When flower goblins turn away from pretty petals and take up instead with the nightmares of thorns, the result is a Brambelf. It doesn't even wait 'til the sun sets to terrorize you.
I finally pulled together a nice layout so I can write these monsters up for The Nightmares Underneath. The end goal (aside from just switching over from Labyrinth Lord to TNU stat blocks) is a book, set on the island of Inkstvarr, so I will be releasing more of that stuff as it gets finished.
The oth...

It's later but here it is at last: the Monthly Monster for November is the Dragonseer. A wizard? A dragon? A mutated magical drug addict that goblins use to divine the future? All that and maybe just a little bit more.

So, we got a proof of the cards with the tuckbox, and made what I think are the final round of changes to the set. I'm just waiting on the latest proof to arrive. If it checks out like we expect it to, that's when the cards will become available and I'll send out coupons for them. Hopefully in time for Xmas orders!

We return, once again, to the rat goblins who live in a fortress carved by fire giants up in the Clawcrest Mountains. But now we introduce their war against the dwarves* and one of the weapons they use against them.

*At least, for now they are dwarves. Maybe we'll think of something different later.

The Monthly Monster for July is the Stone King, leader of gargoyles. His aim is to raise an army of monsters to attack the human Empire, now that it is weakened by civil war.

I made a new version of the basic moves and character sheets to take to Go Play Northwest this weekend. They've been reorganized and I've expanded the rules quite a bit, which means not all of the moves are completely done! But I gave myself a deadline, so I'm sticking to it.

Here is where we're at with this book:
The way DriveThruRPG works, when you set up a print version of a particular title, you can never change the format. That means I had to set up a new title listing for the revised edition of Dungeon Full of Monsters, instead of just updating the old version and maintaining some continuity.
The print isn't ready to go yet (still waiting on what I'm pretty sure are the final proofs), but I've updated the first edition files with the new pdfs. Wh...

This is the current big project here at the monthly monsters: a new layout for Dungeon Full of Monsters!
These are pictures of a new letter landscape version: 11 inches wide, 8.5 inches tall. Each of these new pages contains a 2-page spread from the original layout, so along with some new material it ends up being 198 pages (200 if you count the extra page Lightning Source adds at the end).
The downsides to this new layout are mainly that I didn't plan to do this, so it's taken so...

We didn't do much in the way of extra stuff last year, beyond the 2 monsters every month, which is kind of a shame. Hopefully that will change in 2019! We have a few different ideas we are mulling over and considering, so I thought I might fill you in.

I decided to try writing up some outside encounters for Dungeon Full of Monsters, laid out in much the same format. These are things that can happen to adventurers while they are wandering around on the outside of Skull Mountain, before they ever get inside, even.
Here's the first one, where our heroes get ambushed by a youth gang, whose leader is something more than human.

Hello patrons,
Today I am sharing with you the results of an experiment. I was looking at print formats and decided to try out letter landscape (11 inches wide by 8.5 inches high). Unfortunately, I can't get staple-bound books in this format even with a low page count, which is what I originally wanted. But even though the perfect binding (pages glued to the spine) isn't quite what I'd call perfect, I'm still thinking about doing more with it.
You'll notice in the pict...

Seeing as we started this Patreon project in November of 2013, this month marks the end of The First Five Years. It's been a trip looking back over all the monsters we've created (well over a hundred!) and thinking about where we can take them in the future.
The last public monster for this first half-decade, the Subterranean Fire Horse, is both a monster and a curse thrown by wizards at their foes. Let's just hope for your sake that you cast this spell correctly, should you ever get your hand...

I just wanted to share this extra thing we're working on, even though it isn't finished. I put together a test run for a tarot deck featuring our monsters and it turned out pretty good. There's some that we weren't happy about, around ~15 that we want to replace with newer illustrations that work better. So it may take some time yet, as we're going to add in the ones we produce every month, but once we have enough good ones, we'll release it pretty much as you see it here.
