The first stage of Pure Onyx is coming along really well, and we’ve got a lot to show you :D. Limbo and Kitsune are also working full time now, so we’ll hopefully be making a lot of steps forward on character art and animation this coming month. We’re also going to try to have some H animation stuff ready this month pending we get the remaining kinks out of the animation system – but more on that below.

I’m going to keep it relatively short and sweet this month. Progress is going very well on Pure Onyx! We required some extra support for the artwork, so we’ve pulled TK over to help with coloring, and we’ve added a new animator as well – Limbo’s friend, Kitsune. She will be helping us with Spine animations, meaning we now have a great little character artwork development pipeline between the four of us.

Mr. Kittyhawk discovered the likely culprit behind the Admin mode / startup issues with the Pure Onyx test release. Turns out Unity was outputting one of the settings files to *his* user path instead of *your* user path, meaning for anyone that ran the test build there’ll be an extra Windows user folder you can delete: ‘C:\Users\schmee’. If your Windows user folder already happens to named ‘schmee’, then no action is required o.O heh.

As I mentioned in the last update, this is a pretty barebones functionality test. It’s brief, is still using the character sketches for artwork, and probably more clunky than fun – but that’s where we need your feedback :D. Sorry for the long wait between posts. We’ve been especially busy trying to get stuff nailed down for a Pure Onyx release. On that note, there’s some good news and bad news. The good news is that we’re aiming to have full color / shaded Onyx sprites ready for this first release. The bad news is we won’t have them ready before the end of the month. We can however have a playable build ready for you IC guys next week or so, it’ll just be using sketches.

We’re still working on getting our first full character conversion over to Maya, but the good news is we’re nearly there. TK has put a ton of hours in this past week, and we even pulled AltairPL in to help script a solution to the big obstacle TK talked about in last week’s update. We’re just on the verge of doing the first full test conversion of Malise with all the clothing/props/morphs etc, and our tests over the last few days suggest it should work like a charm :D.
