Mara, Help

Kinda based on "Iron Shadows in the Moon," in which Conan rescues a damsel from a slaver, some pirates, an ape-monster, and some cursed statues, all in one short story.

Thanks for another month, everyone! Here's a Mara WIP that I'm in the middle of. I think I get a better feel for her every time I draw her. I hope I can keep up this same energy for a while. I'll be updating the $10 cache google drive thingy later today.

Hi Fi Rush

Korsica and Peppermint from Hi Fi Rush. I haven't played it, but I watched a playthrough on youtube, and it's just as good as any short anime. Reminds me of a game called No More Heroes, except instead of being hyper-edgy, Hi Fi Rush is cute. 

Wood-Splitter

I'm still drawing some random stuff just to motivate myself, and get it out of my head. I've been working on commissions, but my confidence wavered, and I'd rather not put that energy into a commission, it's better to work it out with my own stuff. I think this one came out kinda cute. I'm thinking about using "Wood-Splitter" the Orc again, but not as frequently as Mara. 

Mara's Barbaric Bearhug

I've been drawing some random Mara stuff, because I'm feeling sluggish, and I'd rather waste that energy on my own stuff than my commissions. This came out looking a lot better than the last one. 

I want to do a lot more of these one-shots that reveal Mara's personality, rather than the plot. This is earlier in her career as a barbarian, when she fought in arenas and fight-clubs for money (and fun). Once she becomes the god-queen of her own empire, she'll have her own arenas to fig...

Mara the Burglar

Quick little Mara one-shot for myself, to warm myself up for a commission. Although Mara will one day become the god-queen of her own empire, I imagine that she spent much of her late teens and early twenties as a burglar. This is when she'd have her archetypical "Thieves Guild" storyline that is so common in fantasy.

Unspoken twist. The person knocking is gay or bisexual, and they're there for the bisexual Black guy. It's the blond woman who is the chad.

Mara WIP

I'm having a hard time switching gears between commissions and my personal project. I wish I could draw faster. Some artists accomplish multiple pages a day, but it's taken me five months to get to page 21. She's still fighting her fist monster, and I don't intend for this story to end until she defeats her first minor warlord and conquers their small fiefdom for herself, beginning the 'Mara Khanate' as a rival to Asheena's Khanate.  

Goblin Strategy

The top art is actually from a few years ago, but I never used it for anything. I think it's back from another time I got really bored with myself, and I thought about making Cadence the main character, with Mark as the foil. The bottom section was drawn recently. 

Mara the Savior

I've been slow. I drag my feet way more than I used to. Ugh. Well, here is Mara kicking the butts of some Egyptian/Stygian looking baddies, and saving a young twink for getting sacrificed, murdered, or whatever. Classic barbarian heroics. 

Goldilocks and the Three . . .

Puss in Boots was really good. I didn't realize that it's a sequel. Apparently there are a bunch of Shrek movies that I'm never going to take the time to see. 

The Princess and the Centaur

Experimenting with Cadence as her own character. Just an epic slutty princess. Also emphasizing that she's part Elf. Maybe I'll make a comic explaining that her elven features will stand out more and more as she ages. But that's boring. That's homework. 

Summoning

Summoning demon is probably a better idea than using a dating app. 

The Dwarf and the Brain-Burster

Wizards of the Coast has going full corpo, it seems. They want to revoke their open game license, which was what made DnD the thing it is. The endless push to monetize literally everything in life is going to turn the world into a brothel. Every interaction, monetized. Every experience, monetized. Every aspect of freedom, monetized. Pay-walled. (I hypocritically complain on my Patreon).

Mark or Mara

If I did some funny one-shots are generic fantasy themed, would you rather they be of Mark and Cadence, or Mara and Kama? Mara can still be funny, but the aesthetic is more of a pseudo-historical "low" fantasy, than a cartoony DnD campaign. I'm opening this poll to everyone because I'm just curious.
