Couple of pieces I've been working on since the year changed over. I've been working with a few commissions lately too, so it's slowed me down some, but I'm plugging away.

I also have a bunch of sketches I need to scan that I'll get up soon.

The first piece is a 'treasure' token for the MTG set I'm working on, and the second one is Dread, a character originally from CoH that I've retooled into a guardians character. It's weird working with that much purple.

Happy New Year everyone! 2020 has been taxing for all of us, but I'm looking forward to starting up 2021. Thank you all a TON for all your support this year, it's made a HUGE impact in my life, and I very very much appreciate it.

Sorry that I've been so quiet lately. I've had a bit of a rough go with some family issues and health stuff (Nothing fatal, just my migraines, etc) but that's turning around, I think! Here's a couple of pieces, a male and female.

Sketchbook Dump

Lately my work days have been tied up in commissions, but I've squeezed in a little time to do some sketching.

The first piece is just a sketch of Jua done with a purple col-erase pencil. It's just a highschool age Jua sitting around outside her school.

The second piece is an action shot of Leo Whitestar, an old City of Heroes character of mine, with lots of liberties taken, who's going to be the leader of my little Guardians thing, unless something changes when I get to seriously...

Last one! I did a redo of an old piece from 5 years ago, today. The old piece was done in Sketchbook. The old piece is one I'm fairly happy with, but I wanted to see if I could do it better.

The ink was done with a dip pen and india ink, and it's $50 if anyone wants it!

Artober Day 30: Dance

No horror or Halloween today. I went into Jua's past and pulled a scene from when she and Byron were still happy and together. Felt like doing something romantic, even if it's a dead relationship

Artober Day 29: Cleopatra

It's not really Cleopatra, it's Jamie in a costume! I'm trying to wrap up the month with Halloween pics, but I'm starting to really fumble for what to do. It's getting to be a lot of creative burnout.

Artober Day 28: Sabertooth

One of my pieces got compared to Roy Krenkel's art, which was a huge compliment to me, so today I decided to lean into that hard, and try to loosen up my inking some. I've gotten a little stiff with it, I think, since it intimidates me. This piece may be a bit more Frazetta than Krenkel, but it's all the same school. I grew up with a love of that barbarian fantasy look and feel, I'm sorta sad that it's fallen so out of favor.

Lindsey! Maybe this is her 'work' costume, or something? It's not a super sexy outfit, which is a change for her, but I'm trying to keep this year's challenge 'family friendly'. I'm toying with the idea of doing an NSFW daily drawing thing at some point though, if there's any interest in that.

It's Wraptor from my Guardians project, in the running for 'dumbest name', neck and neck with 'Hay Wire'.

Today's is not for sale! It's Mara's character, Swift. Did it as a gift art. She's MaraTheBrave on FA, and is doing the art challenge too!

Soundwave and Buzzsaw (cuz I like him better than Laser Beak, but it's a monochrome pic, so it can be either!). I'm not used to mechanical characters like this, so it was good practice

Today I wanted to draw one of my science-fiction characters, so I did Luna Moonglow, the unicorn gal. Brush and pen with India ink!

Felt like drawing some Guild Wars 2 stuff. This is my charr, Kitt. She's my main character, and I love her to death. She's definitely a villain with the full villain aesthetic.

Highschool Jua having an awkward time at a party where she doesn't really know anyone, except her friends who are busy with people who're strangers to her. Also she's wearing a lazy pirate costume.

Did this with a brush and dip pen, more like how I generally draw the comic.

This is what happens when I don't sleep. I was up all night, went shopping, and then decided to do this before going to bed. So my brain got weird and surrealist. I used to do paintings like this, but it's been a few years. Same weird lonely/foreboding tone, not subject matter.

Artober Day 18: Cyberpunk

Wanted to draw a lioness again. Also a cyborg. I thought about using the dip pen again, then decided a more 'modern' tool set would work better, so this one's done with microns.

Today's not a fantastic day for me (as evidenced by me posting so late). It's my dad's birthday. Anyway, did a pen and brush piece of Jua in her jacket. Moody and a bit scratchier than my normal.

Trying a simpler style with a more difficult tool, today. Did this entirely with a brush. It's my little 'cartoon' villain Sea Widow. If I ever get Sunshine wrapped up, I wanna do a comic with these characters, and I definitely want a simpler style for it, so it doesn't take ages.

Mildly related, I've bought some styrene sheets, and am gonna TRY to make her ship as an action figure accessory. I'll put some pics up when I start working out the design, etc. Then we can all see how hard I ...

Artober Day 13: Ivy Sings

Ivy's one of my favorite characters in my comic, and she has the absolute smallest role in the story I'm wanting to tell. I'm thinking about doing a Lindsey centered story once Jua's story is wrapped up, and Ivy will play a much larger role in that one.

I loosely referenced a picture of Lisa Rieffel, the singer for Killola, for this picture. I think Ivy's music would be similar to theirs. They're a much underappreciated band.

Artober Day 12: Spikor

Killing more than one bird with this stone: It's fan art (something I need to work on) it's artober, and it's the character for this week's MotU drawing challenge on twitter!

Spikor's a figure I somehow lost in my move, and only replaced last month, and he's such a fun weird design that I had to draw him when I saw him on the challenge for this week. I couldn't think of anything better for today, so here he is!

Did a trick-or-treating Tamara as a witch today! Wanted to do something cute, and I hadn't drawn her in a while. Definitely not drawn her as a kid in a while. This one was dip pen and brush again.

We had our first guests all year long, today. My GF's sister and her boyfriend came out from California all the way to Virginia, so I'm a little late today.

She Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix was a super good series, and a super fun reinterpretation of the vintage She Ra: Princess of Power, and I was particularly smitten by the new imagining of my favorite She Ra villain, Catra.

I struggle with fanart, it's something I feel like I 'should' do, as it is generally way more popular than original works. It makes sense, fans of a property are already engaged with it, so they're more open to it. I also struggle with human characters so...
