Philosophy

I’m in the adamant belief that if something is true and worth saying, there’s a way to say it nicely. It’s also the rule of thumb to my comic - if something is true, even a sad, dark truth, I can make it nice. But if something is merely nice, I can’t make it true.

I started thinking about relationships and relationship comics, and the thing is, sometimes writing about how it sure is swell sharing your life with someone - it makes it feel like any relationship should be better than none. I’ve tried that and that worked out terribly. The matter is, being completely alone is always better than being with someone who’s not really there for you. It’s still best to have someone who also lets you give up sometimes.

A lot of the time my comic ideas are lifted directly from conversations we have, and sometimes I’ll take one of them, exaggerate it to a comic degree or add some strange, comedic element to it to make it funny.

Since the comics are inevitably always from my perspective, I do feel like Blue and his personality don’t get enough attention. He’d exhaust himself out of existence for me if I’m not careful about his boundaries.
