Development Update! 06-11-2021 - Release Imminent

Hello Everyone,

We're adding in dialogue, running play tests to discover errors, and adding some more details to the world. If all goes to plan, we’ll have River's End - Part One, our first of many NSFW DLCs, available by next weekend for Patreons to play test.

Meanwhile, here is a synopsis of River’s End DLC:

You're a lone wanderer with a murky past trying to make it in the harsh and desolate Mojave Desert.

You wake up in a bar called River’s End dizzy and clueless as to how you ended up there.

While exploring the area, you come across settlements and tribes, each with their own way of life but all with the same goal, to survive the wasteland and its dangerous inhabitants.

The Mojave is infamous for its lucrative slave trade, and raider tribes extorting supplies from settlements, each defending their way of life; after all, it’s a man eat man world out here.

The past isn’t important now, the future is, what will you be remembered for, and how will you survive? That is a question only time will answer. But one thing is certain: it’s a man eat man world out there, and you haven’t eaten for days.

Development Update! 16-10-2021

Hello everyone,

Some good news, we are working on a "NSFW Story DLC" that allows for a story and setting more appropriate for a mature audience. The DLC called “Project Blue Moon: River’s End” will be available at no extra cost, and we hope to have it available very soon, with the goal of having a playable game by mid to end of November.

Some exciting developments took place, including the implementation of the first interactions and quests.

Project Blue Moon is a massive project with multiple complex systems that all need to work flawlessly for the others to rely on. On top of that, we're creating a new universe with a detailed history and, in some ways, a future because this universe needs to span across multiple games, etc., we're creating characters, each with backstories, hideouts, and relationships, and we need to do it all in such a way that players who don't want mature content can still play and enjoy the game.  All of the above is possible, and we've made great strides, but it means that the mature audience may have to wait patiently for actual mature content, which I don't like.

Because most game systems have been implemented, I've decided to "split" the game's development into two complementary yet distinct directions.

The first will be to continue with the main story as planned, but the second will be to create a "NSFW Story Pack" or “DLC” if you will, that allows for a story and setting that is more appropriate for a mature audience.

This pack and the original game will share the same universe and everything in it, but the story pack will follow another character from a different village with a different backstory, resulting in a more mature story.

Project Blue Moon: River’s End” will be available at no extra cost, and we hope to have Episode One available very soon, with the goal of having a stable version by the end of November followed by Episode Two thereafter. More info on our first content pack will be coming soon.

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience, and I hope that this decision and NSFW DLC are worthy of your continued support.

Update! 30-09-2021

Hello, everyone!

I've got some exciting news for you about our next update, we're making good progress! The next update will primarily focus on our "mature" side of things (finally, I know), and we're excited to share some information.

We've put a lot of time and effort into "procedural animations," trying to make each "pose" or animation unique every time it's played.

This includes body part physics, which is not animated but rather simulated using physics in the new "fool around system," which gives us great power and allows you to use a wide range of... tools... and have body parts interact correctly.

However, as the saying goes, "with great power comes great responsibility," and having everything simulate means a lot can go wrong, which is usually amusing but isn't always a good thing... so our task now is to figure out just how simulated we want to go.

We're considering allowing players to break the rules and experiment by adding a subsection to the menu system; we believe this provides the most options, and who knows, maybe some of those features will eventually make their way into the "standard" menu.

This is consuming a significant amount of time and resources, but it is an essential component of Project Blue Moon and our vision of creating a truly mature post-apocalyptic RPG. We appreciate your continued support and patience, as this game would not be possible without you.

We're working on a short video to show off some of the other things and features we're developing; it should be available soon. ;D

Update! 27-08-2021

Hello, everyone!

What a hectic couple of months it's been so far. I got Covid-19 midway through implementing creatures, which set us back at least three weeks. Fortunately, my symptoms were minor; nevertheless, four weeks later, I am still experiencing “long covid” symptoms.
The "worst discomfort" I'm experiencing right now is fatigue after a few minutes of physical labor, 30 percent of my taste is still lacking (coffee taste like worm water, it sucks), and strange heat flashes are still present. We didn't have a vaccine option for under 40s in our country, thus that risk/reward analysis couldn't happen before I had it.

Anyway, I felt I owed you an explanation as to why there hasn't been an update yet, and I'm happy to say that the update is in final play testing and should be available on Monday or Tuesday.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

How to Share

Hello, everyone!

We'd like to hear from you. We have a lot more material to share with you, and we'd want to hear your thoughts on the best method to do it.

We're finishing up creatures right now, and we'd want to share information like damage and poison numbers, behavioral tendencies, and so on. Keep in mind that this does not only apply to creatures but menu systems, animations, etc. The information also includes game spoilers, albeit not necessarily plot spoilers.

If you have a moment, please vote or give a suggestion in the comments section.

If you are late to the poll, you may still contribute.

Thanks!

Patreon Development Update 23-07-2021

Hello everyone!

In this update we’ll focus a little on creatures. Creatures will play a large roll in Project Blue Moon; thus, we’re taking our time making sure we do it right.

Creatures comes in all shapes and sizes, some extremely dangerous and others not so much, this allows us to make an eco-system where creatures will attack less dangerous creatures and have unique behaviors where they will hide from predators and others will team up and fight back.

Creatures need to eat, and they need to drink, some will hunt, and some will graze.

Some creatures can see better at night and some during the day, where other creatures have better hearing, adding to the uniqueness of each creature.

In the next update we’ll be adding 12 creature types all with their own hierarchy systems.

Have a great weekend!

Patreon Development Update 28-05-2021

Hello everyone!

Just a quick update,

Game version 1.11.0.0 will be available on Saturday, we did not feel satisfied with the “state” of the game thus we pushed back the game update a couple weeks so to allow the team to polish the game a bit more before release.

We made massive changes to core systems in game, and it took more work that initially thought, these changes however are final and inadvertently paved the way for the next major update - AI and NPCs.

Today we are busy adding “hints” to various aspects of the game so to make it easier to figure out game systems, after the hints we will have a final playtest and release (Saturday).

We appreciate your patience, and we will talk soon,

Stark, and team.

Patreon Development Update 11-05-2021

And just like that another week has passed, so here is your weekly update!

Inventory

We added the ability to layer any type of outfit over another, meaning you can layer a gasmask over a balaclava while wearing a helmet. This layer system allows for a very wide range of amours and apparel to make your character and companions truly unique.

Dismemberment

Every character and creature will feature full dismemberment. Our implemented dismemberment system will separate limbs as soon as the appropriate damage threshold has been met, in short – more damage = more gore. Each blood droplet is a physical object which means it can splash onto objects. Each dismemberment can spew thousands of droplets, making every kill unique.

Tribal Camp

Tribals are a faction that due to their isolation from the wasteland formed an interesting culture, everything in their camps is usually hand made including their mud huts, body paints and weapons.

Tribals will play a big part in the main quest as they complicate things for your character…

Game Update

We plan on releasing a game update during next weekend, it will include the above including a shooting range to test various weapons. After this release we will move on to creatures and AI.

As always if you have any questions write them bellow and we’ll answer as much as we can.

That is it for this week, hope you have a fun and safe weekend!

Patreon Development Update 04-05-2021

Hello everyone, it has been a while… We plan on doing development updates every Friday no matter how small the update for that week is, this way you can more closely follow the development of Project Blue Moon.

Few quick notes, thanks to the support we get from you, our patron, we will be getting video capture cards and do upgrades to our computers in the coming weeks so to start recording proper gameplay that we can share to all our wonderful supporters. Streaming and recording handwear is expensive and you helped a great deal!

We have also converted a test version of Project Blue Moon to the new Unreal Engine 5 engine, suffice to say we are blown away with the new capabilities and cannot wait to implement the new engine with our builds, it really is a big deal.

Now... on to the update.

A lot has happened since the last update, mainly the integration of weapons and the new inventory system. We will focus on these today.

Inventory

Since the beginning of the development of Blue Moon we wanted to implement a grid-based inventory system, the system gives each item you wear pockets, meaning if you only wear trousers, you will only have a 4-grid inventory, each grid square is about the size of a large apple and each grid squire represents a pocket on those particular pants. Different trousers will have different grid sizes. You can also “Hide” various items, so if you do not want to wear a backpack you can simply hide the object while still wearing it.

The inventory system allows for “on the move modding” of weapons and equipment. If you loot a backpack or container, you can remove mods from the items contained in that container or only remove the items stored in a items pockets so to save space in your inventory, you can also immediately equip that looted mod on one of your items.

Weapons

Project Blue Moon will have a very wide range of weapons, both popular and newly designed, ranging from pistols to missile launchers to laser gatling guns. Each weapon has unique stats (Fire Rate, Damage, Accuracy, Noise, Range, Recoil) your character skills directly affect how you use these weapons.

Each weapon has multiple types of ammunition, ranging from regular to armor pursing incendiary rounds, and multiple mods each having their own scarcity and barter price point as in the wastelands everything has its trade-offs.

That is it for now since this update is already getting to long, if you have any questions about any of the above, please don’t hesitate to drop us a message and we’ll answer as soon as possible,

Anyhow, talk to you next Friday and we hope to have a game update date by then.
