Filming today!

You guuuuys, I have to change Office Hours to tomorrow at 10am because we had to switch days for filming My Immortal. 

Initially, we were supposed to film tomorrow, but the weather is nice and overcast today. Tomorrow it will be sunny, and that's too happy for My Immortal. Hehe. We want to experiment with natural light.

The other fun thing is we're filming at my parent's house because my mom has a piano with... hmmm... "Piano de cola", it's called. Which translates into "Piano with ...

I'm so glad that for this song in particular, we were able to make something that I feel fits the song better and hopefully retains the mood of the original.

September Extra Video

It's still September in Mexico! hahaha! Cutting it close.

But here's the extra video. It was fun to film this with Thor and Omi out in the backyard.

I've wanted to try this approach since Omi got a steady cam thingie for the iPhone. A gimble? I think that's what it's called.

I Maloofused the audio because I set a small portable recorder I have, BUT I forgot to put the windscreen on. So, you'll get to hear some wind. hahaha! I'll fix that next time.

When Art Inspires Art

Hey guys! 

I've set the release date for the new cover, Sinking Ships by Trees of Eternity,  for Monday, October 1st. Can't wait for you to hear it!

I wanted to post the string arrangement I wrote for it on its own. I listened to it solo this afternoon and it transported me. I love how it can clearly remind me of the song, but it can also stand on its own as an individual piece.

I absolutely love it when music inspires more music. I never would have created this arrangeme...

Fixing Several Things :)

So many silly mistakes on my part these last couple of days... I'm debating whether I need a good night's sleep or an ice-cold Margarita.

Extra Video - June

A few of my friends from childhood grew up to be Teachers. They invited me to sing "Heal the World" for their school's Earth Day celebration. It was such a sweet moment. I shared a picture of it when it happened, but not the video. 

Here it is. It was so heartwarming to be there. I almost went to ask if they could give me a job as a music teacher. Some day. #goals

Oh, Take Me Back to the Start

Here we go. Take 2. The old vinyl floor is getting removed in order to install a new one. This time, they’re going to install it without the acoustic material underneath because as we found out, it tends to lift and warp the poor vinyl. <br><br>I am looking forward to finally installing the new sit and stand desk that I got recently! It will hopefully be a much more efficient way to record. Singing while standing is definitely so much more comfortable than sitting and hunched over....

We finished filming the collaboration with Peter Hollens today! Many thanks to Omi for not only controlling the camera, but also controlling my flyaway hairs. Hahaha. 

I can totally understand why professional musicians who make professional videos have a stylist on set. It seems that after every take, there was something to fix with my hair. And then after we finished everything and I took the footage to the computer, I realized that I had a little tiny dot of mascara smudged under my ey...
