Midnight rain

One thing I hope I will never start taking for granted is getting to share my life with someone who enjoys doing the same kind of silly things as I do - like getting up at 3 am to go to the balcony to admire the pouring rain.

Another animation loop and update!

I'm feeling much better already, and so is my boyfriend (turns out we both caught the same illness), but I think I will take another week before getting back to regular posting, so I can recover in peace build up a little publishing queue. The comics come much easier and are of a much better quality when I'm not posting in a hurry.

Man, dog, and pile of dirt

We're at my boyfriend's parents' cabin for the week. They've got a pile of dirt that needs to be spread across the yard, and the dogs have an unstoppable yearning to dig a tunnel into the pile. It's not a hole, it's a tunnel. And this morning, my boyfriend's father was returning to the pile with a wheelbarrow, roughly 35 seconds after shooing the younger dog out of the pile, and paused for a moment to just look at the dog going right at it again. Sapling trade

I've alteady traded saplings with onw friend, getting the purple-leaved plant on the left in exchange for a baby ficus. Poor thing is still adjusting to being put into soil, but I'm hoping that it just needs a little bit more time. On the right is the vine I got from my boyfriend's grandma. And last but not least, behold my big beauty! I re-potted her into new soil and she's started growing new leaves like crazy again.

I used to be completely incapable of keeping houseplants alive, but...

Grandma's Birthday

I may have misunderstood the tone of the conversation from my boyfriend's mother's report of it, but I found the thought of it going like this too funny if it isn't exactly right.

Animation experiments

This was supposed to be a larger collection of different animations I've been working on, but apparently the passion to work on them ended before I got more of them done... Patreon is great, because while I am currently not working on any of the things I should be working on, I can share what I've been doing to procrastinate all of that.

Weather conditions

Mosquitoes are always the most aggressive just before it rains - although sweet, warm summer rain is my favourite weather. Relief from the heat, but not enough to be cold!

Long day

Had a long day yesterday - woke up at 7 am, did laundry, changed sheets, visited boyfriend's grandma for her birthday, went to get his other grandparents' rugs and carpets and washed them all, got home at 10 pm after being up, out and about all day. Was almost tempted to just put up a "no comic today" note today.

This comic was originally supposed to end with the line in the third panel, but my partner's offhand remark that he would invest money was too good to not be added in.

Homecoming

I had a splendid weekend. I will now take 2-3 business days to fully recover.

Happy midsummer!

I'm afraid that 25-30 is a comical exageration - there's only 10-15 friends in the group. We meet about 3-4 times per year, new year's, midsummer, halloween and christmas/new year. Midsummer is when we celebrate everyone's birthdays, all at the same time, too.

The beautiful people

I know this isn't the first comic I've made about my partner being the target of baby stares (and the factoid is true by the way, they made a study about it), but it is a frequently occurring thing - and coversation - in our daily life.

Sleep expressions

I've learned to pick up on the language - if I approach him in bed and he makes a vaguely rejecting motion in his sleep, I halt, wait a moment, and try again. If he repeats the same vague notion, that means "no".

My gif animation process

Recently I've been making animation loops instead of working on the things I was supposed to be working on, and it occurred to me that it would be fun to do a little step-by-step of my process from rough sketch frames to the final result. So here it is in nine figures, step by step:

From unnatural sources

I know this same joke has been done before by so many other people, but the mental image of office foxes selling eldritch apricot oil straight off the office wall was just too funny to me to pass up.

Hungry and tired

We went to a convention yesterday, and had s great time. We were too busy to grab a meal the whole day, and I'm still not used to the fact that normal people don't get hostile and aggressive at me when they're tired.

I don't believe in doing magic, but I do believe in betting murphy's law against itself.

Scent detective

The only unrealistic part of this is that he doesn't actually do the whole Sherlock Holmes breakdown out loud - he just smells the air and goes "someone hasn't let their firewood dry properly."

Itchy

My eyes get crusty in my sleep, and I'm terrible about accidentally getting sunscreen in my eye.

Uplifting

It's also noteworthy that we're almost the same height. He's like 2 cm taller than me, and he can pick me up and carry me over his shoulder.
