Updated art for Hand Jumper's return banner + a sneak peak at an upcoming panel!

I'm finally getting closer to what I envisioned for Hand Jumper's art. Of course, I say this every 10 chapters or so. In a month I'll look back at what I've drawn today and, frothing at the mouth, pluck out my own eyeballs.

In any case-- I hope you'll be able to notice a difference when Hand Jumper returns!

Black (+ return month announcement)

The runner-up in the Tier Three Patreon poll, Black! He's the third person to join Samin's gang, hence the Roman numeral. For those interested, Gray (Jungwoo, who appeared very early on in the series) was the second, and Pink was the fourth.

In other news... Hand Jumper will be coming back during April's Return Week. That's later than I would've liked- originally, we were supposed to return in March, but that couldn't happen due to some scheduling issues with Return Wee...

Black (Sketch Progress)

Black was the runner-up in the Black Tie Patreon poll for which side character I should draw next. Very unexpected- he's only made one appearance so far, and has done little more than look extremely tired. That's probably why he's so popular.

I'm excited for when he, as well as the rest of Samin's gang (there's seven of them!), play a bigger part in the story.

Panel Lineart Sneak Peeks

The rundown: Season One will be 50 episodes long. 40 episodes are currently published on Webtoon. The last ten of the season, which are currently in production, will serve as Hand Jumper's season one finale arc. Once Season One concludes, preproduction for Season Two will begin right away.

Officer Hayoon Ahn won the drawing poll hosted for the tier 3 Patrons! I've wanted to draw an abstracted portrait of her for some time, so things have worked out nicely.

The second place winner (Black from Samin's gang, the Crimson Society) is up next.

Samin (with Sayeon's glasses)

Kind of a crack post. A friend asked me what Samin would look like wearing Sayeon's glasses, and this sketch is what happened.

Part of Samin's character is that she cares very little about what others think, so she'll cut her own hair into a really awkward mullet and dress in 80's used-cars-salesman type clothing for no reason other than "It's what I like." Makes it interesting to draw her in more fashion-conscious outfits.

Happy Holidays! (WIP)

I watched a Korean film called Decision to Leave the other day. Towards the end, a lady named Seo-rae tells her lover, Throw it deep into the sea, where nobody can find it... I think she was talking about herself.

The melodrama of the movie must've stuck with me. I painted this right after, and what was intended to be a cheerful drawing transformed midway into something bittersweet. Or maybe not?

Hand Jumper QnA- Genderbend

I'll be posting answers from the QnA as I complete them, here on Patreon! This is for the top-voted question, which asked to see the Hand Jumper cast genderbent.

A few notes:

- Sayeon was a boy in the original draft of Hand Jumper, and that boy's name was indeed Sangwoo. This isn't what he looked like, though- Sangwoo was his own character, design and personality and everything.

Animation Progress

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! And if you don't celebrate, that you get to eat tons of delicious food regardless :)

Still needs a lot of redrawing and reworking, but the base aspects of the animation are down! One of these is at 48 FPS and the other at 40. 40 looks more natural, but 48 will be needed for a certain variation of this animation that I have yet to make.

New Icon?

I've had this on the back burner for a while- art for a new series icon, since the current icon makes my eyes hurt. Sayeon's shirt here is in desperate need of an ironing.

Samin's defining color scheme is black and red. She's adopted this trait, along with several form-fitting turtlenecks, from her mother Sara.

Featuring Ryujin as 'Red' the monster hunter and Sayeon as a very confused Sleeping Beauty. This is littered with mistakes (I'll give you a hint: that last panel of Red...) but even so, it was nice playing with screentones again. Will probably clean it up when I've got time.

New Sayeon icon? WIP + fanart

So as you might know... I'm currently knocked out sick. Really bummed that I can't work on HJ right now, because the Capture the Flag arc is a super fun one- Sayeon is using her critical thinking skills for the first time since joining the Corps (is that a roast?), and subsequently channels her colder, more calculating side. Whether this will be good for Sayeon remains to be seen.

Snap! (Animation Rough)

Some rough keyframes for an animation in progress- I haven't forgotten about that poll! The old one I scrapped because while making it, my art has improved enough that the shape of her face was really bothering me...

A second animation will also be in the works. I'm preparing to upload all the Hand Jumper music I've made so far to YouTube, and I need a nice animated loop to play in the background.

Samin Sketch

Samin's haircut is inspired by Korean fashion model Sora Choi's iconic mullet (slide 2).

In her first design, Samin sported long hair pulled back in a low ponytail, but I scrapped that in favor of something edgier, to better fit her personality... Min got the low ponytail instead. As a result, both characters are on the more androgynous side.
