Anybody missed Lazy Posy?.. 🙄
Probably not 😅

A cloudy sky, with a tiny slice of air, let the sun shine for less than two minutes. I scouted a bit on the beach and settled for this shot. The sand patches are made by the wind, and during the day the frost had not completely molten, somehow remaining only on there. (Shot last week)

Always nice if a person passes the setting sun :-)

A bright afterglow captured at a small lake in 2010.
2025-03-02 13:00:03 +0000 UTC View PostGaussian Splatting is a pretty mind-blowing technology with some creative potential 😁 This was generated and animated in Jawset Postshot, exported as EXR and graded in Resolve, where I changed the background color. (video is mute)

Scenic in the sense that it's not just a horizon. This one is about 7 years old I think.

More photos of the same morning as last week... In small form this doesn't look that appealing but as a desktop wallpaper it could do nice. In some parts of the world this might be quite common, but not here. Next week a 'regular sunset' again 😉
2025-02-23 11:00:03 +0000 UTC View PostThis had to be a one taker... Fog and frost. These lights are red to not disturb bats... Pretty wild. Shots like this is what I actually got that infamous black mist filter for... It will likely be the intro shot of the "orange sodium lights" video that will probably be not only about those anymore...

I actually can't remember if this glow is from actual fog or clouds, or that I cheated (which I did two or three times to make the shot more interesting). Anyway.. Nice right? ;-)

This mid January there were several days of rare partial mist and frost in the South of the Netherlands. I finally went there, expecting to be too late for any partial mist, but to my surprise I wasn't. "Weather makes the landscape" is very true here. (I came up with that myself 😁). On the second photo it almost looks like I'm high up a mountain but it is only about 65 meters higher than the background.

In these enhanced photos (which makes it look filthy) you can see all 8 sides of the Revox Evolution. They actually embossed a different score on every side! Anybody recognize something?... My knowledge of notes is too rudimentary to make out what this is.

I came to the conclusion, that from my location it's now near-impossible te have a sunset that is free of wind turbines. Still, in this case, this wouldn't have looked as nice without them. Note the cluster of sunspots :) Shot on feb. 1st.

Sea foam on a misty morning, where unexpectedly the sun appeared. Wide angle macro.

This was shot about two months ago, many sunspots on this day :)
2025-02-04 11:00:02 +0000 UTC View PostI have some behind the scenes, too. I'll make a video of that as well ;)

I just finished uploading this. If I'm correct this is the way you let Patrons see it earlier, yes? Now I shouldn't forget to make it live tomorrow.. 🙄

The sun flattened already relatively high about the horizon. Taken in summer.

Taken last September. I kind of messed up the focus... 😥 But I had to run again, it all came very unexpected.

Sunrise with contrails and a distant airplane :)

These were shot on November 4 last year. Atmospheric conditions were quite unique, leaving all contrails intact while not spreading them out to form a 'blanket' which happens more often than most people realize. The wind direction also helped. I used to have a website dedicated to sky where I pointed arrows at all contrails 😅 Later I did it a litte more 'normal' as can be seen on this ancient webpage: https://www.michieldb.nl/skies/contrails/intro.htm

A 'making of' or 'behind the scenes' of an example of how I grade a shot of sun. This sunrise was filmed last Saturday morning.

This would actually be quite a nice way to start the new year. It's even tradition in some countries if I'm not mistaken. Given the cloudy weather here in The Netherlands I can see why that never became a tradition here... Instead we jump in the ice cold ocean wearing a hat from a large sausage factory... As I write this in december I don't know how the new year actually began. I hope good for everybody 🥳

Seems appropriate 😉 I made these scans this december and they're cropped. I used the 'DSLR' scan technique. These are the original colors. I'm surprised these slides haven't discolored yet, though the pruple/blue seems very weak.

Instead of one telephoto, 5! 🤩 All showing different 'glitter paths' of sunsets in the ocean. With some (a lot) of fantasy it could remind of Christmas lights... This only happens on a very calm sea.
