Watch the gap

This release partially fulfills a Patron request, which was to make adapters that let you use the dungeon-stone stairs with wall-on-tile sets. Depending on how you’re laying out your map, a staircase next to a wall could leave a gap in the wall.  This set provides wall-on-tile stairs (and risers) with adapters that will fix the problem.

Sticking with this month’s theme, s-system needed a way to connect to the stairs and risers. This set has a full range of s-system stair and ri...

Seeking connection

For this release, I’ve updated every existing s-system set to meet current standards. The update pushes the block-floor texture throughout the sets. It includes fixes for:

  • S Walls (+low)
  • S Corners (+low)
  • S Arched Doors
  • S Arched Windows

Learning to adapt

This month’s releases aren’t sexy, but they’re necessary. I focused on making s-system compatible with other sets, and providing a facelift to the current dungeon-stone standards.  Next month I’ll get rolling on adding new tiles for s.

This set provides adapters for connecting s-system to the other two systems – wall-on-tile and separate wall.

The set has adapters for:

  • s to wall-on-tile
  • s to wall-on-tile low
  • s to separate wall

May 2023 Vote

Dungeon Stone Curved Stairs 6x is done, so this month we are moving on to the next vote getter - filling out the S-Series for dungeon stone.  Vote is now for the next set post S-Series.  I expect S-Series to be 3-4 months, depending on how many other releases I pepper in between S releases.

Current vote as it stands for the top 5 are:

  • 27 - Dungeon Stone Separate Wall Curved 2x
  • 21 - Dungeon Stone Wall on Tile Curved 1x-4x
  • 19 - Next Scatter/Encount...

Stick to it!

This project was inspired by, and contributed to by one of the patrons.  Nirzhuk suggested this idea, and also contributed initial designs, and a number of the wall hangings.  Thank you Nirzhuk!

These walls can hold a 5x3 (or 5x2) mm magnet.  This lets you attach a number of wall hangings, buttons, shelves, symbols and so on on these walls.  There's even a frieze of venus!  Many of these have been a part of openforge before, especially from the old encounters se...

It’s hip to be square

These risers let you turn rounded staircases into squares, giving you more options in your multilevel stone design.

This is the last release for the 6x dungeon stone stairs.  I'm really excited about this set because it lets you really see how the other parts all come together to create some great terrain.  These risers help convert from curved into squares so you can create all sorts of interesting layouts.  As with the last release, I attached the prior sets for conveni...

Watch your step

Watch all the steps, because this set creates a lot of them.   These tiles will help you create a dramatic boss lair, amphitheater, stadium, gladiator arena and more.

This is the second to last of the dungeon stone 6x curved stairs.  Next set will demonstrate some of the awesome things you can do with all of them.  As per last time I also updated the 4x version of the curved radial reverse set to add in 1x wide (which is 22.5 degrees for 4x).  For convenience, ...

How to Print Your Dragon

Every home office needs a watchful dragon protector. I melded the design for this dragon (by MakerBot) and this articulated slug (by Brandon Blinkenberg) to make this articulated dragon. Files are free on 2023-04-14 17:04:42 +0000 UTC View Post

Single Piece Wall on Tile

Some people have been looking for merged prints for wall on tile. That they have a wall and a floor confuses people, as they think it's Separate Wall.

There are a lot of wall + floor size combinations for wall tiles.  For corner tiles there's an explosion of possible combinations.  Arrow Slit on the right, Portcullis on the left? Window on the right, Door on the left? Each one is useful in the right situation, but it's a geometric explosion of combinations.

It's a fair a...

April Vote

In april we should see the last release for dungeon stone 6x curved stairs, so this will decide where we go next.  I'm still going to be streaming out dungeon stone misc releases as the remaining releases there are all larger projects, so I'll keep dedicating a release per month to that until I've got them all. Vote closes next monday.

Arcane Circles (Set 2)

Sometimes a gamer just needs some circles full of magical magicalness. When that day comes, I'm your dude.

Maybe your players have run across a temple to Baphomet. Maybe they're having a unicorn BBQ. Maybe a thousand monkeys with a thousand sticks in the mud accidentally opened a portal to hell. I won't judge.

I lied. I'm judging.

These tiles come in two sizes: 2" diameter and 4" diameter.

Dungeon Stone Infinity Hallway

To infinity -- and beyond! -- in your OpenForge dungeon.

This infinity hallway can be used for magical shenanigans, or as a simple way to indicate that a hallway goes on for a long time. If infinity is more than you need, we've included files for building just the hallway.

This project has been in the works for years, literally.  I first ordered some of the stuff needed all the way back in February 2018.  Five years later, I've finally nailed down the skills I needed t...

6x Radial Curved Stairs

These stairs form a circle. They go up and down, creating obvious OSHA hazards. Round and round. Like you would expect from a circle. 360 degrees, forever.

Damnit, just download the files.

Monument Hobbies/Pro Acryl

Over the past year, I've become pretty enamored of Pro-Acryl paints.  They've become my primary paint for miniatures, and increasingly I've been using them for details or really anything other than the main base coat for my terrain/tiles.

So I reached out to them and asked if there was a way to get a discount for the OpenForge community, cause you know, never hurts to ask.  Well, they got back to me, and agreed to give me one.  If you want to give them a try, 2023-03-21 19:30:29 +0000 UTC View Post

Voting

With the USB project, we needed to focus on that, and kinda missed doing the vote.  That being said, 6x curved stairs had a commanding lead, so we started that last month.  We'll continue to produce some dungeon stone misc projects, but the remaining ones are all larger projects, so those will filter out once a month while we move on to other sets.

Voting closes on 1/8

6X CURVED ANGULAR STAIRS

This set includes a variation on the 6x curved stairs – angular stairs available in 4x (45 degrees) and 2x (22.5 degrees) (at 3 heights). I've attached all the 2x and 4x curved risers for convenience.

RISE ABOVE WITH 6X CURVED RISERS

Like Obi-Wan Kenobi, you too can have the high ground with 6x (radius) curved stairs in 4 different heights, with versions 1x (11.25 degrees), 2x (22.5 degrees) and 4x (45 degrees) around.

I updated older files to add 1x-wide risers so you can rotate the set exactly one square, giving you more precise control of your layout. I also went back and added the full 4 heights of 1x-wide (22.5 degrees) for 4x. I've attached all the 2x and 4x curved risers for convenience.

PHONE-POWERED PORTAL: MAGIC OR SCIENCE?

3D-printing is great, but 5D-printing is better. You already use your phone for driving directions, watching videos and arguing with strangers. Now use it to open a portal to another dimension.

This design is big enough to hold most phones. I tested it with my ginormous Pixel 6, and it fits with the case. You might need to use a shim if your phone is small, but the image should still display correctly – or slide in any properly sized print photo. I’ve included some of my own artwork...

Dungeon Stone Boss Door

I sculpted this as a part of a tutorial from Grant Abbit.  Most of the tutorials I do to help increase my sculpting skills don't have direct application to OpenForge, but this one did, so after completing the tutorial, I thought it would be fun to release it as well.

This print requires supports, no way around that, and the versions with skulls may be a struggle to print o...

60 degree walls

First up for this month, we have 60 degree walls.  Like the floors, these line up with the square tiles, because they are exactly 2, 3, 4 inches per side.  They can be used for creating y intersection, and hex (or portions of a hex) shaped room.  This gives the first and most critical tile for this room shape.  When 60 degree wall on tile comes up in the vote, we can add in doors, windows, etc.

Last post of the year

Last release is cleaning up a few more things as we get ready to make the 2022 OpenForge zip files and sd cards.

This last release has a number of updates.

  • First, the braziers that originally came from some of the encounters got updated to add block texture floors.  Next year I'll make sure to get all of the encounters updated as well.
  • Next we have block texture pools.  All the files that were released for eroded texture are here.
  • I also added a f...

Dungeon Stone Torch Pillars

Pillars get the torch treatment!  The photos are only showing one of the 5 versions of torches on the pillars.  Each pillar has the option of 1, 2 (L), 2 (either side), T and all four sides.

There are SO many variations I could make for this, so I decided to go with the pillars that are the same height as most tiles.  You should be able to fit a battery in the 2x2 based ones (that's actually part of why I added 2x2 pillars this go around), but the 1x1's can be solved by r...

Dungeon Stone Full Pillars (Update)

First release for the month, we've got reworked full pillars for dungeon stone.  There are four major updates to the files in this release.

  • Like most dungeon stone updates, the pillars now have the new block floor texture as an option.
  • the simpler pillars I think fit the style of the old floors.  For the block floor texture though I felt the pillars were too plain.  I added capitals and bases to the pillars on block texture making them a little more fancy View Post

December Vote

We're done with cut stone basics, and are backfilled on Dungeon Stone.  Next set is Dungeon Stone Misc, which is a bunch of fun tiles, and should probably last for the next 2-3 months, so now it's time to start voting for the next set.  I'll keep it open to next monday.

Dungeon Stone Portcullis Corners

Turns out that I missed a few things when doing the first complete set with dungeon stone.  One of them was portcullis corners.  Here we have it done both in block and eroded floor textures.

I'm trying to make sure there are no missing components, and this month is a bit of cleanup on that front.  The other two releases finish out some misses on the dungeon stone corners.  Next month we'll be ready to dive into the next set we will complete.
