Dungeon Stone Drain

The drain in the wall is a classic staple of dungeons, especially some of the old school computer RPGs like Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder.  We've done both walls and corners in this release, and here we are showing off both the eroded and new block floor textures with the files.  Reminder that these corner pieces can be mixed with any other segment previously released to make a tile with a drain and a window, drain and a door, drain and whatever.

New Dungeon Stone Floor Texture

We started using this texture last year for Dungeon Stone Stairs, and many people felt they were a better texture than our original dungeon stone floor texture, so now we have a full release.  The original texture is going to be known as eroded dungeon stone floors and these are block dungeon stone floors.  With this release, we not only have the new floors, but have also sized them for walls and corners, so they are generally usable.  We have a bunch of other dungeon stone rel...

Landscapes: The Iced Over Lake

This expands the landscapes to make it so the shore of the icy water can be really any shape.  This set has a ton of corner options, letting you really create nearly any shore line you want if used with the tiles from last month's release.  There are 11 corners in all, both convex and concave.

Also, included a photo of the paint job I have started on the broader set.  Doesn't show the shore at ...

New Torch Wall

It's been a long time since the first release of a torch wall.  First time I released one was in 2015, so an update was badly needed.  The new update has a ton more utility, and is substantially easier to assemble.

  • Every wall now offers torches, 1x - 4x, and this approach is much easier to migrate to curved/diagonal/etc.
  • Every wall has 3 connector options, low, mid and high, so you can select how high in the wall you want the connectors.
  • The torch wall ...

Rough Stone Dungeon Sticks

It's been a bit since we had a Dungeon Sticks release.  Rough stone was the top of the list this month, so it's finally getting the dungeon stone treatment.  Set one includes 2", 3" and 4" walls, along with a window and narrow and wide doors, both open (not pictured) and closed.

Landscapes: The Iced Over River

I've been playing a lot of Frostgrave, and I'm entering into a campaign called "Thaw of the Lich Lord", and for that, I need a frozen river about 2 feet wide, and a six inch shore on either side.  Patrons have been asking on and off if I would ever do anything outdoors.  Well, this confluence of events has gotten me to take a crack at it.  This set is ...

Dungeon Stone Curved Rectangular Doors

Our second release this month are the dungeon stone curved rectangular doors.  This set is a lot more intense on the work, so I didn't blow it out through 6x6 or 8x8, but still, very happy with how they came out.  We've got 2x-4x, as well as the special versions of 4x that let you have things like doors at 90 degree angles.  There's been some defects around doors (though mostly the arched ones).  I was careful here to make sure the doors were tested for appropriate size wh...

Dungeon Stone Curved Arrow Slits

There's been some patrons doing some big castle type builds, and that asked about arrow slits on curved tiles.  With the feedback this month on the last survey, a number of people would also like a fully completed set, so I'm giving dungeon stone more love to try and drive towards getting it entirely finished.  This (and the next release) have also started the migration of some wall on tile stuff over to OpenForge from OpenForge.Rename.  It's not completed yet, but my expectati...

February Vote

Probably going to be a couple more months of banging out Yawning Portal parts, but I'll start slipping some other stuff in on one of the releases.

Two other things of note

  • From time to time I like to add a question to see how people are feeling about the project.  I did that this month, I also added a place where you can write in any feedback.
  • If you aren't using the OpenForge Discord, I strongly recommend it.  We're starting to get a pretty active commun...

Yawning Portal: Foundations

This release is going to be sort of an ongoing thing.  I'll be adding to this as other parts of the yawning portal need custom foundations (so those won't be their own release in the future, I'll just add them here).

Yawning Portal: Goblin Fireplace

Now we have the second most well known part of the yawning portal: The goblin fireplace.  We've got along with it, some fireplace logs that I recommend printing in resin if you intend to use them, and the whole thing can be lit up with a 3mm flickering led.

I get frustrated with the leds that use coin cell batteries for a variety of reasons, but a big one is just not much power.  This can take a whole 9 volt battery in the chimney, so you could probably leave it running for we...

Yawning Portal: The Portal

The first release for the tavern is here, and we're going straight for the best known aspect of the tavern: the portal itself.  In this release, we have the floor along with the portal.  The rim of the portal is an inch wide so that minis can stand on it, and the hole has an 8" diameter.  The more impressive of the two images shows this combined with the foundations that will be coming in another release later today, but if you use foundations with this, the portal will have re...

Whoops, January vote

So apparently I forgot to send out the January vote.  Here it is.  I won't have time to have this impact the designs for the month, but since the vote tally rolls over, I figured I would get it out when I noticed.  I've been working on stuff for the yawning portal regardless.  Vote closes in a week (and then I'll send the February one out).

Building Foundation Columns and Stairs

This rounds out everything needed to build basic foundations.  The pillars give you the corners, and the stairs give a path onto the riser. As noted, as I get these printed, I'll paint up a set to demonstrate their usage.

This set has matching columns for all the riser heights.  Low, Medium, High and Tall (2.5 inch).  We also have a couple types of stair (though only low at present).  66 files in all.

Building Foundation Walls

Following from risers, one needs those risers to actually look good.  This set is intended to be a simple stone brick cladding for the risers.  Eventually we can add some variety here with drains and such.  As noted, as I get these printed, I'll paint up a set to demonstrate their usage.

This set has matching walls for all the riser heights.  Low, Medium, High and Tall (2.5 inch).  We also have IA (1 inch), BA (1,5 inch), A (2 inch) and Q (4 inch).  With al...

Risers

This month, Building Facades won the vote.  There are two major projects in the hopper for building facades: Building Foundations and the Yawning Portal Tavern.  Well, I decided to combine them into one larger project, so I'm starting on the Yawning Portal, but doing so with building foundations.

There will be three releases today, all building up on foundations, and then next month I can start into the tavern.

Parts are still printing so I can photo up a demo on how t...

Dungeon Stone S-System Arched Doors & Windows

Expanding on the S-Series release, we're adding in a full set of doors and windows.  This has also given us a reasonable place to go back and fix an old problem with dungeon stone - the lack of 1x wide arched windows and doors.  So not only did we fix that here, but we've gone ahead and updated the separate wall and wall on tile sets to add these.

Grab the files:

Dungeon Stone S-System Walls & Corners

I've always found the S-System to be an interesting compromise on the wall/tile problem.  They are VERY easy to reason about when placing them on the table, and they give a lot more design room for the walls if you want more embellishment.  This release contains the very basics.  4 walls (1x-4x), 4 low walls (1x-4x), 5 corners (IO, II, IT, IL, IX) and 5 low corners (IO, II, IT, IL, IX).  These make for a really interesting set when trying to do walls that are in the interi...

November Updates

Bunch of updates this month.

First off, curved bases got the update treatment.  They now have the new flex magnetic holes, and the full span of connector options that the square bases updated last month.

Secondly, Cut-Stone Separate Wall went through the whole update process that I've been doing.  A bunch of missing files added, and they now all meet the new naming standard.

Thirdly, Dungeon Stone Ruined Separate Wall and Thick Wall, which are pretty small sets go...

Legacy Sewer update

The old sewer set has been updated to take bases.  With the way we reworked sewers, retooling these became possible - they should be fully compatible with the new set, but give you some options for some different textures.

Towne Separate Wall Windows

From this month's votes, we've got Towne Separate Wall Windows.  You can print and use directly, or, after painting, take clear UV resin and you can get some pretty great looking window panes in the frames.

Updates: Bases, Towne Separate Wall

Lots of updates this month.  First and most exciting, is I'm making major changes to the bases.  Due to the pandemic, some people have had a really hard time sourcing 5mm spherical magnets, but in some countries, they are also illegal to sell (such as in Canada).  This has created a lot of frustrations for many of you.  Well, the new magnetic bases now can support both spheres and disks.  The new magnetic hole has a flat side, allowing a disk to spin inside the hole, ...

Dungeon Stone Separate Wall Updates/Fixes

Dungeon Stone is far and away the oldest set for Separate Wall now, being the first to be updated to OpenForge 2.0.  A lot has happened on other sets that was not available in dungeon stone.  Infinitylock, new tile shapes and sizes for the range, base options.  195 updates in all across the entirety of the Dungeon Stone Separate Wall range.
