The rough sketch was from last year (higher Tiers may have seen it come by) but I couldn't get to it in time then. I found it again this year though. It's never lost in my ToDo folder. Unless that folder is haunted. Then items might well be disappearing without me knowing. Right? 😁🎃Anyway, Elvis has not left the building.

Call it a sketch, because it's not smooth and more like an experiment. It did not go quick at all though. Either one entirely about All Grown Up Red Riding Hood and her Big Bad Wolf or one just on the Beauty and the Beast theme from all angles and perspectives with all kinds of beauties and beasts. I watched 'Doctor Sleep' the other day and I really liked it. Kind of a vampire-like mood to it. It was kind of built on the ancient classic 'The Shining'. Not a true sequel, but some actual scenes of it were integrated nonetheless. Including that axe scene with Jack Nicholson coming through the door literally ("Here's Johnny"). That's what gave me this idea. Odd how my mind works sometimes.
I didn't try to render it smoothly because, well, it was just a loose and quick idea. I like it ...

Understandably so, and traditionally also, the weekend does not generate much response, no matter the post. Not here and not elsewhere. Not that it would stop me to post anyway. And here it is. Just to be clear; this painting is not any political or social statement even though the theme may be controversial. I just thought it was funny. That's why I painted it.

Artistically for me, the point of doing series is to get to stuff I did not do before. It used to take a series of sketches to achieve that, but nowadays the sketches go beyond the rough scribbles and doodles so the series often get to be true series with different moods and settings and rendered properly. Even the rough ideas turn out pretty well for me. That took a lot of practice and time but that flow I try to get in generates beautiful scenes sometimes.

She's the ideal employee if you don't mind her naturist inclination of course. Luckily she only indulges after hours because it would be so hard to explain to all those inhibited people out there.
