the daytime, as more and more people โ€“ both Contenders and Charee โ€“ arrived and clogged the streets of the town regardless of the late hour.  It took him twice as long to flow against the current of the crowd ...

Leaving Forgestone earlier, the Guards said absolutely nothing to Thaden as he walked out of the gates after an hour of painstakingly climbing over the scattered rubble that used to comprise the buildings in the grand city.  Instead, theyโ€™d simply stared at him from atop the walls as he passed through the gate below, their silent judgement almost too much for him to bear.  The guilt that heโ€™d been feeling since he survived being eaten by the Magma W...

Nothing.  Thank goodness.

The Archer Trainee couldnโ€™t help but feel a wave of relief pass through him as the panic heโ€™d felt since running for his...

Plans for April 14-20

I got more 9 more chapters done this week! I was shooting for 10, but fell slightly short. I'm hoping to have another 6 or so done next week, but we'll see because I have a bit going on.

First, I approved the audiobook for Unexpected Healer Book 1 yesterday, so it should publish just about any time; this means I'll be promoting it next week, which always takes a bit of my time away from writing, but it'll be good to finally have the audio out for this one.

Secondly, on Sunday ...

As much as Thaden wanted to get up from where he had just sat down to confront the Vice-Leader of the Forgestone Adventurer Coalition, his entire body โ€“ not to mention his mind and emotional state โ€“ was exhausted, and not even his righteous anger could get him to his feet.  So he had to settle for glaring and practically growling at the stone-faced Charee who simply stared at him.  When it didnโ€™t appear as though she was going to answer his questi...

To say there wasnโ€™t anyone left within the city was technically untrue, as at the far reaches of his vision he could see City Guards up on the walls staring inside the city, standing as still as statues and lit up by the myriad of magical lights in the pre-dawn light.  And if he was also being truthful, saying that nothing was alive was also false, because the Magma Worms were certainly still living, crushing the last of the spectacular buildings that used...

Thaden was dragged a few feet down the alleyway and pushed up against the wall of the Outstanding Accessories shop.  His surprise was so great that he didnโ€™t activate his protective Fields until after his back was against the cold stone of the building, though it did nothing to remove the hands that were still forcefully holding onto his arms.  It only took him a second to realize it was because he wasnโ€™t being ...
