I went hiking with my SO a few days ago and took some wonderful photos of the clouds and fog rolling into San Francisco. It inspired this painting :)

semi animated panels

These are always fun to make but also kind of frustrating to keep things similar enough between panels when it's not cell shaded. 

from 3D to 2D

Here's an insight on how I make my comics these days. The 3D model is rendered with a lineart, but as you can see, it's rather stiff, some areas such as the joints are weird looking, and hair and clothes are not flowy. I erase those areas and draw in the proper lineart, also giving characters expressions before adjusting the colors, and adding atmospheric mood lighting.

My eyes are still swollen and painful but at least it doesn't affect my vision so I've been able to work a bit more on the chapter. Doctor's appointment in 2 days...

Been feeling sick

A random sketch I did earlier this month. I've been busy working on the comic but the past few days I got some weird eye infection and now my eyes are swollen and painful. This sucks :/ I do have a doctor's appointment coming up so hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.

Tutorial Poll

Here's the new poll for the last 2 months of videos to be turned into a tutorial! :D I originally wanted to do a tutorial every month but I've too busy with various charity projects and other secret projects to continue. So from now on it'll be a poll every other month. I'll still finish the 2nd tutorial from the last vote, but from now on it'll be just one tutorial per vote.

I'm also hoping to start publishing the new chapters of Knite soon as well so I've been extra busy, it's the good...

Charity project wip

Another wip for the upcoming collaborative charity project to help protect the environment. You can see the sketches by some of the other artists too :) It's been a while since I've drawn so many animals and I really miss it <3

Semi photostudy

Decided to go out of my comfort zone and painted this one entirely in Photoshop instead of SAI. Now it's back to working on the comics, more wip shots coming soon!

Sneak preview of a charity project

I was invited to be one of the 5 artists of a new charity project to raise money to help save our environment. Here's a preview of the ocean part that I'm working on. You can also see some sketches by the other artists as the contents :)

Another Fisheye Placebo sneak peek

It took much longer than expected to set up the 3D models for this chapter due to the crowd which is rather difficult to make for the first time. But now that that's figured out, it'll be much faster in the future whenever we need crowds, especially for scenes like protests and riots.

In Your Twilight

I wish I could still watch the twilight with my best friend if she were still here. My dog passed away 2 years ago and I still miss her everyday. 

Sneak preview of Mr. SuicideSheep Commission

I don't normally take commissions, but I always listen to the music on their Youtube channel and it was only fitting. They wanted something with the theme of music, sky, and reflections for their 10 million subscriber anniversary. This is a small portion of the full drawing, the full version will be posted about a month from now after they've released it :)

Trying something new

I made some sumi brushes in photoshop and decided to try it out! Unfortunately my screen recorder crashed about 20 minutes in so I only have the process video for the first 20 min of this painting. 

There are 4 Chinese words disguised as the tiger's stripes, and it reads 纵虎归山 which basically means free the tiger back to it's home :)

Thank you all for another month of amazing support! I just got back from a convention and will be preparing to send out all the rewards in the next day or 2. 

My team has also finished making the models for the next ch of Fisheye Placebo so hopefully I'll have another chapter out by the end of this month :)

WIP

Been doing a lot of darker stuff lately, I really missed these muted palettes after doing so many vibrant paintings.

Finally finished after so many versions

I went through 4 versions before finally liking the result, below are some of the past ones that didn't quite match my vision.

WIP - 3rd time's the charm?

I didn't like the last 2 versions so I redid the body again. I think it's getting closer to what I had originally envisioned. 

More Portrait Studies

I was still feeling art blocked so I just kept doing more practice studies. It's of Jessie Li again, I think I just really like her angry face lol. 

The original photo didn't have Chinese word on her face. The word means "I".

Portrait Practice

Was feeling artblocked so I did some more photostudies to practice more (of Jessie Li again) I'm not particularly good at painting actual people since I'm used to anime instead, so this was a great learning experience. 

changed the composition

I've been feeling abit art blocked on that last wip, and ended up scrapping the body and doing a new one with a more dynamic pose. Still not sure if this is the final version but I'll keep trying.

Infinite Lights

While editing the photos of the Milkyway, I found some older photos I took of the Golden Gate bridge and decided to turn it into a painting :)

Photography as inspirations

Some of you might know that I also take a lot of photos as a side hobby. I love nature and being under the infinite sky, so nature photography was something I always wanted to do. 

I use the photos I take, be it of the milkyway or the cityscapes, as inspirations for my art. Last night my SO and I took some photos by the ocean and I want to share them with you all :) I hope you enjoy and find inspiration from this beautiful world as well.

Portrait study

I found some really nice photos of various model portraits that I really liked, especially the ones with stronger emotions which I need more practice with. (you can find the original photo here I didn't quite get the full emotions of the photo so I need to more practice)

Near the end of the painting I decided to add some of my own lighting and tattoo to it lol. The word on face is Chinese for hate. <...

Another WIP

This time it's actually a commission for Mr. SuicideSheep music on Youtube. I usually don't do commissions but I've been listening to the music they share for many years while I draw so I couldn't pass this up :)
