In today’s comic, I offer my own theory behind some white folk’s obsession with touching black folk’s hair. Besides the obvious fetishization of all things ethnic, I would also posit that physical contact with melinated skin or Africanized hair somehow allows them to, momentarily, channel a potent (if somewhat limited) “Black Experience”. The one thing they cannot own. It’s just a theory.

Comic Edit

Today's edit comes from the strip entitled Tomato/Toemahtoe. Working in the traditional dimensions of a comic strip can be constricting but it's also a great way to develop your eye for layout and design. In the edit I decided to zoom in a bit on the second panel to make it more distinct from the first panel. The third panel was changed simple because I liked the second pose better.

The Occasional Edit

 Sometimes (actually more like 100% of the time) I have to go back and make edits to a strip that's already been posted. Most times it's just to correct a spelling or grammar error but occasionally I've got to put right some visual element that was bugging me. The above example is from this comic.
