The morning was gray, and a wind blew from the north carrying with it a hint of rain. Despite the strange visitor the day before, the preparations for the move were completed, and everything set into motion. Bags were packed, and the last of the supplies crated and loaded. The wagons that carried the tents and other supplies were brought in and added to the growing line. Thayle added two additional wagons to the line. These were requisitioned from the temple of Ulustrah and woul...

I want to make some changed to the donation tiers to reflect heather. Right now they all named after dragon knight themes. I will think of something more neutral and add some basic perks.

I wanted to make the e-book format a reward for the $3 and higher donation tier. However, in testing this is proving to be problematic. Any format I use doesn't seem to work in all e-book readers. The office program I use has limited tools for making e-books and no way to create a cover.
This has forced me to pass the file through several editors in order to achieve a final result. Unless I can find a simpler way to do this I am going to give up on e-book formats.

Heather and Frank followed the pair into a town that looked like it had been bombed. There were two dozen buildings all in a medieval-style lined up along winding streets. There were equally as many burned husks of buildings along the outer edge.
The streets were white stones but were littered with broken timbers and plaster from the buildings. Every structure was damaged in some way, from broken windows and doors to outright holes blasted in the walls....

“I think it looks good,” Frank said as he scratched his head.
“I'm a little disappointed,” Heather replied as she looked at the squat little tower.
“You're a first-level builder. It will get bigger as you spend points on it.”
Heather nodded as she looked up at the unimpressive building. It was perfectly round and made of rough gray stone cut into blocks. It went up what looked like three levels that had no discernible features. Each lev...

“Heather?”
She bolted upright with a start from where she slept in the corner. The room was the usually gloomy darkness just bright enough to see in. Frank stood in the center of the room, looking down at her with his head cocked to the side.
“Frank!” she cried as she got up. “You're alive!”
“I'm undead,” he said.
“I know that!” she snapped and took a deep breath. “I was just worried.”
He looked up a...

“There may be more in the lower tunnels,” a grating voice said. He wore black armor of metal plates with spikes on his shoulders. His eyes glowed red in black sockets on the skull-shaped helm he wore. He stood like a giant with his back to her as he pointed to the mausoleum by the gate.
Heather watched as three others headed for the structure and entered the doorway. She knew they would follow the tunnels and eventually come up behind her. Wh...

Gersius, Lilly, and Thayle went back to the estate to prepare. The revelation that the Father Abbot was using a dragon and that he was aware of them needed to be addressed. Lengwin was informed, and a meeting arranged for the next morning.
That night after his wives were tucked in bed, Gersius went alone to the fields behind the estate. Once alone, he knelt in prayer to Balisha and opened his heart to her. He felt the power of her connection and the flow of t...

So things have shifted around a little. Now that Heather is a thing I thought I would be as transparent as I can and show people my important points of support, as well as some reward ideas I have.
$50 a month (This is the point where all my “Expenses” to make my stories are paid for).
- Grammarly: $29.95
- Royalroad: $4.99

I want to test putting up a chapter in the E-reader format for those of you who have such devices. Since Heather's chapters are so small it only makes sense to practice with hers. So here is a downloadable file to try.

“No.” click. “No.” click “No.” click “NO!” Heather leaned back on the stairs of the crypt and put an arm over her eyes.
“Why do all the women's clothing leave so much exposed?” she cried to no one in particular. She looked down and clicked the next image and saw an outfit that was little more than a belt with a silk loincloth and a scarf of purple that just happened to drape over her chest.
“What if the wind blows!” she shouted ...

Heather yawned as she stepped out of the crypt into the morning light. The sun hung low on a blue sky in its dawn position. She peeked around the doors to look for skeletons, but all she saw was the silent stones of the graveyard.
Quickly she stepped across the yard to the gate and outside into the tall grass.
“So the trail needs to come here,” she said with a smile. She pulled out her panel and began poking through options. “I will take this, a...

So now that I am writing two stories I am going to begin putting chapters of Heather the Necromancer up here. This means I need to clarify to which book a chapter belongs. So from now on I will start chapters with DKP or HTN to identify which series it belongs to. So Heater the Necromancer chapter 10 will be listed as
HTN - 1-10 Beauty is only a pixel deep.
When I have a proper website set up I may begin using protected pages so patreons can read them there. This will all...

Gersius watched as Lilly led her first morning prayer session with the new acolytes of Balisha. She introduced them to Balisha's song by singing in her beautiful clear voice. Gersius never tired of hearing her sing and often wished she knew more songs. Thayle remarked about it as well, promising to one day teach Lilly how to use that silver voice for more than prayers.
After prayers were done, he spent an hour instructing the acolytes as he did Culver. He too...

Chapter 21 is on track for a Friday release. I am trying to organize myself so that I release a chapter on Tuesday and Friday. I want to treat this as a professional job even if it isn't, and to do that I need to release on a schedule.
In other news I took the website down. It was getting insignificant amounts of traffic and wasn't worth the cost. I am looking to relaunch on wordpress. There seems to be some built in tools on wordpress that helps people find authors and blogge...

Gersius stood on a hill outside the estate and took a deep breath. The news at the temple of Ulustrah caused an immediate change. Thayle wasted no time in ordering every man and woman present to be at the estate in the morning. Many grumbled and complained, but Thayle left them no choice. They would be there, or they would hide somewhere and live with the shame.
The walk back to the estate was dominated by Thayle and Mingfe making plans. Gersius was impressed with ...

When I started this journey to write my story I had plans. I was going to write the most amazing story and an agent was going to snap it up and lead me on a wild ride of book signings and panel discussions at conventions.
Needless to say that didn't happen. A hundred query letters later and I was still agent less.
That was when I explored other options and found Royalroad. From here a whole new world of possibilities opened to me as well as a whole new genre of fiction. Th...

This is what having lots of time on my hands allows. I suppose some day I may reach enough on Patreon where I can make 10,000 word chapters common again.
I would love to release two chapters of this size a week. I kinda hate making the smaller chapters, I never feel like I have enough space to say all I want to say.

The morning sky was gray when they arrived at the temple of Astikar. They were grateful to see four men standing guard at the temple doors. Lengwin met them in the yard and joined them on Lilly’s back as they headed out to the distant towns.
Lengwin was in a dour, melancholy mood, the wounds of the day before still fresh on his heart. They spoke little as they flew in search of the towns. The attack at the temple of Astikar set them back a day and proved the Fath...

Chapter 19 is written and through my rough first edit. This is taking longer because I decided to go ahead and make it a big chapter. It's pushing 9.5k words right now. Since my schedule was so busy I cut chapters down to 3-5k words. Now that I have more time I am going to return to the larger chapters, at least until I find another job.
If I had my way, I would do two 10k chapters a week. I think that is an excellent rate for a web serial, and a rate I am more than capable of maintai...

Sorry chapter 18 took longer than I expected. I was fighting with a belief that i think is incorrect.
There is this part of me that says something big and traumatic must happen in every chapter or the reader will get bored. But I suspect most of you like the characters because they have these moments. Moments of doubts, fears, and strong emotion that make them human.
If the story is nothing but action and high tension I feel like you can get exhausted from reading it. ...

The morning sky was lit by the faintest rays of the suns light as Thayle wept. The day before saw the first bloodshed on the path they walked. In a moment that came and went in the blink of an eye, she took a mans life. There was no time to mourn the pain she felt inside as Gersius charged off to find Lengwin. Even after Lengwin was safe, there was no time to address her feelings. Men were dead around her feet, and there was work to do. She put away her pain to do what needed to...

All Thayle wanted was to get to Lilly and assure her the danger was over. She could feel the poor dragon’s frustration over the binding link. However, the men and women from the local temple of Ulustrah were right behind here. Thayle knew why they were following her, and she knew what they were going to say. As she descended the stairs to the second level, the silence was broken.
“How did you do that?” Rachel asked in a stern voice. “How did you heal two pe...

That morning saw more people at the gates and trouble at Lilly’s private enclosure outback. Fortunately the towns they visited the day before already sent help from the temples. There were now a dozen additional priests of Astikar and five priests of Ulustrah on hand. They drove the crowd off from the back garden, where they were hoping to reach Lilly.
When they were gathered out front, Lilly addressed them. She told them about the decision to take eleven more ac...

It was well into the late hours of the night as Lilly sat on the rug in the middle of the room. All around her was stillness and silence except for the faint breathing of her lovers. After their prayers, they spent the night making love and then curled into each other to sleep. Lilly laid with them for an hour but got back up to pray again. She felt a deep need to reach out to Balisha as if the Goddess herself was calling her.
Now she sat with her legs folded...

Chapter 15 is written, I just want to take one more day to work over it and iron out some issues. I have discovered I overuse worlds like "just, had, really, like, certainly, and however." Lilly, carried Gersius, Thayle, and High Priest Lengwin through the skies. They spent the day traveling to many of the small towns and villages that surrounded the city of Avashire. Most of them received word of the dragon knights and their dragon, and people were watching the skies. They made sure to land away from people so they could dismount and approach the towns cautiously.
Often they were met by the local priests and usually with much fear and trembling. How...
