Witch?

Drawing with some work buddies. 

On the original sketch, the head was too large so I fixed in Photoshop and added tones. Strangely even after changing the head size, it still feels large!  

I used the black mech pencil on the right for most of the drawing but I kept questioning if the lead was either 2h or H cause I wasnt able to get too dark. The grey pencil on the right was most likely 2b which is what Im mostly used to. I dont use my sketchbook as often as I did years ago bu...

Concepts

More for a friend`s project.  Design was pretty much decided but they felt the era was misplaced. Went on to create more thumbs that fit the era. The original look was more gothic/victorian/steampunk but wanted something more middle ages.

Towards the end of  recording, my computer crashed so I lost the video.  I would like to build a new pc or buy a new one sometime soon if possible. A lot of recent issues have been getting in the way of work I do at home.

Sketchbook fash

Taking ideas from pics and stuff Ive seen on the street. 

Something I noticed upon coming to Japan is that when drawing with HB lead, it seems to almost turn to 2H (lighter lead) when its humid. Most likely because of the paper. This throws me off since it was always dry in Southern California. But yea, when its humid, I find I have to press harder.  

As with digital sketches, I keep the initial roughs really light then proceed to darken once I have something I like.

Inch commission rough

Had a person ask me for a commission a month or so ago on Tumblr and didnt notice! Decided to do his even though I was taking a break. This is the first of Colour rough commissions.

A mix of from my head sketches and ref`ed ones. The ref`ed ones were more like a memory challenge. I would study many images visually, then put the references away and just draw what I remember. I had never really consciously done this before but I will be doing more of this in the future.

Juri rough process

In my mind I had an idea for a pose and for the first part of the process, you can see that there was a nice counter-balance with the shoulder and hips. Since I started to adjust angles of some of the body parts(mainly the upper torso), I began to lose the counter-balance I had in the initial sketch without realizing it.  The middle sketch, I let it sit for a day an came back to it later and realized what had disappeared, the counter-balance.
