I hadn't posted anything of original character stuff in a while, so here is a pic of shark mutant lady Tiger, from the RADD Roach story idea. Also included Fallout and Blackbody as usual too.

Included in this set are a couple of recent sketches of Tiger and Fallout from my ipad.

The later half of this batch of sketches is from earlier, so it's a bit of a repost from last year- but Fallout is wearing the same bikini so I figure it's topically relevant lol.

Iroha sketches!

I bit of bonus material at the last minute lol (well, in regards to PST, at least). 

 Iroha was pretty close in the polls to Blaze and I wanted to draw her as well. Here are a batch of sketches as a bonus. 

Some of these are more pin-up / action poses, while others are a bit silly or strange. I guess I wanted to try something with origami cranes too,  for some reason. Some of these sketches are several attempts at the same concept.

WOH WOH WOWO WOOOAAAH WOAAAH

Went on a bit of a tangent, here's some Min Min! Though I still was hoping for Twintelle, so some sketches of her too. Min Min does make sense in Smash because of her kicking abilities and is still a good choice. Anyway, fun characters to figure out, particularly how to pose with the titular arms oho.

Blaze WIP, plus additional sketches

For now, I went with 03, as it seemed like it could be relatively quick to do and got a bunch of votes. That being said, I'll try to do 01 and 02 as well, as those would be a lot of fun and also got picked a lot.

Trying out a way to keep / use the sketch lines directly to save time and because I'd like to see if I can preserve the look in some way. Here's a WIP so far.

Also, a couple of additional sketches, some based on her Streets of Rage 2 outfit.

Blaze wins the poll

It was a close call between Iroha and Blaze, but Blaze ended up winning the poll by a few votes. I'll see if I can draw the other characters within this month / in general too, but for now I'll be focusing on Blaze first.

Here's a sketch I had on hand, but I'm not satisfied with this. I'll try several things in the coming week.

 I actually forgot to add Shirahoshi and Undyne to the poll originally, so I ended up just doing illustrations of them anyway. I guess there are a lot of giant mermaid characters, oddly enough.

Splatoon post~

A bit of a Mer-may themed tangent, I wanted to make a Splatoon post because of the special return of Splatfest last weekend ! (Yay team Ketchup oho~)

I ended up drawing a saucy (lol) mayo vs ketchup pic, and also a general Pearl and Marina piece, as I had only drawn them once before prior to this (the third image in this set)

Also, here are some drawings I did for a Splatoon zine back during the first game, and some of the sketches leading up to the chosen illustrations.

On the topic of Mer-may ~

I sketched these way back when the movie had a limited theatrical release. I love this movie, it's so fun, charming, heartwarming and animated. 

Science Saru is just such a wonderful studio in general. The first drawing here of Lu and Minette is something I gave as a gift to the staff when meeting up with them during a trip to Japan a few years back.

Giga Mermaid illustration sketch compositions.

Here are a couple more explorations of possible compositions. Mostly the same idea with slightly different approaches, though the last one is more of an after-battle context. I wanted to try getting the tail or her whole form as a mermaid to be visible. I might still go with the first one from a few days ago, but with an attempt to have the tail in there. Still mulling it over. Do you have any preferences?

Mermaids !

While waiting for the poll to conclude, I figure it might be fun to see some of my own mermaid characters as well. Most of the images and designs in this post are from when I was at Gaia Online. These were for the aquarium feature "Ocean Party."

Actually, the upright images were made to be painted and segmented- to be animated in a puppet / pieces kind of style, similar to stuff might be done in a Vanillaware game, for example.

Here's April's character poll illustration, Bayonetta ! I apologize for it being off by a day m(_)m; The details were a bit intensive, as is almost always the case with Bayonetta haha.

Anyway! I went with her Bayonetta 1 outfit, because I had done 2 for the Easter Smash pic.

Plus, a bonus greyscale version of the pic as well.
