Good evening everyone,

We're making good progress on Divimera and no change in date estimates, so we should be right on schedule, October/November. We've got some pretty amazing scenes with Hale by the good Kojack that are finished in terms of art/animation (available in the previews), and Charlotte's scene has started. 

Great news, anirhapsodist the bg artist has returned. The long absence was caused by heavy burnout, we have been taking things a bit more slowly but he is feeling better now. We have adjusted our workflow accordingly, and I have sent him a new computer in parts to make the work easier. He was working on a very old machine, something from 2014 with very bad performance, blender, and Photoshop were very painful to use. He seemed quite happy about the speed benefit, and all the parts were safely delivered to his home.

Bad news, the submarine game is going to be late, we've gone beyond our initial ambitions to try and make something a bit more consistent that lasts about two hours. It's well-advanced, and the game script is almost finished, in terms of realization/art it's a little more than halfway through but it will take more time than expected to be where it needs to be, and I want to refocus my full attention towards Divimera for now.

As for why I had this idea of the submarine game, it allowed me to do a bit of something else during the summer, it doesn't take up much of my time and it was the right moment with the R10 version which was going to take a long time to do regardless of my input because of the amount of art required far outbalancing the actual script/code necessity. Maybe it'll allow us to get known a bit more by doing something commercial, very much in the air of the times, potentially indirectly making Divimera known and making a bit of money. I like to try things out sometimes just to experiment, always been a multiple-project guy in general and Divimera is an exception in that regard as it requires my full attention most of the time but there was an opportunity here and I took it.

After the release of the next R10 version, I think we're going to have to seriously tackle the Steam version of Divimera, the sooner the better. In fact, steam's rules on NSFW content change often, so it's possible that in a while the rules will get much tougher and Divimera won't be accepted, so it's better to do it while it's possible.

On top of that, it'll give the game some exposure and perhaps a new dynamism, as interest in the game has been waning of late. It's an opportunity to really do things right and benefit the project as a whole going forward, with a nice cover, a bit of marketing with a trailer as the big boys do, reworking the game's intro with something a bit punchier, and making the whole package a bit nicer. It might also be an opportunity to change the name of the game to something more catchy. It feels like a kind of obligatory step and every time I've delayed it, I think it should have been a goal achieved much earlier than that. 

Again, thank you for understanding and being supportive, it's a bit of a slow moment I know but it will get better soon I promise.

Hey everyone,

The work on R10 has continued without interruption this month, the heat waves are not fun when you have to sit in front of a computer and don't use an air conditioner but it is how it is!

We are doing good, I don't have much to add to the planned things and ETA compared to the previous news. But I can reassure you, we are still working day to day on R10 and the small project, and things are going along well. There are some cool things to show in terms of previews following this post if you are not afraid of spoilers for both projects.

Overall I think R10 is shaping up to be the lewdest update so far, from sexy conversations to three sex scenes that are more rich than usual with additional layers of progression to them. And some promising discussion with Lady Williams. Hopefully, it turns out to be good for everyone. Just the lack of Lily h-scene is a shame, all I can do is guarantee it will be the first thing you see in R11.

I don't have much to add, wanted to give some news but the goals remain unchanged. I hope you can bear with me the wait, and I hope everyone had a good summer. Time goes by so quickly.

News on a bit of everything

Hello everyone,

We've been busy with the development of Divimera and the small summer project, so without further due here's where we are at on both sides.

Divimera:

- First, let's start with the not-so-good, we have to cut out the Lily scene from this update, only have Hale/Arabelle/Charlotte in R10, and have the Lily one in the next update. The main reason is while working on the details of the update, we realized that forcing the Lily scene on Day 6 created some problems, if you were pursuing multiple characters you were basically gonna finish having sex with Charlotte and one second later gonna go on Lily and that was the only way we could make it work. It felt a bit strange in terms of pacing so it seemed more natural to move it to the next day, in the morning, the start of R11 basically.

The new Lady Hale scene is supposed to be kind of a double scene, with a focus on the preliminary and then another section focused on the sex, so I would say there are still pretty much 4 scenes technically, just not 4 different characters having one at the same time.

I hope it doesn't come off too much as a disappointment, Lily is a great character and her moment to shine is certainly awaited. I can guarantee it's gonna be the very next thing happening in R11 for certain and I think it's gonna be a much better scene than if we were to force it now.

You can see some of the progress on the Arabelle H-scene as well as the new character sprite worked on by the good Kojack in the preview post, and also some new backgrounds and locations that were made recently.

- The latest poll showed an interest in anal content, so after R10, it will be a good idea to integrate slowly but surely at least one anal scene per character outside of maybe some characters where it doesn't make too much sense (like the tribe lady which isn't a depraved 'westerner' or Charlotte since she is still a virgin at that point). I think Arabelle and Molly are the ones that would work the best for getting an anal scene, and Hale/Lily would be quite okay too.

- Minigame is almost done and will consist of smearing linseed oil on 3D rotatable furniture like a table or a chair. It's not meant to be very long, but you will need to first restart the waterwheel inside the village in order to produce the oil. Kind of cool looking all around, and realistic, just not the most incredible and exciting thing ever but it should do the job fine hopefully. There are some images of how it looks in the preview post if you are curious about it. It's basically a sort of powerwash simulator type of minigame but more basic.

- ETA for this update is still around Late October/November.

Catastrophic Sexpedition:

- Meme game pretty much, will be a parody of the submarine event that happened this summer. Just having fun with it, it's made by different people, only doing the UI and organization stuff, and the "code". It is a very basic slideshow out-of-mill Visual Novel, so codewise it's fairly easy and doesn't take a lot of time away from Divimera. A humble little game basically but hopefully quite enjoyable.

- Storywise, it's light-hearted, and a parody. It's not meant to be very deep or serious, the duration will be around 2 hours of playtime, with only one girl to date and a few choices that lead to some funny endings where it doesn't end so well.

- Should release in September on Patreon hopefully, but basically before Divimera R10 is done is the objective.

- You can see a lot of the art for it in the preview post (I'll put it before Divimera in order of apparition since it doesn't really represent a spoiler and is safe to be seen and I want to encourage you to take a look).

News about Shadow Island R10 and a small summer project.

Hey everyone,

I hope the summer has been good to you so far, we have some pretty exciting news, a lot of stuff going on under the curtain.

First of all, regarding Divimera, it's been a while since we started working on R10 now. This is gonna be a massive update, with at least 3 scenes and even possibly 4 H-scenes:

  • Arabelle H-scene

  • Hale H-scene

  • Charlotte H-scene

  • And Lily we aren't sure 100% if it happens in this update or the next, but 50/50 chance right now that it ends up in this update.

This was required because basically, all the routes need to progress further around that time because after that you will see but there will be some kind of event that will disturb the flow of things quite a bit. So it's kind of a convergent moment in the story where we need to have almost all the females going to the next step in their respective routes before being able to move forward in the story.

On top of that the MC will be given the job to do in town in this update, something that he will have to keep doing in the future as well. So we will have an entirely new location within the town opening in this update.

Some new sprites are being introduced as well, with Lady Williams and Lord Williams at the church. And a new character running the place where you will work from now on.

There will be also a sort of minigame introduced in the new workplace.

We have also finally found a new background artist named Hehudojnik and he is really excellent at what he does and was able to replicate the previous bg artist's style to a degree that is incredible. That makes me very happy because I was getting worried and you will be able to see what it looks like through the preview posted just after this news along with some of the amazing sprites made by Kojack.

That said, there is one caveat with all that, and that is that this update gonna take a bit longer than previous updates, it has just too many things happening at the same time. Even just in terms of arts, that's not possible to deal with that many things in the regular update timeframe. With what I know I'm estimating that this update will release something around Late October/November. It might come out sooner though but I don't want to promise anything to not disappoint you. After that as long as there are not as many H-scenes, we should return to a more normal schedule.

I know it sucks but there is no realm where we can make that many things happen in such a short time.

On the other hand, I did a poll recently about having a B team working on smaller-scale projects, and the results were very positive. So in the meantime, we have also something else cooking, it would be a small project made by some different people, including a new and different bg artist, and another character artist that you may know already: Seb, a good friend, the one who did the art for Tyrant Quest.

It will be a very small and funny side project which only last one hour or two hours maximum. It will be almost like a crash test, to see how it could turn out and if people like it etc. This small project will be released before R10, so that will hopefully make the wait feel less substantial.

The story will be about the sub that imploded one week ago, but this time you will be stuck with a beautiful girl at the bottom of the ocean, and it might not be as dramatic as the original story, but we will have some bad endings for sure.

In any case, I'll be able to talk more about it in the coming weeks, the work on it has already started and I can't wait to see how it comes together.

Rolled out R9.5 which is focused on engine improvements.

As usual, replaced all the previous links with the new version.

Last month a new version of Ren'py sdk was released by the big boss Renpytom, which brings many improvements and functionalities to the engine. It took me one week to switch to it as the project is a bit borderline for ren'py and many things tend to break which need to be fixed after a sdk update, and I also took the opportunity to further optimize the game, here are the technical changes:

- Audio side was reworked by Renpytom to a great extent which makes the audio behaves as you would expect, that means not linearly like in the past but in terms of db which is much more natural, and how our ears work (and also how windows sound slider work for example). The audio sliders in the game behave normally for the first time, and you can hear a difference along the full spectrum of the sliders now. The second important thing is ren'py before this sdk update had audio doing a lot of clicks/scratch noises when two sounds were playing on the same channel close to each other, this is something I would hear all the time while testing the game as Divimera tends to use a ton of sounds and I'm sure you did without necessarily realizing it. This is now fixed and the audio across Divimera is just perfectly smooth now thanks to the new sdk, you will never hear a weird distortion or click noise on anything, this makes me incredibly happy.

- I have now the ability to center the windows of the game and I took advantage of that functionality in R9.5, so no more awkward windows being recentered and going offscreen. Every time you will trigger a resize, the windows will be recentered in the middle.

- General stability fixes for Android, overall should see fewer crashes as some improvements were made engine-wise.

- Support for Avif, which is an image format that can be way smaller than Webp for the same quality. Right now I don't plan to use it as the encode time takes days compared to Webp, so it isn't suited for ongoing development but once the game is finished and there is no more change, this is something that I plan to use to make the game really small in size.

- Took the opportunity to tackle optimizations a bit as well, and reworked some of the codes for some of the in-game screens and menu, the game should feel much more responsive now, and I believe almost all lags are gone outside of the mini-game which I will try to improve later down the road.

R9.2 is out (bugfixes) + Tyrant Quest Gold available on Patreon.

Hey everyone,

I rolled out some bug fixes for Divimera, and as usual, replaced all the original links with the new version.

To have the changes applied properly, need to load a save before the mc gets out of his bed on Day 6.


Changelog:

- Fix the washerwoman scene being repeatable.

- Fix still being able to give the hat to the washerwoman on Day 6 which led to a crash, it will now trigger properly a scene where the washerwoman informs you that there is no need to bring her the hat anymore.

- Fix some translation issues.


Also took the opportunity to release Tyrant Quest Gold on Patreon, something I wanted to do for a long time. Hope you can enjoy it!

R9.1 (bugfixes) is out and all the links have been replaced with it.

- Fix molly scene 4 (new scene) not being playable.

To make sure the fix is applied, you must pick up the golden necklace in R9.1. Loading a save where you already have the golden necklace on you, will not fix the issue.

A small side VN?

Would people be interested in a small VN made with a secondary team to make the wait less painful between releases of Divimera?

By trying to fix the background problems on Divimera, I ended up meeting some different artists, this wouldn't take away much of my time from Divimera as the team would be different and we could offer a low-effort VN but pretty decent.

Just a thought anyway for a mostly far future, nothing concrete right now, just wanted to see what was the opinion on this.

I might have been a bit optimistic about the impact of the disappearance of the bg artist, as I had to work several days on background stuff and put aside working on the development of the game, but in the course of the next month, it will be done that's a guarantee.

News + Shadow Island Progress report

Hi everyone, 

Following the previous news, the worst fears turned out to be true and the background artist of the game disappeared, I don't know if he will ever come back or if anything happened to him, maybe he will come back one day, maybe not. This is the first time something like this has happened to me since I started trying to make games, but I always knew that there was a real risk when you work only on the internet that this kind of situation would end up happening, even though I considered myself relatively lucky until now, it was a scenario I always envisaged. However, because of this, the development has suffered a lot of difficulties in the previous month, I had to try to find a replacement, and we haven't succeeded yet (still trying to recruit atm) but I've managed to find a method to create some new backgrounds and in a style that I hope is similar enough for most of the environments planned for the future, a mix between existing assets, Photoshop stuff, and artificial intelligence. You can see the result in the art samples that follow this news.

It should hopefully work in 80% of the cases, and in the missing 20%, we will try to find a freelance who could output the missing part. There will be a small change in style, but I'm trying to do my best so that it won't be too visible, you can tell me what you think, I hope it will be ok.

Coming back to Divimera R9, I'm writing this news now that I've found a sort of solution to what was needed for R9 in terms of BG art, so currently everything is more or less back to normal and the development is going on normally, I don't think this disruption will have a significant impact on the release of the R9, probably a week added I would say.

The washerwoman scene is now almost finished, and we are finishing part that takes place in the abandoned village. Because of the unique situation where we didn't have a BG artist anymore, we did this update backward starting with the village part and the end of the update (the one we could do without new backgrounds), and now that a solution has been found for the abandoned village, we're going back to the beginning of the update, all things considered, and given the situation, I must say it went pretty okay overall.

I hope that this kind of incident is behind us and that the new BG art will not shock you.

Progress report on Shadow Island R9

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the small amount of news.

I have to say, this is related to me getting really burned out between managing the Tyrant Quest release and working on Divimera. When I get burned out, I get hit by a sudden wave of exhaustion and get cold sores all around my eyes. But I'm starting to feel better, Tyrant Quest doesn't require my attention anymore at that point, and hopefully, this bad episode is coming to an end.

That said, we have been working non-stop on Divimera R9, this update has been very challenging so far for two reasons:

- The hat quest and washerwoman lady/Molly whole shenanigan was extremely complicated in terms of logic, we must have rewritten that whole thing so many times before finding the right way to conclude it. But we are getting there.

- This update has a lot of new places/shots on the island but the background artist is having trouble irl at the same time, which makes me think I may have to use AI to generate some backgrounds as a last resort which I want to avoid at all costs, I'm still hopeful we can finish everything and maybe me being tired doesn't help with the prospect so don't want to dwell too deep into this as things may improve. I hope his situation gets better with time but I also need to take some actions to create a safety net for the project in case something goes wrong.

That's why I'm looking into hiring an additional background artist for Divimera, the idea would be to find someone that can output a very moderate amount of backgrounds on top of what Anir does, only focused on exterior backgrounds, but that small amount added would be enough to make everything works without the extra stress that is inflicted on me and Anir right now, however, I'm having big trouble finding someone that shares a similar style, if you think you are up to the task and interested, don't hesitate to contact me or if you know someone, don't hesitate.

Otherwise, the Molly scene was fully finished and it's one of the best-looking hscene so far, in my opinion. I'm also looking into a lot of references so that the scene with the Washerwoman can have a good position. To make it even better, this situation with her will grant the player some sanity back so that the quest actually gives you something interesting outside of just getting a nice-looking scene.
For Molly, we will also add an additional reward for completing her quest in time but that one might only be included in a future version, in the form of a lewd kiss.
We have also made a new scene for Charlotte in her bedroom which is very silly but funny (not with sexual content but that builds up a cool situation for her next hscene as you will see).

In terms of release, currently aiming at late April/Early May. The sooner the better.

Again sorry for the trouble, and I hope this post can bring some relief to some of the questions.

Progress report on Shadow Island R9

We have resumed the work on Divimera for about two weeks now and set the goal and duration of the update. 

In terms of script\story, we are currently working on the sunset/night section of Day 5, meanwhile, the character artist is working on one of the Hscene that will be featured (you can see the sketch for it in the preview post), and with background artist, we are working on creating the environment piece for the washerwoman riverside lady event that will lead to an Hscene (which seemed to be a pretty popular character).

Right now what we have planned is:

- Update will pan out from Day 5 (where we left off in R8) to about the end of the morning of Day 6.

- The new tribe lady character will be seen for the first time in this update (it was initially planned for R8, but we weren't able to have her ready in time).

- In terms of erotica, we are planning Molly's Hscene, an Hscene with the riverside lady, and some light tease with Lady Hale. For Charlotte and Lily's Hscenes, it will most likely happen in R10 (though we are trying to see if a Hscene with Lily could work for R9 but very hypothetical).

On a side note, we will start looking into putting Divimera on Steam under an early access form in the coming months, now that Tyrant Quest is properly done and out.
