Hi everyone! We're back from MGC, and hot off the computer presses we have the latest episode, recorded at our panel. As with live recordings at events, the sound quality on this one isn't clean and crisp as when we're in the studio, but it came out quite well. This episode is a perfect example of what your Patreon support makes possible, because it allowed us to travel to this event and to fly in a pair of special guests who know 8-bit SEGA inside and out: Greg Sewart (of Generation...

Hey folks,
Thanks for your patience! Here's this week's advance Retronauts Micro. Maybe I'll see you at the Midwest Gaming Classic this weekend?

Hi friends,
Just wanted to drop a note that this week's advance Micro will be a few days late thanks to an illness I developed late last week—my third in a row since February. (My immune system has been unkind to me lately.) As always, thanks for your patience! We have so many good episodes on the way, and I want to make sure I can spend enough time on this latest Micro to have it meet our normal standard of quality.
Thanks!

Hey folks,
Happy Friday! I'm dropping this week's advance episode three days early to make up for the Deception Micro being so late. Have a great weekend!

Hiyo! This should have been up yesterday, but my trip back home from the weekend's podcast recording marathon was something of a complete disaster and my flight ended up arriving home incredibly late after a stream of rolling delays. Woe is me, blah blah blah. Anyway, here you go: A Micro episode extolling the virtues of Metal Storm, a rad and sad game. Rad because it's loads of fun and a technical masterpiece; sad because it's become essentially unaffordable now due to its skyrocketing p...

Hello! Podcast!
This week's episode, I suspect, will be a fairly divisive one, as it's not about games but rather the process of playing them. I would imagine the handful of people who geek out about this stuff will enjoy the episode, while everyone else may find it interminable. Apologies if you fall into the latter category! And apologies if you fall into the former category, because I'm sure there's lots of misperception and misinformation being bandied about here by mistake; this episo...

Good news everyone! The delayed advance episode of Retronauts Micro is finally here. This one's all about the Deception series, a weird little group of games that's been around for 20 years now. (I happen to really love 'em.) Enjoy!

Hey folks,
Just a bit of unfortunate news for you: Since I spent the majority of the weekend (and most of the week) crunching on my three-part Day of the Tentacle oral history, I didn't have time to work on this week's advance Micro episode. Rest assured that I've already made plans to put it together, an...

For this (well, next) week's topic, I've selected Ninja Five-O... a game I discovered quite by accident. Honestly, I have no idea what prompted me to buy this game, especially since I was briefly out of work at the time it debuted and didn't really have money to waste on unknown games with dumb names and ugly box art. But I did, and I was quite happy to have done so. Don't let the name fool you; it's a pretty slick action game. I hope it makes its way to Virtual Console at some point...

Hi everyone, sorry this is a little bit late! I wasn't slacking — quite the contrary. This is the single most intricate episode of Retronauts I've ever put together, featuring a ton of edits. Normally it takes about three hours to edit an episode of the show; this one took about 10. I've been plugging away at it since Friday....
Hopefully, you'll agree it was worth the effort and the wait! This episode concerns the music of Nobuo Uematsu, and it features plenty of said music. Since this ...

Hey folks,
Just a quick update from me (Bob). As we outlined in last month's State of the Podcast special, our first reward tier—which gets you our regular episodes a week ahead of schedule—has officially been raised from $1.00 to $2.00. If you're currently pledging one dollar a month, you'll need to up that amount to two dollars in order to continue accessing our advance episodes.
If you can't swing that, no problem! We'll appreciate that monthly dollar regardless. In ...

This took longer than anticipated to put together, but the video version of last week's early access Micro episode is here. I know Patreon's site can be fussy when it comes to audio files, but YouTube embeds should be no problem... I hope. Anyway, I know more people will listen to the audio version than will watch this, probably by an order of magnitudes... but for this game, the video is the way to go. Enjoy!

Hey folks,
I have the day off, so I decided to get ahead of things and put this week's advance episode online. Also, we'll soon be adjusting our lowest tier as we outlined in our State of the Podcast episode: From February 2 onwards, you'll need to donate at least $2 a month to access these advance episodes. You can still donate $1 a month if you want, but you won't get anything in return—outside of our gratitude (which is priceless). That said, if you have any questions, please post the...

It's another Micro episode, and this week I was actually a little reluctant to post this as a strictly audio-based podcast. More so than any game I've tackled solo before, Otocky begs to be shown off visually. Well, the YouTube version will be along in a few days. For now, soak up and enjoy the sound-only edition. And give Otocky a spin! It's cool.
Description: We've mentioned Otocky in passing, but now we delve into greater depth about this little-known but ma...

Episode 58 of the new numbering, that is. According to archive.org, episode 58 of the original run was... Half-Life!? Well, that was a near-miss with wild coincidence.
This episode 58 is not about Half-Life but rather about HAL. When we learned of Satoru Iwata's passing in the middle of recording our recent PlayStation episode, we vowed to give his work with HAL a proper tribute. Hopefully this session fits the bill. Regular irregulars Christian Nutt and Henry Gilbert join us for th...

Yes, it's another episode in which we revisit a topic from long ago... in this case, it's a topic that stretches all the way back to the very beginning of the Retronauts podcast: Metroid! Enjoy an hour and a half of in-depth discussion of the 2D Metroid games in this episode that's been sitting on the back burner for a surprisingly long time.
Description: Jeremy, Bob, and IGN's Jose Otero revisit a subject dear to their hearts: Nintendo's Metroid series. It's th...

Yes, that's right, it's TWO updates in rapid succession, since Bob posted this week's early episode a bit early. And now here's the promised Q*Bert Micro episode in video form. This works a LOT better than audio-only Micros, so I'll see if I can make this a regular thing going forward.
Enjoy!
