What should the next video be on?

Hey, I hope you're having a nice summer! It's finally time for a new poll, here are the options:

1) I've already made a video on Baudrillard through American Psycho, but probably the most popular cultural product associated with Baudrillard is The Matrix, which was influenced by him, the actors had to read his writings, his book Simulacra and Simulations was shown in the movie, and quotes of his were used in the script as well. However, Baudrillard quite harshly distanced himself from ...

Notes for "What are societies of control?"

Attached the reading notes for the latest video on the post, and added it to the Google Drive ( https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rasWDAFyI4t1EOSePbeLc0LbMKf10rHN )
I also added the 4th chapter from Todd May's Gilles Deleuze: An Introduction on the Google Drive, which is on Deleuze's political theory. Enjoy!

What are societies of control?

New video is out! The audio is rough on this at some parts because I was recording in difficult circumstances, but now that I've finished moving out I'm buying a better a microphone sometime in the summer. Reading notes for the video are coming soon. The following have been added to the Cuck Philosophy google drive (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rasWDAFyI4t1EOSePbeLc0LbMKf10rHN): View Post

Update

Hi, everyone!

The topic of societies of control was the clear winner on the last poll. As my semester is coming to a close, I'm even more busy than usual right now, so I expect to be done with the video sometime next month. I'm also still in the process of making a response video to the Zizek-Peterson debate, which I'm doing in collaboration with Anarchopac and Red Plateaus. It won't be a "Peterson owned" type video but more of an introductory educational video on Marxism using the deba...

What should the next video be?

Here are the options:

(1) In 1990, Deleuze wrote an essay called “Postscript on the Societies of Control” which despite being short was very influential. It described a move away from what Foucault called disciplinary society to a new form of society, based not on discipline, but the control of the flows of information. Whereas disciplinary societies required people to be enclosed into defined spaces and schedules in order to control them (the factory, the school, the hospital, the...

Notes for the latest video

Sorry for the wait, I've attached the reading notes for the cyberpunk video, and also added it to the Google drive (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rasWDAFyI4t1EOSePbeLc0LbMKf10rHN). I also added "Utopia" by Thomas More to the drive since it was mentioned in the notes. I'll put up a new poll today too.

The Cultural Significance of Cyberpunk

The new video is finally out. I've uploaded the script as well as some additional texts to the Google Drive (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rasWDAFyI4t1EOSePbeLc0LbMKf10rHN). I've added:
“Zeroes and Ones” by Sadie Plant
The journal “Varient”, issue 14, which has an essay by Sadie Plant (in the Books > Journal folder)
“Cognitive Mapping” by Fredric Jameson

Update

Hi, everyone! I started writing my script on the cultural (perhaps "theoretical" would be more fitting) significance of Cyberpunk, as that's the option that won in the poll. I just sat down to write it an hour ago and the script was flowing probably more effortlessly than ever before, which I hope is a good sign.

I have uploaded 2 works by Donna Haraway related to my upcoming video to the Google drive: "A Cyborg Manifesto" and "Simians, Cyborgs, and Women" - 2019-04-25 10:12:56 +0000 UTC View Post

New poll

I'm currently discussing doing a video on the Peterson debate with a few other YouTubers.
Meanwhile, here's the poll for my next video besides that, so I'd know what to start reading up on:

1) Not sure if this would be the title. This one would be a very general kind of a follow-up to my video "Neoliberalism, World Music and Corporate Aesthetics". I would pose cyberpunk as a counterpoint to the kind of corporate return-to-innocence primitivist tropes you had in the 90s. While world ...

Zizek-Peterson Debate

Oh boy. As most of you probably know, Zizek is debating Peterson right now. After listening for just a few minutes, I've already heard Peterson prove how little he knows about Marxism. So, I'm wondering, should I do a video on the debate (probably listing all the things Peterson gets wrong about Marxism)? It would be a simple video and wouldn't take as long to make as my other ones.

I've been unable to work on the video at the end of last month because I'm dealing with an immigration process right now. I'm sorry about that. I'm editing the video now and hopefully it'll be done before the end of the week.

I've attached the script in case you want to read it before the video comes out. I've also uploaded it on the Google Drive along with 2 texts related to the video - Deleuze & Guattari's Anti-Oedipus, and Lacan's "The Mirror Stage as Formative of the Function o...

So, I've got several updates. First of all, I attached the notes to the Emoji Movie video on this post, and also uploaded it to the Google drive - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rasWDAFyI4t1EOSePbeLc0LbMKf10rHN

Some people have had trouble accessing the Google drive. If you do too, send me your e-mail (whether in the comments or in a personal message) and that way I'll be able ...

What should the next video be about? (Repost)

Goddammit, in my previous post I wrote "What did Baudrillard think of The Emoji Movie?" instead of "The Matrix". Clearly I have The Emoji Movie on my mind too much since the previous video. Anyway, since I want to make sure that there's no confusion (and because Patreon doesn't allow Poll option editing), I made a new post. Make sure to vote again if you did on the last one!

Here are the options:

1) This probably isn't the title the final video will have, I have to come up wi...

Hello, welcome and thank you to all my new patrons!

I've attached the script to the video on the Emoji Movie on this post, and also uploaded it on our Google drive (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rasWDAFyI4t1EOSePbeLc0LbMKf10rHN). I will be uploading older script files to the drive as well. The reading notes for the video will be coming later this week. I've been very busy la...

The Emoji Movie, Adorno and the Culture Industry

The upload finally worked. I had to put on a threshold effect on the footage to avoid copyright claims, but you can download the original version on the Cuck Philosophy google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1rasWDAFyI4t1EOSePbeLc0LbMKf10rHN

I will upload the script file and reading notes as soon as I finish them. Thank you for the support, everyone! View Post

New video was going to be uploaded earlier today, but a copyright claim has blocked it in all countries. I'm trying to slightly edit the Emoji Movie footage in hopes that it'll avoid detection once I upload it again. What should the next video be?

Hey, it's time for a new video poll! I have a whole bunch of ideas developing in my head right now, but I'm still not sure about many of them, so for now 2 of the options are old ones I never did.

Here are the options:

1. I would talk about The Emoji Movie as an example of what The Frankfurt School's Adorno and Horkheimer called the culture industry - when culture becomes commodified, standardized, mass-produced and used to keep people in passivity. Even though Adorno’s work ...

Happy new year, everyone! My first video of the year will be a list of my 10 favorite books I've read in 2018, along with descriptions of each book so you could decide if it's something you'd like to read as well.

To make this a bit more interactive, if you have any requests for any kind of book recommendations, tell me in the comments and I'll give you my recommendations (if I have any) in the video.

Thanks!

A Postmodernism FAQ: Part II - How does postmodernism differ from X?

Part 2 is here! I've attached the video script on this post. As usual, the reading notes will be posted as soon as I finish working on them. I'll try finishing the final part this month.

Part 3 will be about postmodernism as a cultural/historical condition, and so it will cover some of the media/cultural/artistic senses in which postmodernism is understood. I'm still taking in questions, so feel free to ask new ones on that specific topic.

Thank you for the support, I'll see you la...

Sorry for the wait, here are the helping notes to the previous video. MAJOR thanks to Red Panda Meat for formatting the document.

A Postmodernism FAQ: Part I - Introduction

Part I is finally out! For future reference, I kinda learned that I don't enjoy making this type of video, because there were so many questions to choose from and explaining things as accessibly as possible can be difficult when the topic is so broad. I find it a lot more fun when the topic is narrowed down and I'm applying theory to something specific. Either way, I will release 2 more parts of this FAQ. Hopefully both will be made in December, but I can't be certain.

I attached the (rou...

I have received A LOT of good and useful questions for my Postmodernism FAQ. Obviously I won't be able to answer all of them but you're still welcome to continue asking them, as the selection process isn't over.

Because of how many questions I have received, the FAQ will be divided into several videos. I'm thinking of something along the lines of Part 1) Introduction, 2) How postmodernism differs from X, 3) The postmodern condition 4) Specific theorists. That might change though.

What should I do to celebrate 50,000 subscribers?

So, I reached 50,000 subscribers (thank you!!!) recently and I'm going to do something on that occasion, depending on what you're most interested in. The options I'm thinking of are:

1) A livestream video. I'd do it on YouTube, probably for 2 hours or so, mostly interacting with whoever will be in the chat and whatever else I think of. Have never done any kind of livestream before so we'd see how it goes.

2) A general Q&A, the kind I've done before. Would have people ask me que...
