Dynamic Floors Set One Released!

We've been debating doing this one for a while.  The problem these are meant to address, is that many modules and dungeons need some fairly special floors for puzzles, clues, or to be narrative set pieces.  What we've designed here isn't a set of tiles, but a system that lets you replace the tops of the floors so you can easily create really specialized floors for one time uses.  For the picture above, we used the new 2017-09-21 18:26:17 +0000 UTC View Post

OpenLOCK 6.0 support for Cut-Stone

Now that we are done with the basic set of Ruined/Rough Stone tiles, we've gone to the voting booth to find what to do next.  Rather then start a big project, we figured we would bang out anything that was in the top 5 that would only take one or two releases to do.  We selected "Add OpenLOCK Columns And Side Locking Walls", but decided to make a bunch of other new interesting changes in the release.

This release includes:

  • Sidelocking A and BA walls in b...

Water, water everywhere…REFLEX SAVE!

This water shrine is full of small things to delight even the most detail-oriented gamer.  Check out the Elder Futhark rings along the archway that say “Water.” The water symbols inset into the floor and side walls are excellent for rituals or, if you’re feeling more devious, traps.

The water shrine comes with water runed floors and walls, a water archway, and the water shrine: A wall fountain speckled with water iconography.  All of these are available in cut-stone ...

Ruined Windows Released!

Printer is fixed, so I finally managed to get this design out.  In this and the next release you may notice that the prints are a little janky, because I needed to get them printed, even with the printer limping to get the releases out.  Print and paint quality should be back to normal after the next release.  Since this release was delayed for a week, we'll have another release tomorrow.

So here we have the final tile in the basic Rough/Ruined stone set, 2017-08-29 14:59:38 +0000 UTC View Post

Laser Cut Paint Rack

So I designed this for my glowforge laser cutter.  I have no idea how many of you have access to a laser cutter, but I thought it would be a nice little bonus to give you all my designs for the paint rack.  Since it's not 3d printed which is the core of the project, I'm giving it to you all free.

There's a second rack you can sort of see on the left for craft paints that I'll need to create some instructions for assembly before I release it, so let me know if any of you are inte...

Fire Shrine Released!

Following on from what we all discussed a few weeks ago, here's the second of the OpenForge Encounters: The Fire Shrine!

Like the last shrine, we have some runed walls, floors, a new option for the archway, and a shrine.  This tine around though, being fire, we figured we should bling it up a bit, so this one can take walmart led votive candles to make for a flaming brazier!  The flames are pretty easy to make jsut using a hot glue gun.

Minor update

After releasing the ruined diagonals, I received a query on facebook if there were construction kit files for the cut stone diagonals.  I had made them a long time ago, but never actually uploaded them.  So I've updated the Cut Stone Diagonal thing to add ckit files.  While I was at it, I also had tudor files for the same thing, so I uploaded those as well to the 2017-08-11 17:13:27 +0000 UTC View Post

Diagonal Ruined Walls Released!

First off, thank you to everyone who voted in the poll about how the project should focus on releases moving forward, we really appreciate the input, and it's made some decisions on what to do moving forward much easier.

For future sets that get voted on, we're going to focus first on the basics (which we already do) of:

  • Floor
  • Wall
  • Corner
  • Door
  • Window
  • OpenLock Wall
  • OpenLock Side Locking Walls

With those, people can b...

Patron benefits

I'm concerned about how the voting system has turned out since I first put it into place. I wanted to ask you, the patrons, how you feel about it, and which of my approaches here you would like to see moving forward.

The biggest problem is the size of a set.  To have a complete set, we are looking at (for internal):

  • floors
  • walls
  • corners
  • doors (possibly more than one door type)
  • windows
  • diagonals
  • curved
  • corridors View Post

OpenForge Encounters: Earth Shrine

We decided to try an experiment this week.  Rather than release a full tile set, we built all the tiles needed for a room.  Our first one is the Earth Shrine.  The set includes in both cut-stone and rough stone:

  • Floors with earth symbol
  • Walls with earth symbol
  • Pillars with futhark runes that say "earth"
  • Archway inspired by the bluestone of stonehenge
  • Bluestone earth alter

Curved rough and ruined stone set released!

Curved ruined tiles. Has 4 sizes of circular curves (1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4), along with oval curves (1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 2x3, 2x4, 3x4). All curves come in low, half and full, with 2x2 also having every combination of the three. These are construction kit files, so you need to print a base, a wall and a floor.

Step through the mystic arch and see what's on the other side...

Continuing from the arcane circles, the arcane archway is another piece of scatter terrain that doubles as an OpenForge 2.0 piece.  The arcane archway was inspired by Frostgrave: Ulterior Motives which calls for a freestanding arch or doorway that players can place on the battlefield.  It's just as useful for your dungeon delving and ruin exploration in your D&D/Pathfinder game.

Ruined Doorways Released!

This week we continue rounding out the ruined stone series.  This release is wooden doors and double doors. One each of a complete door at 2x, 3x & 4x, along with eight ruined variations at each size.  If you have not yet noticed, the ruined set contains a complete rough stone set inside of it of non ruined walls.

We've runed everything - magical runes that is!

No dungeon would be complete without a floor covered in runes waiting to activate and summon a gaggle of demons. Or maybe you just need a nifty coaster. Whatever. We won’t judge.

Comes with floor tiles that can use any OpenForge 2.0 base and separate stone circles that can be placed anywhere.

These are all designed to print upright. The detail on them is too small to pick up well if printing flat. Since the z-axis is generally smaller then the nozzle on most fdm printers, when you want...

Put a lid on it with our hut roof

The world is full of famous huts: Jabba the Hutt, Pizza Hut, “atten-hut!” You know, the classics.

Now there’s OpenForge’s 3D-printed hut – perfect for lizardmen, sahuagin, goblins, tribal humans/elves, feral halflings, and any setting that calls for a swamp or tropical flair.

Ruined OpenLOCK Walls Released

Releasing the 5.0 OpenLOCK walls a few weeks ago gives a lot of options, but there are still plenty of rooms you can't build, including the above internal corner.  This is a full set of OpenLOCK walls, fitting all the rectangular options.  The ruined set is really starting to fill out!

Shattered Floor Released

OpenLOCK Ruined Sideclip Walls Released!

This is our first dalliance with the OpenLOCK 5.0 side clip and stacking walls standard.  Especially with ruins, these have a ton of possibilities.  You can now pretty much assemble just about any arbitrary ruined building fairly easily.

This set has convinced us that we need to go back and bang out a cut-stone side clip set as well.  We still have a bunch of ruined stuff to get out, so we'll see if we can slot that in somewhere between them.

As per usual, download t...

Corner Ruins

If we had a dime for every time we’ve heard, “Enjoy your walls! Some people in the multiverse don’t even HAVE walls,” well, we’d have a dime.

Do you need your room to look like a bombed-out echo of what once was? You’re in luck: This ruin tile will add a sense of dungeon decay in just the right spots.

Ruined Stone Portal Released!

We got this idea from a patron, and decided to run with it.  Especially since we are presently banging out the ruined stone set, it seems a perfect fit.

OpenForge Tools: Magnetic Clamps Released!

This week's release is a bit on the outside of normal for what we have been doing.  This isn't a tile, or terrain, it's a tool to help you more easily put the terrain we release together.  A few weeks ago we were watching a video on Terranscapes where he reviewed magnetic clamps, and we knew we had to make them.  A bunch of magnet purchases, experimenting with different 2017-05-05 01:07:30 +0000 UTC View Post

Final (For Now) Docks Construction Kit Released

This set is the final two construction sets for docks based on the initial ideas.  This set includes wooden stairs in two different styles that are perfect for docks, but work just as well for the scaffolding construction kit or really any other place you want more open stairs.  These stairs are offered in anything from 2 to 7 steps (use 3 for 25mm/1 inch and 7 for 50mm/2 inches).  We are also releasi...

Ruined Walls Released!

Based on the votes, a ruined set for both OpenForge 2.0 and OpenLOCK was the most popular set, so we are continuing on with it to get out the basics.  We've now got ruined walls!  This is the most organic set of stonework we've released to date and we think it looks great.

We decided to rethink the paint scheme that was being used for the ruined set as it looked pretty odd pulled up onto the walls.  The more saturated paint scheme works better to help this feel like it's ancient...

Bring in your dead! Bring in your dead!

If you’re like us, you’re probably wondering, “Where do I put all these dead bodies?”

Wonder no more: Masterwork Tools is killing it with this mausoleum. Originally designed for the Frostgrave scenario “The Mausoleum,” the piece is a great addition to any tabletop game that calls for a graveyard.

Devon’s proud of this one:  He has printed some beautiful pieces created by other makers, but this is his most complex design. Terrain remains his bread and butter, but he’...

Start of a new set!

Always gotta start with floors. This is the first set in the rough and ruined OpenForge 2.0 tile set! Porting the ruined tile set forward from my old stuff was the top vote getter, so we've embarked on that set, taking into account everything we have learned in the past few years.

We are going to be working on this set doing releases for OpenForge 2.0 and OpenLOCK concurrently. OpenLOCK requires a lot of extra work, so likely the classic OpenForge 2.0 set will make it out first, defining the s...

OpenLOCK Rectangular Arched Doors Released

We think there was probably a craving for some doors.  After the square door release earlier this month, one of the next highest vote counts was for the arched doors.  You voted, we deliver!

Next tile release we'll try to get back to some of the magnetic sets, we've been hitting openlock pretty hard and it's about time for the internal and external sets to get some love.

Docks construction kits 2, 3 & 4

We've released a bunch of new stuff for docks.  We are using it for our Skull and Shackles game.  Combined with pieces from the scaffolding construction kits, we built the pictured pirate lighthouse.  I expect there's probably about one more docks construction kit release forthcoming.

OpenLOCK Cut-Stone Square Door Released!

Next up from the voting booth, we've got the first set of doors for our openlock sets.  It was a tossup between the arched and the square doors so I decided to start with the square doors.  I'm still sort of determining the best way to translate what's getting voted for to what to work on, and my current approach is to toggle back and forth between something from the tiles, and something from the ide...

Masterwork Tools loves the dock

What lake or ocean setting is complete without docks? These files will let you create the perfect space for shady dock-workers and stealthy ocean monsters eager to eat your face.

Y’all apparently thought it was a good idea, too, because this construction kit was No. 1 in voting. It works with all our other tiles, and we’re planning more construction kits in the future, so stay tuned.
